Item #: SCP-4002
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4002 is to be kept in locker 15673 at Site 12. Any individuals/groups wishing to test SCP-4002 must obtain clearance from the site director, and any computers and other materials/objects used in testing must be incinerated.
(Objects/lifeforms produced by SCP-4002 may be retained for observation with permission from the containment supervisor.)
Item Description: SCP-4002 is a virtual reality (VR) headset similar in construction to a HTC Vive
with a 6 In. USB cable extending from the underside. A label with the words "Wondertainment Inc. GamerVerse 3000" is permanently adhered to the side, and a button labelled "Enter the GamerVerse" is attached to the left eye assembly. When SCP-4002 is plugged into a computer running a game through the Steam service, it will provide a VR rendition of the game, regardless of whether VR is actually supported. If the "Enter the GamerVerse" button is pressed during use, the user will be replaced with a character from the game, with the user taking the character's place. These "swaps" generally coincide with the user's favorite character in the selected game. If SCP-4002 is placed on an inanimate object and the button pressed, it will be "swapped" with a similar object from the game.
Item History: SCP-4002 was discovered when Harrison ██████ attempted to play "Resident Evil" in his college dorm using SCP-4002. Harrison was "swapped" with a zombie from the game, wich proceeded to attack several students on campus. The Foundation intercepted a student's 911 call, the zombie was neutralized, and ammnestetics were dispersed throughout the campus.
Agents discovered SCP-4002 connected to Harrison's laptop during a search of his room.
Unfortunately the laptop's battery had died and Harrison was not present in-game upon restart.
