Special Containment Procedures: Any and all instances of SCP-IDEA is to be kept in an electronically locked room. The walls of this room should be 3 meters thick, with interspersing layers of concrete and titanium. At least 6 security staff should be assigned to guarding this room at any given time. The password for the lock should be divided up, with each part given separately to 6 different researchers. They cannot know who the others are. No one but O5 command is allowed to know who all these individuals are.

Description: SCP-IDEA-1 is a 1.5cm x 1.5cm x 2cm cube. It appears to be made of charred, petrified wood. SCP-IDEA-1 was brought into containment by Agent Ophelia Evans after a Foundation researcher learned of concerning reports about an archaeological expedition illegally studying tar pits on the largest island in a Pacific island chain. The reports detailed anomalous behaviors from members of the expedition. Radio contact with the expedition had apparently been lost on █/█/██18

Important to note is that the island chain is was inhabited by a previously undisturbed native tribe, which will, in this document, be labeled as SCP-IDEA-A. Any other afflicted persons will also be treated as instances of SCP-IDEA-A, and processed as such.

OPHELIA J. EVANS: Is… this thing on? Does the red light mean it’s on? Yeah… yeah. Okay. Ah, strike that bit from the record. I know how cameras work. Just, ah, it’s 3am. 3:17am, because I guess this is an official log and I need to be… official. This is my first field operation, so, uh, apologies on my unprofessionalism. Or whatever.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure if you’re listening to this, you know what I’m here for…

The camera pans over to the shore of the island, then back to Evans’ face.

OPHELIA J. EVANS: …which is to say, I’m handling scientists. But unlike my previous Foundation work, I’m doing it in the wild this time. Because, for some reason, going to a tropical island filled with hostile natives to look at tar seems like a good idea to these people. I don’t know. Science is a hell of a drug, I guess.

OPHELIA J. EVANS: Day four of official operation ‘find out what in God’s name some stupid university students are doing this time’. Or something like that. Hold on, what is it called?

OPHELIA J. EVANS: Ah, here we are. ‘Operation Tarhide’. I suppose it’s accurate, if nothing else. Anyways, on to my findings! I scouted out the island, and I’ve got a good idea of what I’m dealing with here. I also found a small cove to hide the boat in, so there’s little risk of the natives discovering it.

On the topic of the natives, I’ve also found their village. From what I saw, it was decently large. Anywhere from twenty to thirty huts, with about four people per hut. It’s on the opposite side of the island from the cove, and it’s right on the water. They seem to be mostly a fishing community, with spears and nets and such.

Most interestingly, a lot of these natives wear headbands really low. It nearly covers their eyes. The younger ones don’t, though. A rite of passage, maybe? I don’t know. It’s weird.

I’m yet to locate the tar pits or any sign of the scientists, but I suspect they’re on the southernmost part of the island, as it’s the only segment I haven’t explored yet.

The island chain is ████ kilometers off the coast of [DATA EXPUNGED]. As of ██/██/19, Agent Evans is still recovering in the Site-36 hospital wing. An on-site optometrists’ evaluation states that vision in her left eye is unlikely to return. Evans’ right eye was not located by MTF-RHO-1 during their sweep of the island, nor was there any sign of inhabitation.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-IDEA2-A is to be contained in a 5m x 5m x 5m amalgam alloy containment cell, with 2 cubic meters of liquid mercury inside. The secondary containment area is a pressurized airtight room, with no access to exterior ventilation. All personnel entering SCP-IDEA2-A’s pressurized outer containment cell must be wearing a HAZMAT suit equipped with self-contained oxygen. Any suit leaks are to be reported immediately, and personnel who have experienced a HAZMAT suit leak must subject themselves to decontamination, followed by up to three (3) months of medical isolation before being declared safe. Standard decontamination procedures are to be followed while exiting SCP-IDEA2-A’s pressurized cell as well. The opening of SCP-IDEA2-A’s amalgam alloy cell must be approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote from O-5 command and supervised by MTF-BETA-7.

Description: SCP-IDEA2 is a semi-sentient fungal entity capable of, for lack of any better term, ‘infecting’ both biological and non-biological objects. Any object ‘infected’ by SCP-IDEA2 slowly turn into silk-like strands of the material. Traces of SCP-IDEA2 remain on the object for up to 9 days after all stages of infection have passed, and are still infectious during this period. SCP-IDEA2 at first appears to be a colony of Hericium Erinaceus mushrooms. It starts as a single spore, but over the course of three (3) months grows to full size. Once SCP-IDEA2 reaches full size it begins emitting spores, which then infect more objects.

SCP-IDEA2 shows hive sentience through various means. Spores that land on the ground die quickly through autophagia, while spores that land on higher-up objects like large stones or trees begin growing new colonies.

SCP-IDEA2-A is the a large specimen of fungus from the species Hericium Erinaceus that is attached to the corpse of a 25-year-old Croatian-American man identified as Dmitry Alexander.

Patient zero was on a hiking trip in Lassen Volcanic National Park when symptoms first appeared. Security camera footage shows that patient zero was free of symptoms when entering the park.

Patient zero was found collapsed and unconscious near a trail by a park ranger, and was quickly brought to a nearby hospital.
