Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5892-1 samples have been deemed Class Z extreme biological hazards, and all related protocols apply. Incineration and irradiation measures will be deployed in the event of political or military action which may result in the facility being dismantled; a power failure; or zero communications from operatives or outside channels during any given six hour period. The quarantine period for operatives leaving the facility is eight months. If a breach has occurred, incineration and irradiation measures shall be deployed.
SCP-5892-2 instances are to be locked in a 0.4 m x 0.4 m x 0.4 m steel cube and monitored with heat tracking and surveillance footage. Containment must be checked weekly for any signs of rusting or degrading properties.
Description: SCP-5892-1 is a lethal virus. SCP-5892-2 appears to be a horde of white mice infected with SCP-5892-1. Research into SCP-5892 as a whole is highly classified.
Traits of the SCP-5892-1 virus include:
83% infectiousness.
100% lethality.
Transmission through most physical touch and all bodily fluids.
Airborne but not waterborne.
Symptoms of infection with SCP-5892 manifest immediately, and include:
Partial blindness and numbing in the limbs.
Loss of consciousness approximately 72 hours after first symptoms appear. Loss of consciousness will be considered onset of death.
Red blood cells greatly increase oxygen storage capacity, resulting in slower blood flow and increased muscle endurance and strength.
Metabolism rises due to intense spikes in stimuli allowing subject to preform physical activities with ease.
Subjects upon the showing first symptoms will become extremely hostile.
High blood viscosity results in negligible blood flow from gunshot, puncture, and slashing injuries.
Conditioned behavior, motor controls, and instinctive behavioral mechanisms are increased, however cognitive abilities seem to dissipate. Animals experience excessive brain necrosis and are inactive.
Subject can adapt to its damaged nervous systems.
Subject will aggressively charge towards sights, sounds, and smells it associates with living humans. Subject will attempt to terminate any living thing in eyesight.
Neutralizing fully-infected subjects requires significant cranial trauma.
Morphing will take place approximately 6 hours after first symptoms appear. Morphing consists of absence of the retinas, arms growing grossly out of proportion, fingers taking claw qualities, and skin decay.
There is strong evidence to suggest SCP-5892 itself did indeed form naturally on Earth, since variants of similar complexity have silently displaced much of the rainforest ecosystem.
All instances of SCP-5892-2, despite being infected with SCP-5892-1, do not appear to be affected by its symptoms and will actively try to pursue any living objects with the intent of spreading SCP-5892-1. The horde of mice show extreme intellect and seem to be able to cooperate without physical contact or gesturing. SCP-5892-2 instances are immune to any form of puncture wounding and must be incinerated.
