SCP-XXXX

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be monitored via remote drones flying at an altitude of 10 kilometers with their controllers stationed in Site-XX. A fenced off flight restricted zone of 20 square kilometers is to be maintained around Site-XX and SCP-XXXX with the outward explanation of Site-xx being a military airfield. Any individuals caught trespassing are to be given Class-A amnestics and then escorted to the closest publicly available hospital under the excuse of heatstroke.

SCP-XXXX is to be maintained via SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-1 instances. Once a week, SCP-XXXX-2 instances are to be given the tools and materials to care for and maintain SCP-XXXX's primary structure and the surrounding area. SCP-XXXX-1 are to be present with SCP-XXXX-2 instances in the event an SCP-XXXX-3 manifestation. Any deviations from standard phenomena within the pyramid are to be taken note of by all SCP-XXXX-2 instances present and reported to Site-xx security.

SCP-XXXX-1 instances are to be kept in standard containment chambers and do not require any food or water to stay alive. If an SCP-XXXX-1 instance turns inert, it is to be considered neutralized. SCP-XXXX-2 instances are to be stationed within standard humanoid containment cells inside Site-XX and undergo heightened psychological screening and healthcare checks twice a month by an avian biologist.

If an SCP-XXXX-3 manifestation occurs without the presence of a SCP-XXXX-1 instance to neutralize it, Site-XX is to undergo standard lockdown protocol with the local detachment of Mobile Task Force (MTF) Ω-91 ("Iconoclasts") alerted in order to neutralize the affected SCP-XXXX-2 instance.

Under no circumstance should any item from the Roman kingdom, Roman republic or Roman empire (including the Byzantine and Western empire) come into 50 meters of an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 or SCP-XXXX-1. Latin (printed or spoken) is to be restricted around or in Site-xx as well as SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a burial complex located 282 kilometers west of modern-day Cairo that is 455 meters long by 357 meters wide. The complex is comprised of a central stepped pyramid with tunnels leading down into a central underground network of chambers and tunnels, with most chambers containing various different coffins & sarcophagi.

The primary anomalous effect of SCP-XXXX is a radius measuring 2 kilometers in diameter which grows by 1 meter/hour. Any man-made structures or objects within this radius break down into their base materials, the more complex the item, the longer it takes to deconstruct. There is currently no known way to counteract this effect, as such SCP-XXXX must be contained using its sub-anomalies designated SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2

Once fully broken down, the materials are absorbed into SCP-XXXX's superstructure. These materials will then be autonomously assembled into chambers & tunnels as well as surface-level buildings, these buildings are diverse in application, with utility facilities having already been built by the time the Foundation enacted containment procedures. Other structures which have been created since Foundation discovery include:

1. 800 meters of sandstone pathway
2. a complete network of aqueducts
3. small plots of farmland which have been found growing grain
4. basic homes, complete with furniture and tools common during the Ptolemaic dynasty.

While such structures have shown a high grade of care and craftsmanship in their production, they will begin to degrade as soon as they are complete, with the location of SCP-XXXX being based near the coastline, this requires constant maintenance to be performed on the buildings in order to avoid an SCP-XXXX-3 manifestation (see below.)

Through remote explorations utilizing SCP-XXXX-2, it has been discovered that the burial chambers both in the underground complex as well as the above-ground pyramid are populated with the bodies of various different humanoids, the majority of which match the physical descriptions of deities from traditional Egyptian mythology with the cause of death being the same throughout: A puncture wound through the heart extending from the front of the chest to the upper back, with wound channels matching a pike or spear.

Additional exploration shows coffins which contain the bodies of young human males that have undergone a separate mummification process wherein the organs are not removed. These corpses are remarkably well preserved despite their age, and show little signs of decay.

The remains still exhibit fluctuations in hume levels (35-42/238-245) which makes maintenance of the surrounding area difficult. However there have been far higher readings (84-91/266-273) within proximity of the above-ground pyramid, making any forays into the pyramid itself impossible.

SCP-XXXX-1 are large sub-instances of SCP-XXXX sharing physiology with a species of arthropods known as Sacred scarab beetles, SCP-XXXX-1 instances are 1.9 meters long and 0.6 meters tall with behavior and intelligence like that of a common dog and have not exhibited hostile behavior. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are created through long-term exposure of SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects to humans, with subjects standing inside the radius hearing the whispers of many different men & woman, all with Egyptian accents. These hallucinations slowly grow in strength both the longer an individual remains within the radius and the closer they get to SCP-XXXX's location, while the "point of no return" varies due to these factors, subjects have been lost to the anomaly as fast as 43 minutes.

[Sounds of the door opening, chairs shuffling heard before papers shuffling.]

Dr.Lochlyn: So, would you like to begin?

Fletcher: What do you want to know?

Dr.Lochlyn: Lets go from the bottom up, what was your squad like before the mission?

Fletcher: Well it was me and 4 other people, Orange has its fireteams rotating members constantly so I didn't know the people in the squad anymore than I knew the people I walk by on the street. All we were given was callsigns, I was designated Fletcher, our TL was Hydra, and then two other guys by the sign of Heller and…What was his name…

[Fletcher is heard going silent before smacking the table.]

Fletcher: Reigns, that was it. Didn't talk at all on our way to the buffer zone so we didn't care much for one-another's life stories. When we arrived at the LZ it was about sundown.

Dr.Lochlyn: Debrief puts your initial infiltration at 5:50 PM local time, yes?

Fletcher: Yeah, the few details we had were that people were going missing and that a pyramid had just up and sprung out of the dirt, with those who went missing walking into the place but not coming out. Our primary objective was to make it to the central pyramid, record evidence of whatever we saw, and get the hell out of Dodge. Secondary was finding out what happened to all those missing persons and see if we could get some closure for a bunch of families out in Cairo.

Dr.Lochlyn: According to the report things went wrong before you even stepped inside of the boundaries of the complex.

[Fletcher sighs.]

Fletcher: We were 4 kilometers out when the MRAP we were using broke down, tires just peeled away from the wheel, so we get out and post up, each of us on a corner while the driver tried to radio command and got nothing. Just the same feedback you here on the reel to reels the Foundation uses. We were debating whether or not to just call an abort and head back when I began hallucinating.

[Fletcher pauses for 3 seconds as Lochlyn is heard turning through papers.]

Dr.Lochlyn: Debriefing states you started hearing the voices of people at this point P.M local time, is this correct?

Fletcher: Yes, it was indecipherable at first and was what amounted to gibberish before clearing up around…I'd say 10 minutes after first hearing it?

Dr.Lochlyn: So it was a constant noise? Did you or your fire team members check the area around you?

Fletcher: Yeah, we were sitting in what amounts to a big salt flat, so the only two places they could hide were either inside the MRAP or under it and we saw nothing.

Dr.Lochlyn: Can you tell me what you heard?

Fletcher: I…Listen, I've given you plenty and I really don't like thinking back to what I heard, especially considering what happened after.

Dr.Lochlyn: I understand your discomfort, however the debriefing never gave details on what you and your team exactly heard. If need be-[The sound of paper sliding across the table is heard.]- You can write it instead of speaking. All I need is what the hallucinations were and then you can leave.

Closing Statement: All other surviving members of the MTF Ω-Orange fireteam reported similar hallucinations as Fletcher did during their interviews. Further research into these hallucinations is currently pending.

While I can remember what I heard, the others were cagey about what they hallucinated. Can't say I blame them if its the same as to what I heard or worse.

As I said; first ten minutes we heard gibberish, the list below is what I heard once it became clearer. It sounded different each time.

Once the individual has been subjected to full exposure, they begin to feel physically exhausted and disoriented before attempting to seek out a cool (<21c,) dry (<28% humidity) place, once such a place is found the subject will undress until completely nude, curl into the fetal position, and go unconscious.

At this point the subject will undergo a biological recombination event, decaying into an amorphous biomass that transform into an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 over the course of 10 hours. When investigated, it was found that while all other bones were liquefied, the rib-cage remained whole, serving as the base structure for SCP-XXXX-1's abdomen with keratin from nails and hair forming the spines on the legs and head. X-Ray imaging shows a total transformation of internal organs to match that of Sacred scarab beetles as well, however there is no digestive system present, this does not bother any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and means they do not require any form of sustenance for survival.

Further observation has shown that SCP-XXXX-1 instances are capable of reversing the constant growth of SCP-XXXX's area of effect through unknown means. With SCP-XXXX-1 instances able to shrink the radius as much as 20 meters in 6 hours, the effects of doing so cause SCP-XXXX-1's physiology to turn into glazed steatite, rendering it dead as well as anomalously inert.

SCP-XXXX-2 is a species of avian humanoid bipeds that exhibit human-level intelligence, showing an ability to learn, speak, draw, and write. Each instance of SCP-XXXX matches one of six species of birds of prey in physiology and coloration, listed below.

1. Egyptian vulture
2. Peregrine falcon
3. Pharaoh eagle-owl
4. Goliath heron
5. African sacred ibis
6. █████-██████ █████

Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are created through a process similar to SCP-XXXX-1, wherein any birds matching the above set of species within a 10 kilometer radius are attracted to SCP-XXXX's pyramid structure. These subjects do not exhibit hostility towards one another, even when their are multiple different species present.

Once a certain amount of individuals are present (differing in number from 15-28) a group with members from each species will enter through the top of SCP-XXXX's pyramid structure and disappear from view with either a single or two instances of SCP-XXXX-2 appearing 21 hours later. These "newborn" instances have shown extensive training in archery, swordplay, and survival, with certain instances showing tactical expertise and the ability to effectively command other instances of SCP-XXXX-2 in groups of 10-15. All instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are able to fluently speak, read, and write the Egyptian and Greek (dialects unknown) languages.

Each instance of SCP-XXXX-2 are able to accurately recite the history of Egypt and the conflicts with its surrounding neighbors from 2686 B.C (the starting year of the Old Kingdom period,) to 30 B.C, the end of the Ptolemaic Kingdom. SCP-XXXX-2 instances also exhibit an astounding level of knowledge in regards to Egyptian folklore and religion, reciting a single coherent narrative from the creation myth of the world, to the dissolution of the world at the end of the universe and the universes subsequent rebirth. This goes against how the Egyptians themselves crafted their theological beliefs, utilizing vague ideas or themes vs. the exact explanation given by SCP-XXXX-2.

Foreword: The following interview was done under short notice at the request of SCP-XXXX-2-M shortly after it woke up. The instance was showing signs of distress up until the interview and gave only vague reasoning as to why it wanted to speak to Director Monte.

Begin Log, 11:51 A.M

Monte: So, what is the reason why you requested an interview with me?

SCP-XXXX-2-M: I wish to confess to you the nature of my more recent dreams.

Monte: And what do these dreams contain?

SCP-XXXX-2-M: They begin simply, I wake up in Site-XX in my chamber, get up, and begin exercises. Once that is over with, I have my first meal and am sent out alongside others of my kind in order to clean and repair the Nekropolis.

Monte: Do you notice anything different as the dream goes on?

[SCP-XXXX-2-M bows its head in a positive gesture.]

SCP-XXXX-2-M: Yes, after some time the sun would…Stop, just sit still in the center of the sky, we would never be called back to our chambers, we would not even be signaled by your soldiers.

Monte: Does anything else occur?

SCP-XXXX-2-M: When I would walk into the underground chambers where the bodies are? They would be gone, the foulness in the air would not be there.

Monte: Do you know of where they went?

SCP-XXXX-2-M: I do.

At this point SCP-XXXX-2-M became quieter, any attempts I made to encourage it to speak more wouldn't work, so I had to take the conversation at a slower pace from hereon-out.

Monte: Please, M. I need to know what you saw, this could be a sign of things to come.

SCP-XXXX-2-M: …Amen, please, call me Amen and I will tell you.

Monte: Alright then, Amen.

[SCP-XXXX-2-M, hereafter designated as 'Amen,' sighs and straightens its posture at this point.]

Amen: With me would be two others of my kind, the further we went, the closer we got to the pyramid. We could feel its influence surrounding us- within us, like it was groping around in our brains, reading us like a stone tablet.

Monte: Did you feel like it was hostile?

Amen: I felt uneasy, as if I was being judged. I am sure you know that feeling yourself, it was like I was being looked down upon by a teacher after falling in the mud and only got worse.

Monte: Were you able to reach the interior of the pyramid?

Amen: Yes, once we passed through the antechamber we walked into a throne room.

Monte: Was there anyone in the throne room or-

Amen: There was a woman, and I knew what she was. Our…Mother.

Closing Statement: Following the interview, SCP-XXXX-2-M was sent out to maintain SCP-XXXX. There was an increase in hume levels across the entirety of Site-XX for the next 7 1/2 hours which lead to tightened security for the remainder of the day. Shortly thereafter, this log was discovered to have been tampered with. It has been left as-is.

SCP-XXXX-3 is a female humanoid that exhibits influence over SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 instances. SCP-XXXX-3 is wrapped in decayed fabric and bandages typically used in the mummification process, with no exposed areas of skin making it impossible to tell the age, heritage, or nationality of the humanoid.

SCP-XXXX-3 manifestations occur when the overall integrity of SCP-XXXX's structures falls below 70% or when someone of major Roman descent is present. SCP-XXXX-3 has proven extremely resistant to all forms of small arms fire and requires extensive sustained fire to be used against it. With maximum precaution being taken against SCP-XXXX-3 in order to prevent unneeded casualties due to its combat capability.

SCP-XXXX-3 manifests from an unknown chamber of the above-ground pyramid present at the center of XXXX's central area and will immediately seek out an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 before possessing it. Supplanting its will and using the SCP-XXXX-2 instance to focus its power. These -2 instances (hereafter designated as SCP-XXXX-4) have shown the same extreme resilience as SCP-XXXX-3, and have been seen breaking the sound barrier. Other abilities include:

• Calling down directed plasma strikes from the sun
• Absorb any form of incendiary or thermobaric weaponry
• Summon a curved sword made of molten bronze which is wreathed in fire
• Generate geysers of molten iron which erupts from beneath SCP-XXXX-4's target
• Superheat the air in the shape of a spear, then hurling a lance-shaped plasma projectile at supersonic speeds.

SCP-XXXX-4 instances will die due to the effects of the possession on their body either during or in the aftermath of SCP-XXXX-3 manifestation events within 30 minutes.

Specific instances of SCP-XXXX-2 instances have given themselves names matching that of Egyptian military commanders and generals, testing with these instances has shown abnormally high tactical intelligence and reflexes making them on-par with on-site MTF commanders.

On June 20th, 2023. An SCP-XXXX-3 manifestation occurred as expected, however a containment breach followed shortly thereafter due to manifestations of unknown phenomena linked to SCP-XXXX. over 30% of Site-XX's security forces were KIA with 20% MIA.
