Primary Information
Object name - SCP-7836
Object Class - Safe
Special Containment Procedures - SCP 7836 is to be kept in a 5m x 5m room with no windows or light sources. It is to be kept in the center of the room to make it easier to monitor it. Upon an escape attempt, use the provided reflective material to simply take it back into the room until it goes back to the center.
Description - SCP 7836 is a circular spot of light with a radius of about 1m. It has no source and will never cast a shadow, but is known to cause burns to people who stand with any body part in the light. The burns appear within around 4 minutes. No UV protection appears to be able to stop this and it can only be moved using reflective material. It is known to be helpful as on [REDACTED] of May, in site [REDACTED] scientists were able to discover that it does not end. Upon getting it into a metal wall, the light could be seen perfectly from exactly 1 mile away on another wall, showing no signs of darkening. The experiment only went as far as 2 miles, showing the same results, but they are considering testing up to 10 miles to see if it will still project its light perfectly. The main reason it is to be kept in the center of the cell is that It can also cause burns and issue through windows of course and the 1 way window put beside the cell is to be kept clear of the light. They have not yet tested if the light is blinding, but this may be scheduled. The idea would be that a D-Class stands exactly 2m away from the light, and stares directly into it for 10 minutes. If the D-Class is shown to have lost full use of their eyes before this, it will be cut short and the experiment will be concluded. There is no danger in SCP-7836 except the burns. It does not usually move during containment breaches and stays in its cell in the center of the room. It is considered abnormal if the light can be seen shaking randomly or moving without any reflective glass. Only 3 incidents of this have occured in the [DATA EXPUNGED] amount of years it has been in the facility. There is also 1 incident that occured when SCP 7836 began shining into the eye of a scientist. It was considered to be another incident of it moving but the light followed the scientist's eye and never left. The scientist got away from the window and despite the light hitting the wall, it still followed the scientist's eye and the scientist showed signs of their eyes still hurting badly. The scientist was taken to an infirmary with only small injuries but that was when the cell walls were made thicker and wider to 5m x 5m, when it used to be 3m x 3m. There are 2 layers of wall in the cell as well, and this incident has never happened since.
