Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4142 currently does not need to be contained as the events which make it up are already self containing. While human life may eventually be put at risk due to the nature of SCP-4142, it is not at all probable at the current time. In order to shield the public from knowing that we are indeed not alone, Protocol 49-I has been induced to wipe all databases and records of any known UFO sightings. Class-A Amenstics have been administered to 90% of the U.S Population in order to minimalize panic if proof were found of extraterrestrial existence. Description: SCP-4142 is not a currently understood anomaly, instead its designation number is given to describe extraterrestrial phenomena such as UFO sightings and UFO interaction. 4 anomalies included in the scope of SCP-4142 have been identified and properly classified as SCP-4142-1 through 4. All 4 of these anomalous spacecraft have been studied and replicated, 1 of which is identical to the Roswell Crash Site craft. The other 3 appear to have advanced antimateriel propulsion systems and controls that do not require manual attention. The study of these craft have led to upgrades to our own aircraft and technology thought not possible for another 100 years. I have taken the liberty of deciding first and foremost to delete any redactions from this proposition as whoever is reading this already has proper clearance. Hell, go ahead and kill me for disclosing the true nature of the events, which I will do in later entries. I fear I'm already dead anyway. I do not see a way to contain this anomaly as we have not exactly made it of our upmost importance, now is the time to change that. Designation number 4142, what exactly is it, and why have I designed Keter for it? Very good question. For hundreds, even thousands, of years humanity has looked into the great beyond with feelings of awe and horror. We all know that space stares back emotionless, except for when the products of its hellish maelstrom reach our planet. UFO's, a topic of some of the greatest conspiracies in human history, unexplained phenomena that visit our planet for some unknown reason. Many people have disappeared in the area known as the "Bermuda Triangle", however we've played it off to the public as methane gas vents causing atmospheric and oceanic disturbances. We lie to the public for their safety, or is it really for their safety? We, the Foundation, know of these events and choose to ignore them. This is because we know, at this current moment, there is nothing we can do to contain the events except for keeping a veil of secrecy over it. I would like to formally propose these events as SCP-4142-A, because I know that abduction and obstruction events are not the true SCP. My evidence for claiming this is an SCP is the fact that the UFO's are obviously here for some greater purpose other than flying around and instilling fear. It is looking for something, trying to discover what they can about us before choosing to strike or leave us alone. Something is sending these extraterrestrial crafts to our domain for a purpose, they've taken some of our own for testing and investigation and they are finished with that course. Now they are performing reconnaissance at a greater rate than 50 years ago, and not just in the United States. There are documented occurrences in every first-world country across the globe. It was noted that roughly two days prior to the writing of this log that Dr. Semply was exhibiting strange behavioral patterns and became fascinated with the night sky. Primarily the bright red star Betelgeuse. 4 hours after the log concluded a gunshot was heard from Dr. Semply's office in the early morning hours. Attempts at resuscitation failed and he was declared dead at 04:44:56 on 12/22/2017. Research was proposed to determine a possible cognitohazardous effect produced by the true SCP-4142 that Dr. Semply was possibly influenced by in his final hours. However the O5 Council issued a direct command to not view the Orion Constellation and System until further notice.
Personal Notation by O5-4: I'm beginning to believe that astronomers were right when they warned us not to meddle with the universe and its endlessness. The cosmos is violent and unpredictable, something our feeble human minds cannot comprehend. From this point forward I am seconding the notion to heavily monitor the Orion Constellation with unmanned spacecraft and not by researchers until testing upon D-Class subjects with high resolution photographs of the System is completed. Betelgeuse may be the anomaly 4142 itself and should be avoided at all costs until further investigation. Damn, my heads feeling pretty f—-ed up at the moment, I need to stop reading this stuff.
