Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4983 is to be kept High Value Storage locker 42D at Site-██. Access is restricted to personnel with Level 4 security clearance. All personnel handling SCP-4983 must wear synthetic gloves except during testing. Personnel wishing to conduct tests involving SCP-4983 must submit a proposal to Site Command which must specify the subject interacting with SCP-4983, desired destination, and purpose of the test. Testing while SCP-4893 is displaying a view of Earth in the past is expressly prohibited without authorization from the 0-5 council.
Description: SCP-4983 is a desk globe of Earth with a diameter of 11.43cm and is suspended by unknown means 1cm above a round hollow metal base. The globe is unable to be removed from its position above the base. The globe is made of an unbreakable non-crystalline material that changes its appearance reflecting the past and current state of Earth including geography and political borders. SCP-4983 is unable to display what Earth may look like in the future.
When SCP-4893 is spun counter-clockwise its surface will change to represent Earth in the past at a rate of 1 year per revolution; spinning SCP-4983 clockwise will change its surface to reflect Earth up to present day at a rate of 1 year per revolution. When idle SCP-4983 will continuously spin clockwise matching the rate of Earth's rotation.
If a subject makes direct contact with SCP-4893 they will be transported to the area on Earth that corresponds with the area touched on SCP-4893 at the point in time currently represented by SCP-4893. Subjects transported by SCP-4983 will appear approximately 25cm above the surface below them. No physical abnormalities have been observed after transportation.
