Unit: 1st Black Ops Unit-Phantom (Fireteam Phantom)
Abbreviation: FTP
Motto(s): “Tempus Fugit”
"Even the best, have to waltz with Death."
"Everyone runs out of Time eventually."
Purpose: Fireteam Phantom serves as an Elite Special Missions Unit designed for stealth, espionage, and lethality. Operating under the O5 Council, they serve as protective details and bodyguards for significant Council members and Administrators. The unit utilizes Direct Action, Interdiction, and Special Reconnaissance among other tactics for when they're in combat.
Uniforms: Fireteam Phantom wears uniforms that are equipped with a black and grey digital camo for night-time operations and urban environments. The Fireteam is also equipped with Oakley SI Ballistic Goggles that use mirrored and polarized black lenses to ensure their eyes can't be seen, photographed, or recorded. These goggles have been modified to include a heads-up-display with data on enemy and friendly positions on the battlefield. Fireteam Phantom also employs facemask's and balaclava's to hide their faces to ensure the secrecy of the unit.
Background: Fireteam Phantom consists of four main members, Captain Wolf, 1st Lieutenant Fox, 2nd Lieutenant Coyote, and Chief Warrant Officer Hyena. The unit was originally apart of MTF Alpha-1 ("Red Right Hand"), however, the O5 Council eventually decided to put the Fireteam under the Intelligence Agency as a coverup.
Every member of Fireteam Phantom is assigned to be the bodyguard and assassin for a specific member of the O5 Council. This fact is mentioned in the "O5 Command Dossier". The quote goes as follows, "Besides MTF-Alpha-01, each O5 has their own personal staff and security." -O5 Staff Section of the Dossier.
The following O5 Council Members have been assigned one of the Phantoms:
Administrator "The Official": Captain Wolf
O5-1 "The Founder": 1st Lieutenant Fox
Administrator Aelia "X": 2nd Lieutenant Coyote
O5-13 "The Tiebreaker": Chief Warrant Officer Hyena
It's known among the O5 Council that SCP Foundation spies report that ghost stories of Fireteam Phantom's work have begun to be passed around. It would seem that the unit has begun to be feared by members of foundations like the GOC, Chaos Insurgency, MC&D Ltd. and The Serpents Hand. The full extent of these "Ghost-Stories" is currently unknown. This information is hard to confirm though and it's thought that it may just be disinformation by the O5 Council.
Fireteam Phantom doesn't work with the Ethics Committee due to the drastic measures they take to complete their missions. It's believed, although it can't be confirmed as of yet, that Fireteam Phantom is prone to leaving no witnesses to their missions. As a coverup for who the Fireteam serves, it's said that they're just a Special Mission Unit for the Intelligence Agency. This would make sense due to the drastic measures the Intelligence Agency will use to ensure the secrecy of their operations. But just like with the "Ghost-Stories", this information can't be confirmed.
Fireteam Phantom is believed to use some of the best technology ever offered to a unit within the Foundation. A few pieces of technology that are common among its members is cloaking technology and jump kits. The Fireteam is also equipped with specialized helmets with voice-scramblers, allowing them to use their comms while not having to worry about enemies understanding what they say. Fireteam Phantom also employs the use of internally suppressed firearms. These firearms don't make a sound which allows for Fireteam Phantom to easily sneak into the target's location without alerting any guards.
All of Fireteam Phantom's operations are strictly classified by the O5 Council. Even if they become public they're heavily covered in black ink. Unlike normal humans, Fireteam Phantom seems to have improved strength, speed, hearing, etc. The reason for this is unknown and it's thought that the O5 Council may be the only ones who know why. However, this can't be confirmed, and it may all be an act of disinformation by the O5 Council.
Test-█ - █/██/██
Subject:
Fireteam Phantom's operatives will undergo extreme augmentations to twist the fate of combat farther into our favor. These augmentations are highly unethical and extremely unstable due to them having only been tested once before. The likely hood that these men will even survive the procedure is extremely low. But the procedure will go on. Although, I am having these men strapped to the operating tables to ensure they don't move during the procedure. -Dr. John ██████.
Procedure:
████████ ███████████ ██████████
Description/Risks:
Protein complex is injected intramuscularly to increase tissue density and decrease lactase recovery time. Five percent (5%) of test subjects experience a fatal cardiac volume increase.
Results:
Subjects muscle density was increased by at least ██%. Subjects should be able to experience immense physical stress without their muscles tearing. Allowing for subjects to lift heavier items without tearing the muscles. The subject's weight increased by at least 20 pounds.
Procedure:
█████████ ███████ ███████
Description/Risks:
Platinum pellet containing human growth hormone catalyst is implanted in the thyroid to boost the growth of skeletal and muscle tissues. Rare instances of Elephantiasis.
Results:
Subjects muscle mass was increased by at least ██%. Subjects height increased by at least 15.24cm (5 inches). The subject's weight increased by at least another 10 pounds. Subjects should be able to lift items that are double their weight. Subjects should also be able to run at double the speeds of an average human.
Procedure:
█████████ █████████ ██████
Description/Risks:
Submergence and boosted blood vessel flow beneath the rods and cones of the subject's retina. Produces a marked visual perception increase. Retinal rejection and detachment. Permanent blindness.
Results:
Subjects field of view is increased by at least ██%. The subject's eyesight is sharp enough to allow them to virtually see in the dark. Subjects should be able to see a wider array of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Procedure:
████████████████ █████████████ ██ ██████ █████████
Description/Risks:
Alteration of bioelectrical nerve transduction to shielded electronic transduction. 300% increase in subject reflexes. Anecdotal evidence of a marked increase in intelligence, memory, and creativity. Significant instances of Parkinson's Disease.
Results:
Subjects reaction time increased by at least ██%. Subjects reaction time should be faster in the event of a combat situation, can't confirm without the proper testing. Subjects should be to think, react and see things a lot slower than normal humans.
Analysis:
Out of the original six (6) members of Fireteam Phantom, 2 of them died during the augmentation process. The remaining four (4) members of the Fireteam were given 2 months to get used to their new bodies. Although the subjects were in a state of unconsciousness, where the subject should not have felt any pain, the effects of the augmentation procedures produced excruciating pain. Due to these reports, I have no idea how we only lost two subjects to the experiment. But, I do not suggest repeating this experiment with more soldiers, the remaining men barely survived the experiment, to begin with. The side effects of completing the augmentations varied, as the subject's brain re-learned how to move their body with faster reflexes and stronger muscles. The subjects have experienced neurological confusion that included falling over, exaggerated reflexes, and difficulty grabbing and holding objects. The subject could have experienced bleeding eyes, intense pain, constant headaches, and aches in the bones. As time went on, the side effects for successful subjects diminished either completely or to the point where it was considered mild. Other side effects include the loss of emotions, such as remorse, the loss of the ability to express emotion through their voice (Monotone), and the loss of experiencing pain. It is still unknown how the augmentations caused these side-effects but we will begin testing the subjects to ensure their bodies can perform the expected acts as ordered. Those test results will be sent when they're completed. -Dr. John ██████.
Post-Augmentation Interview-█
Interviewer: Dr. James Votrosky
Interviewee: Chief Warrant Officer Hyena
Foreword: After the augmentations Chief Warrant Officer Hyena allowed us to interview him to find out what it was like being augmented.
<Begin Log>
Dr. Votrosky: Please state your name, rank, and age for the record.
Hyena: Codename or real name, sir.
Dr. Votrosky: Your codename will suffice.
Hyena: Hyena, Chief Warrant Officer, age 17.
Dr. Votrosky: (He jots down those details) Can you describe the feeling of being augmented, Mr. Hyena?
Hyena: My veins felt as if they were injected with napalm, sir. They felt as if they were pulsating so much that they would be torn out of my skin. It felt like my entire body was on fire mixed with the feeling of plate glass shattering and being worked into my skin. The pain was excruciating, sir.
Dr. Votrosky: I see, (He writes something down). How do you feel about losing two of your comrades to the augmentations?
Hyena: I will miss them. One of them was my mentor. He trained me to become the team's combat medic. But now he is dead. However, Captain Wolf tells us to forget the past, as those who can't move on, will be stuck in the trap that is your past. So, while I will miss my mentor, I will move on so that the mission can be upheld.
Dr. Votrosky: Hmm, that will be all, Mr. Hyena.
Hyena: Um-…. Alright, sir? (He gets up and leaves)
Dr. Votrosky: Let it be known that throughout the entire interview, Hyena didn't show any sign of remorse or emotion at all. Also, it should be noted that his voice seemed to be monotone, which wasn't recorded in his file before the augmentations.
<End Log>
Closing Statement: Hyena and the rest of Fireteam Phantom spent the next two months getting used to their new bodies before the next stage of testing was started.
