Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a sealed safe-object locker wrapped in sterilized cloth of a coarse weave. The SCP-XXXX locker is to be kept cool, dry, and shaded during storage in order to prevent rot.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an extremely large arachnid superficially resembling genus Nephilia¹. Comparative genomics suggest that SCP-XXXX belongs to family Salticidae, subfamily Lyssomaninae. This is corroborated by certain anatomical features peculiar to the salticids². Unlike mundane salticid spiders, SCP-XXXX weighs ~80 kilograms³ and is 1.2 meters in length.

SCP-XXXX displays a number of unique anatomical features which (presumably) compensate for its gargantuan size.
1) Its fourth (hindmost) pair of legs are significantly larger than each other. They are turned forward underneath its body and do not touch the ground during normal movement.⁴

4. During initial capture and containment SCP-XXXX would turn its second pair of legs into a similar position and raise its first and third pairs off of the ground. It would then transition into a quadrupedal saltatorial gate, propelled by its modified fourth pair of legs while the caught it following each leap. This behavior has not been observed in SCP-XXXX's subsequent six years of containment.
