SCP-4002 "Black Box"

Item # SCP-4002, Code-name: "Black Box".

Object class: Euclid

Containment procedure: As of this time there is no clear containment procedure for SCP-4002. Instances of SCP-4002-1 are to be interviewed by personnel and should receive a full physical, and psychological exam. Any anomaly found in these exams is to immediately reported to Dr.Silva. Instances of SCP-4002-1 are to be taken into custody following an incident. They may be released once all necessary testing is done since, as of this time, they pose no threat. Amnestics are to be used after the process is done, and surveillance is to be employed for the following 3 months after an incident. Unless determined otherwise by Dr. Silva.

Description: SCP-4002 Has been described as an ever-encompassing darkness. This SCP seems to surround individuals(SCP-4002-1) and keep them trapped in their personal bedroom. SCP-4002-1 have all described loss of electricity during incidents. Additionally, windows and door leading out of the bedroom become incredibly dark. No light producing devices, such as flashlights or smartphones seem to be able to illuminate out of the frames. Closets seem unaffected by this occurrence.

SCP-4002 has thus far only manifested in bedrooms and during the night-time. Every instance of SCP-4002-1 that attempts to escape the room by venturing into the dark is met by SCP-4002-2 instances. These are described as having white eyes and of amorphous figure. If approached they will launch tendrils, often described as hair or hair-like in nature, that will wrap around any resident present and attempt to pull them into the dark. As they do, a high pitched screeching will be produced. There has not ben a single case of SCP-4002-2 successfully capturing and individual as of yet (See Addendum ). As the night progresses individuals trapped in the room will hear a variety of noises. These include, but are not limited to, screaming of any other resident in the home, scratching, falling objects, screeching closely resembling instances of SCP-4002-2, etc. After approximately 8 hours (on average) the darkness will fade as daylight breaks. With the exception of SCP-4002-1 no other living beings have been found in the home after an incident of the aforementioned anomaly. Any pets or family members disappear without a trace. Furniture and locks show no signs of being moved or tampered, respectively. SCP-4002 has appeared on various places around the world. It is unknown how many times this anomaly has appeared, or for how long. Due to the particular nature of this SCP there is no way to contain or effectively tracking it.

[End of transcript]

Upon daybreak the mobile task force was able to leave the room and take the target into custody. Members of the task force have refused amnesics with the argument that their experience may serve the foundation in the future. Dr. Silva has recommended physiological aid instead, and that the Mobile Task Force-Zed-4 is used in future encounters with SCP-4002. Final verdicts on the matter are awaiting approval from the 05 Counsel.
