Item #: SCP-5262
Object class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5262 is to be monitored by guards at any location the pipe organ is found, and at any attempt the pipe organ starts to play its music, all the stops must be pushed in, and held for 20 seconds. When the pipe organ decides to dematerialize, the guards are to immediately search for a new possible location for the pipe organ to materialize, and repeat the same procedure. A special crew of foundation personnel known as APOST (Anomalous Pipe Organ Search Team) Are to be constantly searching online news articles and websites around the world for "newly built organs" or pipe organs that have seemed to appear out of nowhere.
Description: SCP-5262 is observed to be 3 manual tracker-pipe organ with an estimated 48 ranks, and 25 stops. The organ pipes range from 2cm to 32 feet in length. The organ is estimated to have been constructed in the mid 1800s, and has the logo of the Estey Organ Company in the middle of the console. However, no serial number exists to indicate the time of construction. The Estey Organ Company produced reed organs and pipe organs since the mid 1800s, hence the estimated date of construction.
SCP-5262's source of air power is unknown, as no blower could be found inside of SCP-5262. SCP-5262 will always be located inside of a building with space for itself inside.
SCP-5262 will at random, play music by itself, with no one at the console. The music produced by the pipe organ can be heard by anyone who is inside/nearby the building SCP-5262 is housed in. Music SCP-5262 produces includes pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, and other well known baroque composers. However, within an estimated 50km radius of SCP-5262, 5 people will be selected by SCP-5262. To this day, it is currently unknown what criteria the people need to satisfy to be selected. If there are more than 5 people within that estimated 50km radius, they will be selected. Those 5 selected people are referred to as SCP-5262-A.
Instances of SCP-5262-A will not hear the music produced by SCP-5262 that the other people hear, they will hear something completely different. Instances of SCP-5262-A that have heard the anomalous music produced by SCP-5262 refuse to describe the music they heard, often stating that they "simply can't". After SCP-5262-A leave the building SCP-5262 is housed, the anomalous music can still be heard in the form of auditory hallucinations. 1 out of 5 instances of SCP-5262-A die within a week after listening to the anomalous music produced by SCP-5262, all which have been suicides, with the rest of them traumatized for up to a year.
SCP-5262 will dematerialize and find a new location randomly between every 7 days to 2 months. Once SCP-5262 dematerializes, it will materialize in any part of the world inside a building with space for itself inside. SCP-5262 has been observed to materialize in churches, concert halls, abandoned churches, and even private mansions or aircraft hangers. No foundation personnel know how SCP-5262 selects its destination after dematerializing. If
