SCP-XXXX is a cognitohazard, as it was newly discovered that it can continue to use its anomalous properties even through photos as long as it is in close range. It appears that subjects must have perceived the anomaly first before being able to fall victim to it.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a large chest with the characteristics of an old treasure chest. Barnacles and all kinds of underwater greenery have grown on it, as it was recovered from an isolated cove.

Guards who are assigned to SCP-XXXX often go missing. After the loss of 15 subjects and the According to a surviving close-victim, the entity emits songs about what its victims wished for the most, and as the subject walks to the chest and opens it, they are mercilessly pulled inside by appendages of unknown origin with their screams echoing in the wooden body of the entity. The shrieks would last for hours on end before going dead silent. It is not yet confirmed what exactly SCP-XXXX does to these victims, however, it is hypothesized that it consumes them.

Discovery: The anomaly was found at Rockport Beach in Texas back in 19██. The Foundation was called upon the scene when mother of its two latest victims, now Ethics Committee member Dr. Lynia "Stellar" ███████, phoned the local authorities in a flying panic and fright. Grade B amnestics were registered to any civilians who may have witnessed the event, and Dr. Lynia was recruited as a junior researcher.

Addendum-1: Three blind D-Class personnel were tested with SCP-XXXX. This yielded strange results, and the subjects reported no anomalous behavior at first. However, when they laid hands on the item, two of them suddenly shrieked about lies concerning their eyesight with the last one grasping at the chest, now being a victim as the others backed away. The remaining subjects now reported calming songs of promises of getting their sense of sight back, yet they had managed to refused and begged asked to be taken out of containment. Request granted.

Addendum-2: Three deaf D-Class personnel were tested with the item, and it has made confirmations. Victims need to have perceived the anomaly, visual or otherwise, and be able to listen to their vocalizations, otherwise, they are completely safe from it. All subjects requested to be taken out of containment. Request granted.
