Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid reclassification pending
Following are excerpts taken from Dr. Raikovski's personal notes on SCP-XXXX ranging from SCP-XXXX's first containment to 02/03/2020 (see incident fatherded)
Had to think about my daughter. Had to stop myself from thinking. Je schneller ich mit dem Kind fertig werde, umso schneller kann es seinen Vater wieder vergessen. Darf nicht an sie denken, äußerst hinderlich.
XXXX-FN-1
I reviewed the items retrieved from XXXX's home and… i may have found something great within XXXX. If it speaks true one can only imagine what XXXX may be capable of, if handled the right way that is. It is not hostile, it shows great interest in the Foundation… what if we have a child on our hands that could change the flow of history? Figuratively speaking of course.
It could build inventions beyond our imagination that could help us in many ways. Imagine XXXX producing thaumiel containment chambers, imagine it curing cancer? We have means for the latter, but, need i remind you that most of those come at a cost? At least the ones my clearance allows me to acknowledge do.
further thoughts:
- XXXX argues that it made more than 10 anomalous items prior to "[…] third grade […]". Does not show any realitybending properties at first glance. What made it's powers stop? Have i stumbled upon a way to rid realitybenders of their power?
- XXXX shows great interest in the Foundation. Maybe because of the desire to be a secret agent. This may be of use
To-Do:
- revisit Strantons guide
- brief the Security Guards in charge
- schedule testing to determine whether XXXX has realitybendingRoom NY-12; Friday, 1400-1600. properties
- review XXXX's background check files, focus on events happening between second and third grade
Test results do not reaffirm XXXX's claims.
XXXX-FN-2
The most probable thing that caused XXXX's powers to cease is XXXX's father's imprisonment. Futher investigation upon the father's current whereabouts lead to an intriguing discovery:
it appears that XXXX's father is in Foundation custody, stationed at site-14 as a D-Class hereby referred to as D-29855.
further thoughts:
If my theory is correct and XXXX's properties to produce anomalous items are were hindered due to D-29855 leaving XXXX's family, one could suppose that reintroducing them to each other may prompt XXXX's powers to return…
We need to find out whether it was XXXX who produced said items or whether it was something else. Interviews with the father may shed light on the situation
To-Do:
- find a way to reintroduce D-29855 to XXXX
An Envelope made from a crudely ripped Foundation-standard paper, adressed to SCP-XXXX was found beside D-29855's body. A letter found inside the Envelope is kept at site-24 in a lockerroom, beside SCP-XXXX-1 instances, that are deemed safe.
Message written on the Envelope:
to: Matthew
I swear to god, if one of you fucked up fashists reads this note
which is NOT meant for you i will come back to haunt you to your grave. This all happend because of you.
How are you able to live with yourself??
Letter retrieved from the envelope:
Dear Matthew,
I am sorry it had to come this far.
I never would have been able to think of something so fundemantaly wrong and awfull happening to us to you.
Dad has done so much stuff he is not proud of, but you never did anything wrong. Them bringing you into this is not justifiable. Never, let someone who works here convince you otherwise. Even if they seem nice. They are not your friends.
Never, believe anything that happend to us is your fault. You are an amazing human being and the best child a father could wish for.
You deserved so much better than this. I am sorry for everything. That i was a horrible father, that i got us here, that you will never see the light of day again, that you will never even see this letter.
Maybe you will understand why i had to do this someday.
Please forgive me. I'll always watch over you.
Forever with you,
Dad

Page Type: SCP Article
Genre: Drama/Emotional
Theme: feeling abandoned (/failing to meet expectations)
Page Layout: mostly consisting of logs detailing father-kid relationship
Elevator Pitch: A kid, once able to build anomalous inventions, is left only able to when the kid's father shows how much he appreciates the object. This is due to him leaving the family years prior to the kid's containment, traumatising the kid and handicapping his minor realitybending powers. The father, in turn, became a D-Class. The foundation manipulates the kid to build inventions that could benefit them, and blackmails the father into showing appreciation by threatening him with killing his child. Finally the father kills himself to stop the Foundation using his kid to build (what he percieves as) nightmarish contraptions.
Central Narrative: In terms of the "untitled essay regarding scps, narratives, and how they can share a page" essay: a mixture of the "Expository Method" and the "Self-Insertion Method", sprinkled with a little bit of the "Incident Log Method". The Article is driven by the father-kid-foundation relationship, father and kid both longing to be together as a happy family, but being denied by the Foundation.
Hook/Attention-Grabber:
- Kid-Father character development
- Inventions that the Foundation wants the Kid to build for its "personal" gain
Additional Notes: This is a reworked version of an already existing thread named "Kid Scientist". Because it was heavily reworked i decided to post it again.
Initial Father-Kid relationship
The SCP is an realitybending kid that was able to build anomalous objects out of everyday items, before it's father left it's family. The Foundation notices that the Kid's father is in foundation custody, as a D-Class. To prove their theory of the father's disappearance correlating with the child's powers, and whether the kid is telling the truth (it creating the anomalous objects that led to its discovery), the Foundation reintroduces them to each other. This enables the kid to build anomalous items once again, but the fathers disappearance left a scar on the kids powers: The kids inventions only work when the father shows acknowledgement/appreciation for the kid's inventions.
Characterisation: Father
The father is a caring parent, and wants best for his child. He is aware of his past mistakes that led him to the Foundation and wants to reunite with his kid.
Characterisation: Kid
The kid is naive and is eager to work for a secret organisation (as the Foundation) as a scientist. It's fear of being abanoned, aswell as it's constant need for affirmation is what drives the plot. This worsens in the end as the Father commits the die, and worsens even further as it realises that the Foundation does not need it without it's powers.
How the child's powers work
The child's anomalous objects work once, while the child first presents them to its Father, and seize to work if the child is not convinced that the father is proud of it (in direct context of the invention). However if the kid receives enough affirmation the anomalous effect lasts for indefinite amounts of time (= does not end). Worded diffrently: Invention works if the Father is amazed by it upon first contact.
What happens in Foundation custody
The Foundation tries to "harvest" inventions and manipulates the kid by telling it what inventions the father would be proud of. this is where i need your help
Option 1) As testing continues the Kid shows immense realitybending properties. To suppress his powers once again they…
- a) …keep the father sedated when child and father meet in order to suppress visual affirmation that the kid needs for its inventions to work.
- b) …keep the father away from the child for a while, trying to convince it that he left again
- c) …let the kid build something that kills the father. (risking a realitybenders breakdown? I don't think so…)
2) To show that inventions, other than those suggested by the Foundation, are not going to satisfy the father they sedate him, in order to suppress visual affirmation that the kid needs for its inventions to work. The kid tries to get it's father's approval, foundation abuses kid's eagerness to improve it's inventions and build utterly complicated ones. The father's visible reaction is heavily manipulated by the Foundation, by blackmailing him with killing the kid, if he does not act amazed/not amazed when needed. Kid is turned at the end of testing, building gruesome machinery and thinking that the father is proud. Last log ends in the father shedding a tear because of what his child is used for. Article ends in a note describing fathers uncompliant behaviour, climaxing into suicide, because he knew that this was the only way to end the Foundations abuse on his Kid (cutting the kid from its powers). Case is reassigned to another researcher. A request to reawaken the kid's powers by abducting it's mother is shut down by the Ethics Comittee. Other attempts are futile. Methods that would require harming (or threatening) the kid are denied, because "One does not poke an inactive realitybender with a stick and waits for something to happen.", as (to a certain extent) opposed to the previous attempt to harvest the child's inventions.
The SCP in question is a realitybending Kid of 8 years who is not aware of his abilities. The Kid is brought to Foundation attention after an incident at a sciencefair, where a model-volcano produced a small amount of magma which led to a fire in the schools gym. The site notices that there is a D-Class on site who seems to be the father of the kid.
First interviews with the kid reveal that it build mutliple anomalous items in the past (examples: Tincan cellphone that works though the conecting cords is cut, truly invisible ink, model-volcano), which are seized from its home, but stopped building them some time around the father leaving. Testing reaffirms that the child is unable to produce anomalous items. The Foundation theorises that the father leaving left a trauma that handicapped the childs realitybending powers. To prove that they have got the actual culprit they need to prove that the child possed RB powers, therefore the foundation reintroduces the kid to its father. The kid RB powers work again, but now it only builds to get gratification from its father. Further testing shows the anomalous objects only work when the Kid first presents it to its Father and seizes to work if the Father does not show enough appreciation. Worded diffrently: it works if the Father is amazed by it upon first contact. The Foundation manipulates the kid by telling it what inventions the father would be proud of, and manipulates the father into amazed states by constantly amnestesizing him to reach amazement (although he would be amazed by his child anyways, he may not be amazed by what weaponry the foundation wants the child to build). Logs will mirror the fact that he is amnestesised over an over again.
The Article itself will mainly focus on the relationship between the Kid and his Father, aswell as their relationship to the Foundation in form of testlogs, interviews and family time that the kid requested.
father cares about the kid, always likes kids stuff. Drama ensues in the Father. Foundation drives both appart. Father tries to intervene (how? they dont need him as a sacrifice. Maybe thats the drama? cop out[?]) this is ok
OR bout the kid, kid makes his stuff seem better and better to get the fathers attention, foundation abuses kids eagerness to improve. Drama ensues in the Kid__// but i like this one better
either way: fathers reaction is heavily manipulated by the Foundation. Amnestesiscs for amazement,
Sedating to dampen the visual amazement, kid does not receive affirmation. Latter is used more often to motivate the kid to providing best results. Kid is left broken at the end of testing, believing that it cannot produce anomalies that satisfy the father. Foundation wins.
because the kid always looses, it seems wiser to hurt the kid hard than to hurt both, father and kid, a little.
Theme: failing to meet expectations.
everything is falling in place. thank you TheCoolestBeans

Dear Diary.
Today was a good day. I finally got a job.
Even one that pays a slightly more then i expected for mopping some floors. Its odd that they have security checks, and even more odd that their security is equipped with enough weaponry to stop a terrorist attack. No life-insurency coverage though, but i don't intend on dying while cleaning some bureaucrat's cubicle. Monica was so proud of me. She gave me that priceless look again, maybe we are going to workout after all. Work starts on monday, lets see how this goes.

Dear Diary.
Today was interesting. Me and some other cleaners were sent to a seminar on how to mop correctly. I never said that i was a smart man, but i thought i knew how to handle washing freaking floors. But then this guy in his trenchcoat came along. Looked like some sort of professional to me. Told us that we may be going to see some funny business due to some reaction of the polish with the stonework. Bringin my own mask tomorrow. This place has a whole BUNCH of floors. Don't know how they expect the five of us to keep this place clean.

Dear Diary,
sorry for delaying you my old friend. Lost my sense of time and direction yesterday more often than in the last year combined. Heard constant zapping behind one door. Knew it was wiser not to ask. They took my mask so it may aswell have been the polish. But it was only this one door.
The following is an excerpt from former lead Researcher Dr. Raikowski's private essay on Realitbenders
[…] as you can see, realitybenders are quite an interesting concept. If, theoreticly speaking of course, we were able to harvest their power we could solve many problems we have on site. Think of how easy life could be. Now of course there are risks as i've talked about… but if done correctly… well it's safe to say, the possibilties are endless. […]
Special Containment Procedures: [telekill alloy] [maybe: SRA] [not allowed to recieve fictional works mentioning items with anomalous effects, unless under experimental circumstance after which it is to be given Class whatever amnestics read up on amnestics guide] [family time]
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be an 8 year old male caucasian child. Its anomalous properties manifest when it is provided with materials typically used for home engineering (bad sentence). The SCP will begin to build items with anomalous properties from now on reffered to as SCP-XXXX-1. [paraphrase: build stuff, maybe: constructing object].
Addendum: this is the core of the article. have to deliver
[interview with child]
[experiments with stuff the child wants to build]
[experiment with stuff the foundation wants the child to build]
[experiment leads to [REDACTED], amnestics]
[child is promised family time]

The range of anomalous properties SCP-XXXX-1's are able to inhibt are yet to be explored. exhibit properties that SCP-XXXX is convinced the objects should the whole sentence is not sciency. SCP-XXXX exhibits wish to become a scientist maybe cut that [note: how finding the child changes how to handle the D-Class father, father sees the Foundation as evil, had seen some gruesome stuff why not amnestisized? father is amnestisized because of bad view of Foundation //hurts my narrative.]
where would i put a guide on how to manipulate the child?
[Found while backgroundcheck D-Class [name] | SCP is the son of D-class | SCP made model volcano for sciencefair, it spewed small amounts of magma] [SCP builds stuff it wants to build , does not want to engage in "uninteresting ideas" everything told by scientists should be intriguing ][SCP agrees to conduct experiments after promised time with father and mother] [mother is researcher that resembles the mother that recieved acting lessons (yadayada analytic stuff; brief: how did they train her)]
