SCP-XXXX
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 3m x 3m x 3m room sealed by a heavy vault door. No fewer than two (2) guards are to be present outside of the vault at all times. SCP-XXXX is to be placed inside of a metal pan no smaller than 1m x 1m and covered in a layer of quick-dry cement.
SCP-XXXX is then placed on a pedestal in the center of the room and slowly lowered into the ground, and covered by a sheet of steel. SCP-XXXX should not be raised from the floor unless granted by 05-██████ personnel. Three (3) O5-█████ personnel should be present in order to open containment
Description: SCP-XXXX is a leather-bound book 6 inches in length and 9 inches in width. The cover of the book is blank, showing only a black shade. The back of the book contains the same shade, but with etched writing, which reads Massacre with etched, unreadable writing afterward. The number of pages contained within SCP-XXXX is unknown. See experiment log XXXX-A for details.
Whenever an individual approaches SCP-XXXX (whether it be willingly, or by accident) the book opens and flashes a colorful image to draw the subjects attention. Any individual who looks at the book shall henceforth be referred to as SCP-XXXX-A, and SCP-XXXX-B respectively. Upon glancing at the book, the subject appears to quickly gravitate towards it and read everything on its pages out loud. Things read from SCP-XXXX tend to be dramatic, and create stories based on whoever is reading them. However, most stories end prematurely, with a strange twist. All those who have interacted with SCP-XXXX have died due to its effects. Holding the book closed using minimal force seems to cause the effects temporarily cease, only to be continued (By the individual that opens it) later on.
Experiment Log: All experiments approved beforehand by 05-███
Involved personnel: D- ██████ and Dr. ██████████
Procedure Two (2) cameras are placed in the vault beforehand and start recording before subject enters the vault. All footage is to be viewed after testing has completed. Subject enters the vault containing SCP-XXXX and instructed to look at the book on the pedestal in the center of the room. Upon looking, SCP-XXXX will open, and they will begin reading the book.
Foreword: Subject enters the containment chamber and SCP-XXXX instantly opens its pages and displays what appears to be a colorful unicorn on its pages, seemingly emitting fluorescent light. Subject instantly turns head to view the book and begins walking towards it. Upon reaching the book, SCP-XXXX-A begins to read the words inside. The following is recorded from said incident.
SCP-XXXX-A: Oh how wonderful it would be, sitting in the sunlight again…
Effect: Subject appears to be slightly glowing, similarly to how the book was prior.
SCP-XXXX-A: I can't escape this feeling, that there's something inside of me that shouldn't be there…
Effect: SCP-XXXX-A's appendix swiftly bursts from their chest, SCP-XXXX-A seems undisturbed and continues reading the book
SCP-XXXX-A: It cuts deep, knowing you cant fit in; but it's okay, nobody really wants to
Effect: SCP-XXXX-A's wrists start bleeding from 3 horizontal cuts on each wrist, about 2 inches long.
SCP-XXXX-A: I'm losing my head thinking about it, what about this, what about that, where am I going? I can't see where I'm going!
Effect: SCP-XXXX-A's head rolls off of his shoulders, it appears as if his neck simply vanished. Soon after, his eyes fell off too.
Closing statement: It appears SCP-XXXX prefers dramatic readings and makes the subject suffer before killing them. Further testing needed before any conclusions can be made.
Experiment XXXX-B
Involved Personel: Dr. ███████, D-███████ and D-███████
Procedure: Both subjects both enter containment at the same time and observe SCP-XXXX. They both approach the pedestal the book is laying on and begin reading the pages.
Additional Information It should be noted that D-███████ is male and D-███████ is female
SCP-XXXX-A: My love my love, for I have not known you long!
Effect: Nothing observed as of yet
SCP-XXXX-B: I know we have not, but my heart beats for you as if I have!
Effect: SCP-XXXX-B's heart appears to actually be beating out of their chest. Regular thumps can be heard from personnel observing the event, and SCP-XXXX-B's chest appears to be expanding and retracting erratically.
SCP-XXXX-A: It cannot be, no. We have not known each other, my brain tells me to stop, but my heart tells me to continue!
Effect: SCP-XXXX-A's head begins to shrink to approximately the size of a human heart, while his chest expands to the size of a human brain. It can be reasonably assumed that their heart and brain have swapped places. However, SCP-XXXX-A seems undisturbed.
SCP-XXXX-B: It must be fate, it must be! Oh, hold me close and let us live together forever!
Effect: It appears as if SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B have swapped arms. Both now contain each other's arms, rather than their own. However, both remain undisturbed and fixated on the book.
SCP-XXXX-A: My heart yearns for the touch of yours, I need you in my life ██████.
Effect: SCP-XXXX-A's heart and SCP-XXXX-B's heart explode out from their chest, and head, respectively, and make contact between the two. Both subjects fall to the floor, presumably dead, while their hearts float ominously at approximately the same height SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B were standing.
Closing Statement: It appears as if the book writes stories based on who is reading them, rather than pre-written stories. D-███████ and D-███████ had a love life outside of containment we had not previously known about. Further study recommended.
Further experiments pending, but not yet approved by 05-████.
Addendum: Further study on SCP-XXXX dispatched for fear of misuse and severe containment breach. It is unknown if SCP-XXXX can affect the area around it, and have deemed it unsafe to risk a story similar to 'fallout' being read.
