Item #: SCP-3548

Object Class: Keter

Containment Procedures: SCP-3548 can be located near any oceanic ports, and is to be monitored by at least four Clearance Level-3 personnel, well-equipped with firearms. The personnel may be accompanied by a boat to keep in reach of SCP-3548, as well as distance in case of any hostile activity. This boat must be reinforced with tightly-packed steel, or other protective substances. The four personnel must keep a distance from SCP-3548 of approximately 300 feet if to avoid contact with the subject.

Due to recent studies taken in ████, personnel are not permitted to board SCP-3548 unless instructed by higher staff members.

Description: SCP-3548, discovered by the foundation in 2003, appears to be a large cargo ship dating back around 17██. Subject's length measures to approximately 500 feet, subject's width approximately 74 feet. The ship looks to be corroded in rust and numerous barnacles, suggesting that it has been underwater for some time. Photographs from underwater expeditions reveal countless chains connecting to metal hooks attached to the hull of SCP-3548, some of which carrying scraps of fish and meat.

On the surface of SCP-3548, a large smoke stack appears to release dense, musty smoke at uncharted times, followed by the distant yet easily audible call of fog horns. This noise will continue simultaneously for an estimate of 2 minutes.

The contents of the ship include several crew members, accompanied by a single captain [ All referred to as SCP-3548-B,] all wearing white masks and Navy uniforms dating around the time of World War 1. The crew members measure in height at approximately 6 feet, and have abnormally long legs. The masks of the crew members include zero facial features, with the exception of two slits for eye holes. Recent personnel have noticed splotchy stains under the eye holes, seeming to be tears. As far as studies go, there is no data of any face covered by the mask, other than two hyper-realistic eyes, boldly red and bloodshot.

SCP-3548 is has commonly been spotted near abandoned sea ports and docks, sometimes tending to appear often at major ports in the North. At indiscriminate times, two crewmen are seen at each port, each carrying a large wooden crate with contents including human organs and various tissue, with no trace of bones or hair. When coming into contact with a crew member, they will say something along the lines of "It's a fine day for fishing, isn't it?" SCP-3548-B's voice sounds of a standard middle aged male, but strangely muffled as if they were speaking underwater. Research shows that the reply given by a Class D has no effect on SCP-3548-B, rather silencing them for a short period of time before they ask again.

Short after, SCP-3548 will emerge from the ocean, and begin approaching the port. When subject comes in close proximity to the port, a small, rotting lifeboat consisting of nothing but a crew member and additional planks of wood will be sent from SCP-3548. Without speech, SCP-3548-B will begin loading the crates onto the lifeboat. As the process comes to an end, the lifeboat delivers the crates onto SCP-3548 and is stored within the ship.

SCP-3548 then drifts away from the port, and may continue towards an alternate port, or abruptly submerges underwater, disappearing into the depths. SCP-3548 becomes undetectable as it sinks into the water containing stirred up dirt and sand. No records show how or where SCP-3548 descends, but theories due to wreckage exploration suggest alternate dimensions or spaces, as there is no remains of the ship left behind.

Addendum: Two tracking devices have been tested on the exterior of SCP-3548, but have disappeared prone to the subject submerging underwater. Class D have entered the interior of SCP-3548, and have gathered different results. Most have been found dead or mutilated, suggesting SCP-3548-B was the cause. SCP-3548-B was recently marked as becoming hostile towards any entities who come in close contact with SCP-3548, interfere with their delivery process, as well as boarding SCP-3548 for approximately ten minutes. Recent tests suggest the metal hooks on the bottom hull of SCP-3548 will try to pull other objects underwater when in close contact. For research purposes, Site ██ has been established near an active port for SCP-3548 known as ██████. There is very little known about SCP-3548. We await further instructions to infiltrate SCP-3548.

Interview Logs:

D ████ ( Class D )

Dr.██████ ( Interviewer )

The Class D has witnessed the interior of the subject. We will be extracting a brief review from him, as we know very little about the properties of SCP-3548.

Log begins 6:27 PM, 20██

Interviewer: Alright. So, give me information on what the interior looked like.

Class D: Man, it made me feel sick.

Interviewer: How so?

Class D: [pause] It was a giant storage area, flooded with randomly placed boxes and human guts. Made me want to vomit.

Interviewer: Hm. [documents response] How did the crew members act in contact with you?

Class D: They just kinda stared at me… gave me shivers down my spine, ya know? Within a few minutes, I decided to head back up to the surface. That's when hell broke loose.

Interviewer: What happened? Did SCP-3548-B act hostile in any way?

Class D: Well, as soon as I got back to the surface, those damn things started lunging at me. I was only so lucky to have made it back to the dock.

Interviewer: I see. [documents response] Tell me, did you ever feel any abnormal symptoms?

Class D: The only thing I recall is feeling light-headed. Maybe sick to my stomach, too.

Interviewer: Noted. Thank you for your time. We will use this in further studies and interviews.

Log ends 6:35 PM, 20██

The data states that personnel entering could result in uneasy feelings, however, this could be caused by viewing the human corpses. Unfortunately, the Class D didn't witness the submerging of SCP-3548.

Crew member ( SCP-3548-B )

Dr.██████ ( Interviewer )

The SCP was successfully contained and taken in for any chance of communication.

Log begins 4:43 PM, 20██

Interviewer: [ clears throat ] SCP-3548-B, do you understand anything I am saying?

SCP-3548-B: [ silence ]

Interviewer: Allow me to repeat that. Do you understand anything I am saying?

SCP-3548-B: It's quite a fine day for fishing, isn't it?

Interviewer: What? Do you understand a single word I'm saying?

Log interrupted, 4:52 PM, 20██

SCP-3548-B began to stare at Dr.██████ for an estimate of 9 minutes and 30 seconds before it started lunging at him. Mobile Task Force Unit, Gary ████, was forced to terminate SCP-3548-B. There was no data gathered of SCP-3548-B communicating with any entities, including its own. However, they never seem hostile toward each other, only when an alternate entity comes in contact with them.
