Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX should be kept in a locking anomalous object container at site ██, measuring approximately 20cm by 5 cm. The container should be lined with foam with cutouts designed to hold each instance of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX should not be accessed without O4 approval. No D-Class personnel are allowed access to SCP-XXXX-2, due to the specifics of its effects. Two members of security staff are to be present during testing of SCP-XXXX at all times to enforce this. Any D-Class personnel attempting to access SCP-XXXX-2 will be subject to immediate termination. Per O5 directive, testing of SCP-XXXX-4 is currently suspended.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is a set of five coins of varying size closely resembling coins from US currency. The Latin inscription "E Pluribus Unum" has been removed, each coin bearing a new individual inscription in its place, also in Latin. Each inscription, when translated, is indicative of the specific anomalous properties carried by the specified instance of SCP-XXXX. The word "Liberty" has also been removed from the front face of each coin, as well as the minting date. Material analysis shows that each instance of SCP-XXXX is comprised of the same materials coins of their type would be made from in non-anomalous form. Each coin seems to have three separate effects, depending on the result after being flipped by a sapient test subject. Any singular instance of SCP-XXXX will return to the place from where it was flipped, rejoining the others at a distance no less than 2cm within one hour after being flipped.

+ SCP-XXXX-1: Luck's Penny

SCP-XXXX-1:
A U.S. penny. The Latin inscription, "Dies Bonam Fortunam"appears on the back face of the coin above the relief of the Lincoln Memorial.
Effect 1: If SCP-XXXX-1 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the front face visible, the subject will have a noticeable positive change in their luck for a period of no less than ██ hours, though in ██ cases so far, it has not yet worn off.
Effect 2: If SCP-XXXX-1 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the back face visible, the subject will meet with frequent, and often hilarious minor misfortunes for no less than ██ hours. In three cases, the effects have not yet worn off.
Effect 3: IF SCP-XXXX-1 is flipped and not caught by the subject, purposely or on accident, the subject will see no change in their luck and the object will no longer activate its anomalous properties when used by that specific subject.

If SCP-XXXX-1is flipped and caught, it will show no anomalous properties if flipped by the same subject within a 24 hour time period.

SCP-XXXX-1: Front and Back Faces

+ SCP-XXXX-2: Traveler's Nickel

SCP-XXXX-2:
A U.S. nickel. The Latin inscription, "Iter Orbis Terrarum" Is engraved on the back face of the coin above the relief of Monticello. Subject must choose a destination before flipping, or there will be no anomaolus effect.
Effect 1: If SCP-XXXX-2 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the front face visible, the individual will immediately vanish, appearing at the destination they selected. Subject will find on their person a prepaid debit card loaded with $5,000 USD. Upon spending these funds, subject will be transported back to the exact place they initially flipped SCP-XXXX-2 within two hours.
Effect 2: If SCP-XXXX-2 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the back face visible, the individual will immediately vanish, appearing somewhere within the same country as their chosen destination. Unlike the first effect, however, the subject will only be carrying whatever items and funds they had prior to flipping SCP-XXXX-2, incliding the item itself. If flipped again after a ██ hour time period, the subject will return to the exact spot where they initially flipped the object.
Effect 3: If SCP-XXXX-2 is flipped and not caught by the subject, purposefully or by accident, the subject will be teleported to a random location on earth, leaving the coin behind. After ██ hours, the individual will be returned to the spot where they had been when flipping the coin, no matter what condition they might be in.

If SCP-XXXX-2, is flipped and caught, it will show no anomalous properties if flipped by the same subject within a 2 week time period.

SCP-XXXX-2: Front and Back Faces

+ SCP-XXXX-3: Gambler's Dime

SCP-XXXX-3:
A U.S. dime. The Latin inscription "Contritio et Divitiae" is engraved on the back face of the coin between the relief of the branches and torch.
Effect 1: If SCP-XXXX-3 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the front face visible, a slip of paper will appear in the subject's hand, containing the subject's full legal name and account and routing information for an account with the ██████ bank chain. When accessed, the account will hold no less than $10,000 USD.
Effect 2: If SCP-XXXX-3 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the back face visible, the subject will find that any money they might have had on them (with the exception of any instance of SCP-XXXX) missing, and any credit or debit card they might be carrying will be declined. This effect seems to last no less than ██ days. In ██ recorded cases so far, there has not been an end to this effect.
Effect 3: If SCP-XXXX-3 is flipped and not caught by the subject, purposely or by accident, any money the subject comes into contact with (with the exception any instance of SCP-XXXX) will immediately change to currency not compatible with the country they are currently in. This effect seems to last no less than ██ days, though in ██ instances so far, there had been no end to the effect. Should the effect end at any point, any and all currency the subject has come into contact with will revert back to its original form.

If SCP-XXXX-3 is flipped, whether it is caught or not, it will show no anomalous properties if flipped by the same subject within a 30 day period of time.

SCP-XXXX-3: Front and Back Faces

+ SCP-XXXX-4: Hero's Quarter

SCP-XXXX-4:
A U.S. quarter. Both faces are deeply scratched and heavily worn. The Latin inscription, "Benedictionem et Maledictionem" is engraved on the back face of the coin above the relief of the eagle.
Effect 1: If SCP-XXXX-4 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the front face visible, the subject will be granted an anomalous ability. This ability seems to be entirely based around the subject's strengths and personality. However, this ability will carry a negative side effect appropriate to the ability itself. This effect lasts no less than ██ days, and in one instance so far, the effect has yet to wear off.
Effect 2: If SCP-XXXX-4 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the back face visible, the subject will be subjected to an anomalous malady, which is also personality based, but focuses on the subject's weaknesses instead. However, this malady appears to come with a positive side effect that seemingly makes the affliction somewhat tolerable for the subject. This effect lasts no less than ██ hours, and in ██ cases, has yet to wear off.
Effect 3: If SCP-XXXX-4 is flipped and not caught by the subject, purposely or by accident, there will be no anomalous effect on the subject, positive or negative, and the object's anomalous properties will no longer activate if flipped by the same subject.

If SCP-XXXX-4 is flipped, whether it is caught or not, it will show no further anomalous properties if flipped by the same subject.

SCP-XXXX-4: Front and Back Faces

+ SCP-XXXX-5: Mimic's Half-Dollar

SCP-XXXX-5:
A U.S. half-dollar. The Latin Phrase, "Alius Fieri" is engraved across the banner on the back face of the coin above the relief of the eagle.
Effect 1: If SCP-XXXX-5 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the front face visible, the individual will be given the ability to alter their appearance at will to look and sound like anyone they wish. Gender, age, height, weight, and race do not matter. The individual can even alter themselves to look and sound like celebrities or historical figures. This effect lasts for no less than ██ hours. In ██ cases, this effect has not yet worn off.
Effect 2: If SCP-XXXX-5 is flipped and caught by the subject, landing with the back face visible, the individual will be able to take the form of any non-anomalous animal they wish. They will retain their normal intelligence and lifespan, regardless of what they choose to become. This effect lasts for no less than ██ hours. In two cases, this effect has not yet worn off.
Effect 3: If SCP-XXXX-5 is flipped and not caught by the subject, purposely or by accident, the subject will be immediately transformed into a random household object for up to ██ days. They will be conscious and aware, but unable to function in any way outside of the limitations of the object they have changed into.

If SCP-XXXX-5 is flipped, whether it is caught or not, it will show no anomalous properties if flipped by the same subject within a 72 hour time period.

SCP-XXXX-5: Front and Back Faces

Discovery:
On April ██, 20██, SCP-XXXX was discovered when a police report out of ██████, Texas reached Foundation Field Agents in the area. The report was of a man, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-A, who had been arrested on suspicion of the murder of one Charles █████. The report indicated that SCP-XXXX-A had been detained and hospitalized for serious injury, but had miraculously recovered within hours of his arrest. He was transferred to the ████ County Jail pending investigation.

Upon being questioned by Officers from the ██████ Police Department, SCP-XXXX-A said that he had reacted in self defense when the deceased had attacked him after a negative outcome in a game of chance, wherein the deceased had lost a coin flip. The deceased, in an enraged state, had publically shot SCP-XXXX-A three times before SCP-XXXX-A managed to wrestle the gun away, turning it on the deceased and firing a single round into his head. SCP-XXXX-A made no mention of SCP-XXXX during this line of questioning.

SCP-XXXX-A was brought under Containment on April ██, 20██ along with his personal effects and the body of the deceased for closer examination. Dr. Morrigan performed the autopsy and examination on the deceased and SCP-XXXX-A's belongings with the aid of Researcher █████. A small cloth bag containing SCP-XXXX, as well as several other non-anomalous coins of U.S. currency, was found among SCP-XXXX-A's belongings. During examination of these items, SCP-XXXX was discovered by accident after Dr. Morrigan came under the effects of SCP-XXXX-4.

D-████ compplies and does not move until Researcher ████ is removed. Effect wears off after ██ hours.

During the autopsy of Charles █████ and initial cataloging of personal effects belonging to SCP-XXXX-A by Foundation Medical Examiner, Dr. Morrigan and Researcher █████, was unwittingly subjected to the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX-4. Researcher █████ was witness to the event.

After recovery and examination, Dr. Morrigan was returned to active status under observation after mandatory psychological evaluation. A second psychological evaluation was conducted ██ weeks after the incident to determine Dr. Morrigan's mental and emotional stability before a followup interview with her was conducted.

Interviewer: "Start from the beginning. Take your time."

Researcher █████: "Alright, well…Doctor Morrigan and I were assigned on intake and examination of everything that came in with XXXX. Well…What we thought was XXXX. Guess he's XXXX-A now. Dr. Morrigan did the autopsy on the guy XXXX-A killed while I went through XXXX-A's personal effects."

Interviewer: "And what did you find?"

Researcher █████: "Nothing at first. Just the kind of things you might expect to see in someone's pockets. Keys, wallet, a few reciepts, a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, lint, a cellphone, and a little little bag of change. One of those ones with a drawstring at the top."

Interviewer: "And that's where you found SCP-XXXX?"

Researcher █████ nods

Researcher █████: "Yeah, but I didn't know it at first. There was about seven bucks in change in it, XXXX mixed in with the rest. I didn't even notice that any of the coins looked different at first, except XXXX-4. Thing was scratched to all hell, but I've got quarters in my pocket that look just like that, so I didn't really think anything of it at first. Dr. Morrigan was wrapping up with the autopsy by the time I'd counted it all out."

Interviewer: "How did Dr. Morrigan come into contact with SCP-XXXX-4?"

Researcher █████ sighs and rubs his temples.

Researcher █████: "Well, like I said, I didn't know the coins were anomalous. I just thought he had a coin purse, kind of like my dad always had. Didn't seem odd. I'd layed out the change on the table and was moving on to check the wallet to see what all was in it. Dr. Morrigan came over and said something about being hungry and that once we got done here, we should go out and get something to eat. Food sounded great. It had been a long day and I was starving. So I made the joke, that since she came up with the idea, she should be the one paying. She laughed and said no way. She bought last time. We joked about it for a few minutes until she picked up one of the coins that was closest to her and said she'd flip me for it. Heads, I buy. Tails, she buys."

Interviewer: "And that coin was SCP-XXXX-4?"

Researcher █████ nods, running his hands through his hair.

Researcher █████: "I should've payed better attention to the coins. But I was tired and hungry and I hadn't seen anything that seemed off to me. If I had looked closer, I would've seen that they didn't look like the rest of the change. She flipped the quarter and caught it. She was smiling, telling me it was heads…and then she was screaming."

Interviewer: "What happened then?"

Researcher █████ shakes his head and shrugs, looking distressed.

Researcher █████: "I…I don't know how to describe it…she dropped to her knees, grabbing at her head and just…screaming, and…and then the shadows started bleeding."

Interviewer: "I'm sorry, could you repeat that?"

Researcher █████: "What do you want me to say here? The shadows in the room opened up like cuts and just started bleeding this…black…ooze and it all just made its way to her. Like it was drawn to her. I didn't know what to do, I…I just stood there, holding XXXX-A's wallet in my hand and watching while this stuff just came at her and she…████ it. Started leaking from her ███ and her ████ and out from under her █████ and she just sat there, wide eyed. She was staring up at he the whole time while the whites of her eyes turned black…she didn't stop screaming until her eyes rolled back and she passed out on the floor. Then the whole room went back to normal…like it never even happened."

A long pause as the Interviewer checks his notes and takes down a few more.

Interviewer: "You managed to retrieve SCP-XXXX safely after that?"

A short pause as Researcher █████ collects himself and nods.

Researcher █████: "Yeah…yeah, I checked on Dr. Morrigan first, just to make sure she wasn't dead…thank god she wasn't…Then I called medical and they came and took her up to the infirmary. She'd dropped the quarter when they came to get her and I didn't want to touch it right away. I had no idea what would happen if I did. So I went to find something to pick it up with, and when I came back, it was gone. But it didn't go far."

Interviewer: "Where did it go?"

Researcher █████: "Well, I looked around the floor for a minute or two, thinking maybe I kicked it or something, and then I saw the pile of change. And that was weird to me. I'd laid out all the coins side by side on the table, but now there was a stack of five right in the middle. I moved the rest of the change away as delicately as I could and then laid out all five of the coins. Wasn't until then that I saw they were different than the rest. I made notes of what I saw."

Interviewer: "Yes. I have them here. The word 'Liberty' removed from all of them, as well as the date they were minted, and the 'E Pluribus Unum' inscription changed. And each coin reads differently."

Researcher █████: "Yes. I wrote down what they all say and had a colleague, Dr. █████ do a translation for me. That's how we figured out roughly what all of them do."

Researcher █████ shakes his head, looking visibly angry. He scoffs.

Researcher █████: "I read the report on what XXXX-A said when the police questioned him. 'A game of chance'. That's what he said his victim was playing. I can't help but be curious how many people he got to flip XXXX-4. Hell, there might even be Skips here who are here because they flipped that damn quarter. If he had been there when Dr. Morrigan flipped it, I'll bet the sonofabitch would've smiled…sick bastard."

Interviewer: "Thank you for your time. This interview is concluded."

Interviewer: "How are you feeling?"

Dr. Morrigan: "Better than you might think, actually."

Interviewer: "I'm glad to hear it, Doctor. Can you tell us what happened when you were subjected to SCP-XXXX-4's anomalous properties?"

Dr. Morrigan is quiet for a moment. She appears to be thinking.

Interviewer: "Doctor?"

Dr. Morrigan: "I don't know exactly how to explain what it did to me…One minute, I'm fine, the next, I can feel every bone in my body on fire, bullets ripping through me, cuts, stab wounds, every kind of fatal thing you can think of, all happening to me all at once. It was too much to handle and I passed out."

Interviewer: "I see. Your colleague, Researcher █████ said that you told him SCP-XXXX-4 landed 'heads.' Seems that was not-"

Dr. Morrigan: "It did land heads. I wasn't lying when I told him that."

Interviewer: "In the limited testing we were able to do before the O5 Council called for a suspension, results showed that landing heads on SCP-XXXX-4 gave an ability that was beneficial to the subject, but with a drawback. Tails resulted in something more…unpleasant."

Dr. Morrigan: "When did I say that what that thing did to me wasn't beneficial?"

Interviewer: "Pain like that is…beneficial to you?"

Dr. Morrigan: "No. Not exactly. Not the pain itself. Not like that, but…I'm better at my job now."

Interviewer: "How so?"

Dr. Morrigan: "When I was cleared after the incident, I got back to work. Nothing better than just…diving right in to clear your head and get on with your life. But…when they brought me D-████ for autopsy, I touched him and…And I felt everything he went through. Hell, I saw everything he went through."

Interviewer: "And how exactly is that beneficial?"

Dr. Morrigan chuckles, shaking her head thoughtfully.

Dr. Morrigan: "It means that even if I do end up having to pick up my scalpel and use it when a body is put on my table, I already know everything I'm looking for…and more than I could ever find by just cutting. After someone's dead, D-Class or otherwise, you cant't just pull up a recorder and ask them questions. What they say, what they felt, how the body changed, if there's something we might need to worry about releasing…and now I know all of that, just by touching them."

Interviewer: "Are you saying you're a…clairvoyant of some kind?"

Dr. Morrigan shrugs. "Call it whatever you want. All I know is that I XXXX-4 made me like this and it's been helpful. It's perfect for what I do here. The drawback is that I don't just get to know. I get to feel and see, and soak it all in. I don't know if it will wear off, but I hope not. Regardless, I'm going to keep using it as long as it's here."

Interviewer: "That…is interesting, Doctor Morrigan."

//Dr. Morrigan is quiet for a moment, looking down at the table. When she speaks again, her voice is softer. More reserved.

Dr. Morrigan: "Why do I get the feeling I'm going to have my own Skip number sometime soon?"

Interviewer shakes his head.

Interviewer: Per the Council's Orders, you are to be allowed to continue your normal duties within the Foundation, Dr. Morrigan. Under observation, of course."

A long pause.

Dr. Morrigan: "Don't keep me in suspense ███. I know there's a 'but' to this."

Interviewer sighs.

Interviewer: "But…if you become a threat or if you try to run…"

Another long pause.

Dr. Morrigan: "I'm loyal to the Foundation. I'm not going to throw a fit or be offended by the fact they think I might go off the deep end. I've been here too long to think they have no reason to think that. But…I can help here. I can give answers no one else can. I can do good here, ███. I'll show them they have nothing to worry about."

Interviewer: "I'm sure you will, Doctor Morrigan…This interview is concluded."

Interview Log: SCP-XXXX-A-1
Interviewer: Dr. ███
Subject: SCP-XXXX-A

Interviewer: "Please state your name for the record."

SCP-XXXX-A: "Seriously? Between you and the cops, I've probably stated my name for the record about fifty times now in the last ██ days. Do you guys not know how to work a fucking pencil and paper? My name is ██████ █████████. Why bother asking if you're just going to call me whatever number dash A anyway?"

Interviewer: "How did you come into possession of SCP-XXXX?"

SCP-XXXX-A looks puzzled for a moment, pausing.

SCP-XXXX-A: "What, you mean the coins?"

Interviewer: "Yes. The coins."

SCP-XXXX-A scoffs, shrugging.

SCP-XXXX-A: "I found them in a garage sale a few years back. Used to have this little wooden case that held them, but some asshole stole it about a year ago, trying to take the dime from me. I had the rest of the coins in my hand when he went running. Dime came back to the rest about an hour later. They always come back if you've got at least three of them."

Interviewer: "I see. That's good to know."

SCP-XXXX-A: "Had a little note inside it too. Told you pretty much everything you needed to know about them and what each one does. Weird name on the thing though. Doctor Wonder-something, I think. I only really paid attention to what the names of the coins were."

Interviewer: "Yes, we've translated the Latin inscriptions on each of them."

SCP-XXXX-A shakes his head.

SCP-XXXX-A: "I don't know Latin. The note had their names next to little pictures of them. Luck's Penny, Traveller's Nickel, Gambler's Dime, Hero's Quarter, and Mimic's Half-Dollar."

Interviewer: "I'll make a note of that."

SCP-XXXX-A: "Yeah, you do that. Now when the fuck are you gonna let me go? I didn't do anything wrong. That asshole tried to kill me because he didn't like the flip he got with the dime. Told him the risks before he flipped the fucking thing and he did it anyway. Not my fault he got tails. No reason to try to kill someone. I'm fucking innocent here. I just want to go home. Keep the coins. I don't care."

Interviewer: "You aren't here because of the death of Mr. ██████."

SCP-XXXX-A: "Then why am I here?"

Interviewer: "Because you were shot three times in the attack and don't have so much as a bruise to show for it anymore."

SCP-XXXX-A is quiet for a moment, looking at the table.

Interviewer: "How did you heal from that so quickly?"

SCP-XXXX-A scoffs again.

SCP-XXXX-A: "What, you think I didn't flip them myself? I've had everything right happen for me through out my day, then had other days where I couldn't stop bumping into shit, tripping, falling, getting sprayed in the face by a leaky pipe…all kinds of shit. I've got a bank account with over forty million dollars in it. Had a scare for a few days where I couldn't touch a penny of it, but thank god the dime let me have my money back. I've been all over the fucking world. Places I've always wanted to go, all kinds of things I've wanted to see. Almost got dropped into a volcano in Hawaii once when I didn't catch the nickel, but that was just the once. I've looked like friends, family, famous people, cats, dogs, birds, all all of it. Even got turned into a barstool for a week once. That…was not fun. And the one time I flipped the quarter, I got heads, thank god. Made me able to heal from anything, but I have to eat raw meat every few days to make it work. Not exactly what I saw in mind when I thought about being a goddamn superhero, but I'm not dead, so…I guess it's worth it."

Interviewer: "So XXXX-4 gave you this ability then."

SCP-XXXX-A nods.

SCP-XXXX-A: "Be careful with that one. You get heads, it's pretty cool, for however long it lasts. But you get tails…not so much. I mean, it's not all bad, but…If I were you, I'd just avoid flipping that one. I got lucky. Some people don't."

Interviewer: "You've let others use SCP-XXXX before? Besides the man who attacked you?"

SCP-XXXX-A: "Well…yeah. I mean…who doesn't want a chance to just be the luckiest sonofabitch in the world? Or to just go wherever they want to? Or maybe have a boatload of cash just handed to them? Or be a fucking superhero? Or be whoever the hell they want to be? Maybe you guys here don't see it the way the rest of us normal people do, but…most people? They'd be happy to take the risk just for a shot at having something amazing happen to them."

Interviewer: "What SCP-XXXX does to people isn't always amazing, Mr. █████████. I'm sure the man who attacked you would agree. Perhaps even Doctor Morrigan."

SCP-XXXX-A is quiet for a long moment.

SCP-XXXX-A: "I heard about that, yeah…I mean, that's what the damn quarter does, but no one should ever flip that thing without knowing the risk. I would've told you guys about the coins, but…I mean, come on. I've only been here a few weeks now. How was I supposed to know you guys were the good guys? People like me might have good intentions with those coins, even if you don't believe I do, but there are plenty of people who would use them for horrible shit. I'm sure you guys know that."

SCP-XXXX-A sighs, running his fiingers through his hair.

SCP-XXXX-A: "I take it she got tails."

Interviewer: "No, she got heads."

SCP-XXXX-A looks surprised, then nods, seeming relieved.

SCP-XXXX-A: "I don't know what the quarter did to her…and I really don't want to know. But if it's any consolation, I hope whatever she got is something good. If you get a chance…tell her I'm sorry I didn't let you guys know what they did. Tell her I'm sorry for what happened. I heard she got hurt when it did what it does…I never want that to happen to anyone. I'm not a bad person."

Interviewer: "No one here is calling you a bad person, Mr. █████████. And I will relay the message. This interview is concluded."
