Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-002 1/2 is to be kept in a 4 m x 4 m x 4 m chamber with multiple 6 mm LED panels covering each wall entirely. The panels are to undergo consistent maintenance and checks every month. The chair is to be hanged in the center of the room, 2 m from the top & bottom, with clear, thick, plastic chains containing bioluminescent bacteria, in case of LED panel failure. It is to be guarded at all times by 3 level-2 security personnel with a need to know basis and 1 security officer. No care is needed; SCP-002 1/2 has no apparent need for food, water, or sleep.

Description: SCP-002 1/2 is similar to a regular, wooden dining chair with a cushion on top. The cushion absorbs all light that reaches it, making the appearance entirely black. If the chair experiences little to no light, 6 lanky arms start to protrude from the cushion; 3 arms on the left and right of the chair; propping itself up like a spider. When its arms makes contact with a surface, a black substance begins to spread among it; the area the substance covers has the same qualities as the cushion, leading to additional arms being formed. As the area of growth increases, the amount and size of the arms begins to scale with it. When there is an area of the substance that is suitable for SCP-002 1/2, it is able to mesh into that specific area and emerge from any other substance that is veiled or from a dark enough shadow.

The spreading can be halted if 50,000 lumens is directed towards SCP-002 1/2 when 50 cm away from it; if the light source is stronger, it can dissipate at an accelerated rate. When SCP-002 1/2 is in contact with light, the black substance commences to sizzle and contract back into its cushion, retaining its regular form. The cushion can't be damaged by anything, either from light nor weapons. If a subject were to put their appendage into the cushion, it will have the same effects as the cushion, which results in extreme sensitivity from light. It has been claimed that some subjects who placed their hands in the cushion are not able to control their appendages, either it becomes limp, has spasm, or has a mind of its own. Area of exposure that has been affected has a constant burning sensation as if its inside a fire when it is exposed to light.

If there is an elevated amount of lumens, the appendage or item slowly dissolves into ash. If the ash is placed in a room with no source of light, the item then returns to its original state. When the appendage is separated from the host, it becomes very hostile to anything sentient. Once a subject is fully submerged into the cushion, they either do not return or return fully engulfed in the substance and appear lanky. The subject struggles to walk from its poor physique and their eyes illuminate a bright white; once it experiences the light of the chamber it then shrieks and explodes into black matter, staining the walls. The matter slowly shifts towards the cushion until it dissipates.
