An average Stinkhorn Mushroom, Phallus indusiatus as it’s called appeared in a swamp, in southern flooded Florida area. The mushroom was white stemmed and green tipped like others of its kind, and it’s presence was none too suprising to passers by. It was about to reach its bloom, but it had undergone a mutation, it’s murky green tip had turned bright pink and its size had multiplied more than before. The ridge at the base of its tip curled upward. It’s shook, and released a deep black cage like veil covering the swamp. It’s spores rained down upon the swamp area. The inhabitants of the swamp area (animals and the few humans there for research) were at this fungus’ mercy. From a duo of researchers accounts “ The sun was completely covered…..and we saw a shadowy mass crawling upon the mushroom cage.”
