Item #: SCP-499X
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-499X is to be contained in a suspended magnetic confinement container. The electromagnetic mechanism must contain 2 triple redundant, 65,000 volt helio-coils. The container shell shall be constructed of, 10-16 centimeters thick, hardened palladium alloy. The convergence of electro-reasonance must be in the negative 2000 spectrum.
Brief History: SCP-499X was recovered from an underwater crash site in the Issyk Kul lake in Eastern Kyrgyzstan. A russian research team, while searching at a depth of 580 meters, discovered the wreckage in the spring of 1993 but did not return to retrieve any items until the summer of 1997. It was then that the reclaimation team dove with two manned submersibles and one unmaned submersible called V.E.T.D.R.
During their investigation, the first manned submersible piloted by Adrik Kuznetsov, along with his crew member Luka Vesili, suffered catastrophic power failure at a depth of 550 meters. Submersible team two reported infrared light pulsating from SCP-499X at the time of failure. They were descending at approximately 500 meters when they observed the purple colored beams coming from the wreckage. Radios died instantly, and they reported seeing submersible one descend toward the object, fading into the blackness below.
Rescue operations showed no signs of submersible one.
Description: SCP-499X is a dark, seemingly metallic object. It pulsates with a hum, and when in contact with any matter; organic or not, the matter appears to disintegrate. Strangely enough, the object seems to choose which material it allows contact with it. When the research team pulled it from the depths, it caused no harm until it reached a storage area in San Diego.
