Camera surveillance will be required to make sure SCP-4524 always has a book in its hands. Under the event SCP-4524 does not have a book in its hand a D-Class personnel will enter the room posing as a librarian and will proceed to place a new books in the bookshelf’s in SCP-4524’s containment room. Description:SCP-4524 is a seemingly normal wooden sculpture of a small man, 1m high, sitting on a invisible seat, hunched forward. His two hands are merged to form a slightly concave platform for something to be placed on. The wood that make up the sculpture strongly resembles redwood but with some slight variations. When testing SCP-4524 a bookshelf feel on it, rupturing it’s head and [REDACTED] hemorrhaged from the rupture. This rupture was self-repaired by the ███ pulling the broken pieces back together.
SCP-4524 was contained by the foundation when it killed █ workers in a warehouse in [REDACTED]. It was transported to the warehouse from a old library in [REDACTED].
SCP-4524 dangerous anomalous properties can only be suppressed by the presence of a history book within 20 meters of SCP-4524. The book will open by itself and flip through the pages without any outside influences. Researchers conclude SCP-4524 reads at a rate of 900wpm. When SCP-4524 has reached the end of a book it will start a chemical reaction that sets the book on fire, reducing it to a pile of ash. This fire does not spread. If a book is not placed on SCP-4524’s hands five minutes after the old book was burnt a inky black substance seemingly resembling a hand will grow for SCP-4524’s hands. This substance has the consistency of peanut butter, but any attempts to extract a piece of the substance for study leads to [REDACTED]. ██████ left ███ after the first attempt to extract the substance for study. This hand stretches up to 20 meters. The hand will grow toward the closest history book and will grab it. Once it has grabbed the history book the hand will retract bringing the history book into SCP-4524’s wooden hands for reading. This substance can flow through solid objects through an unknown method.
If SCP-4524 has finished reading a book and there are no books within 20 meters the hand made out of the substance will become hostile, and extremely violent. This hand can stretch farther than 20 meters and the max distance recorded has been █ meters. This hand will seek out any sentient life form and [REDACTED] which will terminate the life form almost instantly. SCP-4524 does not target librarians when he becomes hostile.
