Special Containment Procedures: A perimeter fence is to be maintained around SCP-XXXX. Armed guards are to patrol the perimeter 24 hours a day. SCP-XXXX is not allowed to expand outside of its 1.5 square kilometer area. Outside of testing, no instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are allowed in or around the containment area. In the event that SCP-XXXX-2 begins a transformation into SCP-XXXX-1, agents are to be dispatched to terminate the instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a forest with an area of 1.5 square kilometers located in northern Japan. All the trees (SCP-XXXX-1) in SCP-XXXX appear to be made of human bones, with the trunks being femur-like bones splitting off into branches of humeri, radii and ulnar bones and eventually resulting in a variety of pharyngeal "fingers". The bones are slightly larger than the human equivalent of the same type. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are an average of 4 meters in height and grow at around the same pace as a healthy human infant. The bones themselves are genetically identical to the average human bone, including the bone marrow inside which acts as tree sap would in a normal tree.
When a living creature makes contact with an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, the subject (SCP-XXXX-2) will begin to show rapid symptoms of Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. The transformations begin within 1.5 and 5 minutes. No sooner than 20 minutes after contact with SCP-XXXX-1, 10% of all muscle tissue is converted to bone. The instance of SCP-XXXX-2 is compelled to move to a location just outside SCP-XXXX and begin digging a hole in the soil large enough to fit themselves. All instances of SCP-XXXX-2 have "planted themselves" within 1 hr after contact with SCP-XXXX-1 in the hole created. At this point, 90% of all muscle tissue has been converted to bone and minimal movement in the subject is noted. 48 hours after contact with SCP-XXXX-1, the instance of SCP-XXXX-2 sprouts as a new instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
Addendum XXXX-1: Analysis of the soil of which instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are planted shows that all active instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are connected via what appears to be "bone roots" The roots themselves are bones from a variety of finger bones (pharyngeal). These roots extend out to new instances of SCP-XXXX-1 after they are planted. Along the roots seem to tunnel extending downward beneath the forest. Exploration of these tunnels have been approved.
