Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX

Description: SCP-XXXX refers to a 20,000 m^2 area located approximately 75 km from █████, Alaska. SCP-XXXX consists entirely of Canadian wild rye (Elymus canadensis). Comparison tests confirm no visual difference between SCP-XXXX and other similar wild rye fields in Alaska.

Wild rye growing in SCP-XXXX, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, follows regular growth patterns throughout the year. The reproduction of SCP-XXXX-1 occurs regardless of the soil conditions in SCP-XXXX or lack of seeds as germination is not necessary for the growth of new instances of SCP-XXXX-1.

Surrounding wildlife have been observed to consistently stay 5 meters or more away from any instance of SCP-XXXX-1. This includes wildlife never exposed to SCP-XXXX-1 (See Test Log XXXX-1). The origin of this collective knowledge is currently unknown.

Subjects that directly contact SCP-XXXX-1 experience a temporary inability to lose consciousness for extended periods of time. In 97% of test subjects, this period lasts between 48 to 72 hours. The remaining 3% experienced a period longer than 72 hours and resulted in a permanence in this condition, resulting in the subject dying from sleep deprivation. Subjects who do not surpass the 72 hour limit will experience sleep cycles similar to an individual with severe insomnia. Subjects will continue to experience these symptoms for 3 to 5 years with degrading severity.

A secondary anomalous property of SCP-XXXX occurs from constant direct contact with SCP-XXXX-1 for a minimum of 15 seconds. Subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX-1 in this matter will begin to experience a hypergargalesthesia sensation across their entire exterior. This causes the subjects to be functionally stunned, making any voluntary movements nearly impossible. This reaction has been found to continue indefinitely with no reduction in severity until the subject is no longer in contact with SCP-XXXX-1. This reaction occurs in all subjects with the initial condition of containing a functioning nervous system, regardless if the specific specie would react to a gargalesis stimulus in general.

If a subject becomes deceased from SCP-XXXX-1's secondary anomalous property, the subject (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-2) activates a third anomalous property. SCP-XXXX-2 will not decompose as normal. Instead, SCP-XXXX-2 will automatically begin to radioactively decay. This decaying process happens to all atoms in SCP-XXXX-2, regardless of any specific atom's natural half-life. This radioactive decay occurs until every atom of SCP-XXXX-2 has decayed into Hydrogen and Helium.

The electromagnetic waves emitted by SCP-XXXX-2 vary in frequency depending on the distance between SCP-XXXX-2 to SCP-XXXX. When SCP-XXXX-2 is inside SCP-XXXX, the frequency has been found to be between █MHz and ██MHz. Testing has found that radios can receive these electromagnetic waves within a distance of 10 meters. Transmissions from these radio signals have produced sounds of faint laughter and (DATA EXPUNGED). When SCP-XXXX-2 is approximately 1██km from SCP-XXXX, it will begin to radiate frequencies between 5 x 10^█ THZ and 1 x 10^█ THZ resulting in severe burns and (DATA EXPUNGED).
