Description:
SCP- is an albino plant that produces a single purple-colored fruit similar in shape as a chili pepper. The fruit itself contains exactly 2 seeds of SCP- when harvested at maturation. The fruit has been described by subjects to be tasteless.
Whatever environment SCP- is grown in, it will reach maturity 2 weeks after germination. Maturation is indicated when SCP- is approximately 1 meter in height and the fruit has formed dark purple streaks on its skin. SCP- cannot be stored for longer than two days.
SCP- is unusually hardy and can be grown in a variety of mediums, provided sufficient water, and sunlight is supplied to its seeds. The duration of the effects of SCP-, however, will vary based on the conditions the plant is grown in. What is commonly considered to be “good” conditions for plant growth such as direct sunlight and sufficient water will result in a longer duration in the effects of SCP-, while “poor” conditions will result in a much shorter duration of SCP-’s effects.
When consumed, the fruit of SCP- induces loyalty in whoever consumed it to a certain organization, based on the location it is grown in. For instance, plants grown within territory owned by the Foundation will induce complete loyalty to the Foundation until SCP-’s effects wear off.
SCP- causes subjects to dismiss past beliefs and loyalties and implants new beliefs and feelings towards the organization SCP- was grown in. Subjects do not gain any new knowledge about the organization that SCP- is forcing their loyalty to.
Once the effects of SCP- wear off, the subject returns to their mental state prior to consuming the SCP-’s fruit, and will retain any emotions felt and all actions performed while under the effects of SCP-. This has resulted in subjects experiencing mood swings and occasionally developing emotional trauma.
Recovery Log:
An archaeology research team first discovered a leather bag containing unidentified seeds while digging in a remote part of █████ ███████. When no one in the team could identify the seeds, the bag containing the seeds was handed over to the field lab accompanying the team.
The seeds were analyzed in a field lab and were reported to not match the structure of any type of seed on record and grew far more quickly than most plants. After the results of analysis done on the seeds came to the Foundation’s attention, the decision was made to recover the seeds, designated SCP-, before further research could be done with them.
Agent ███, who was close to the location of the archaeology team, was ordered to recover the seeds. To accomplish this, Agent ███ was directed to accompany the archaeology team undercover until the opportune moment where the seeds could be recovered and handed over to Foundation personnel.
Level 4 Security Clearance Required
2 weeks after the recovery of the seeds, Agent Lea sent the following encoded message to her handler, Senior Agent Tyler:
Being tailed. Multiple pursuers, are not local. Drop left at coordinates attached. Cutting communication until pursuers gone.
The seeds were swiftly recovered from the Chinese medicinal herb shop that they had been stored at by a nearby field agent.
No sign of the pursuers mentioned by Agent Lea were seen at the time.
All samples of SCP- being grown were destroyed before they reached maturation and all of its seeds were successfully recovered from the field and entered testing at Site-██.
Initial testing quickly confirmed some of SCP-’s anomalous properties, including its rapid growth. SCP-’s most notable anomalous property was discovered when its fruit was fed to D-Class personnel. These tests revealed that consuming the fruit of SCP- caused intense loyalty to the Foundation in whoever consumed the fruit.
Subsequent tests were administered to select Foundation Personnel already loyal to the Foundation and its goals to determine if the effects of SCP- affected loyalty already present in subjects. Results were inconclusive.
Addendum -01:
After incident L—017, all subjects that are to be exposed to SCP-’s anomalous properties are to undergo a standard psychological test to ensure that they are mentally stable enough to withstand the effects of SCP- without developing mental trauma after exposure to SCP- wears off. Any testing procedures intended to cause mental trauma using SCP-’s effects will be rejected.
Incident Report L—017
Before a test involving feeding a D-28542 a sample of SCP-, a security guard inadvertently revealed to the D-Class the effects of SCP-. The D-Class proceeded to show a strong aversion to consuming SCP-, and was force-fed the sample. The test proceeded as normal, with no unusual effects being observed.
Upon the conclusion of the test, D-28542 developed a variation of bipolar disorder. Instead of experiencing the severe mood swings typical of bipolar disorder, D-28542 experienced severe swings in his beliefs, ranging from extreme support to extreme opposition to the Foundation’s goals. Psychological analysis determined that D-28542 was incapable of reconciling his beliefs under the influence of SCP- with his beliefs immediately prior to the test, causing his oscillating beliefs about the Foundation.
D-28542 has been placed in a mental ward for long-term observation. As of ██ weeks after the test, he has shown no signs of increasing mental stability.
Addendum -02:
Dr. ███████ requested to experiment with five(5) seeds of SCP- in order to attempt to find an antidote to the effects of SCP-. As an antidote would be a simple and useful means of containing SCP- if necessary, permission was granted.
After 2 months of experimentation with no successful results, Dr. ███████ became frustrated and requested permission to use SCP-124 in order to speed up the rate of growth of SCP-, so that tests on SCP- could be performed more quickly. Permission was granted, and approximately 0.5 kilograms of SCP-124 were allocated to Dr. ███████ for growth of SCP-.
Upon planting in SCP-124, the growth rate of SCP-, as expected, increased exponentially. However, SCP- produced a white fruit instead of a purple fruit when it matured.
Initial testing showed that the fruit seemed to simply calm the subjects that it was fed to. However, when the fruit was fed to D-28374, who was under the effects of a standard sample of SCP-, all effects of SCP- appeared to stop.
After further testing, Dr. ███████ concluded that when grown in SCP-124, SCP- produces a fruit that neutralizes its own effects.
Addendum -03:
Following incident I—08-ME9, it was discovered that the loyalty effect caused by SCP- is not exclusive to the Foundation, but is controlled by the source of the soil SCP- is grown in. In light of this information, SCP- has been upgraded to Level 3 security and its description has been updated.
Level 4 Security Clearance Required
Incident Report I—08-ME9
On ██/██/████ Agent Lea, returned to Site-██ to report back in after going dark for 4 months after her recovery of SCP-. As no communications had been received since the recovery of her final message prior to going dark, appropriate security measures were taken in order to verify the identity of the agent. The agent answered all questions with appropriate responses and gave all the correct identification codes when asked for them.
However, Agent Thompson, who administered the questions and knew Agent Lea from past field assignments, observed that Agent Lea was almost overeager to answer any questions and had slight oddities in her behavior such as fidgeting and “forced cheerfulness”.
He requested permission to investigate Agent Lea on suspicion that she had been compromised. Permission was granted, and Agent Thompson began to investigate the suspect, occasionally interacting with her and observing her interactions with other Foundation personnel. In his reports, sent to Senior Agent Tyler, Agent Lea’s handler, Agent Thompson noted that Agent Lea often seemed to be uncomfortable when she was questioned about anything even remotely personal, and often listened in on conversations of Foundation personnel.
No other significant changes in behavior were observed until 4 days after Agent Lea returned to Site-██. At the time, Agent Lea attempted to request a field assignment that would cause her to leave Site-██. However, she had been granted a short sabbatical so that she could recover from her assignment onsite. The sabbatical also acted to keep Agent Lea onsite to facilitate Agent Thompson’s investigation.
It has been observed by senior staff that a sabbatical is generally considered to be highly desirable by most field agents and Foundation personnel in general, so Agent Lea’s attempt to cut her sabbatical short was viewed as suspicious by Senior Agent Tyler.
Upon being informed by Senior Agent Tyler that there were no field assignments currently available that would take her offsite, Agent Lea grew agitated and began to insist upon leaving the site. A partial audio log is transcribed below:
Agent Lea: What do you mean, there’s nothing to do? There’s always something to do!
Senior Agent Tyler: It means, Field Agent, that there are no current missions available that fit your requirements of… “something that takes me off-site”. There is still plenty to do around Site-██, as I have already told you.
Agent Lea: Look, can’t we just work something out? I really need a breath of fresh air, and there’s not a lot of that around here.
Senior Agent Tyler: What? Fresh air? You? I assigned you that mission in South America, and you complained the entire way out the door! What, did you have a change of heart?
Agent Lea: Um… well, I guess it appealed to me. I’d like another assignment like that, actually.
Note: At this point in the conversation, Senior Agent Tyler reported that he was aware that Agent Lea was simply looking for an excuse to leave base, and he elected to continue the conversation and signal for security to arrest Agent Lea using a silent panic button.
Senior Agent Tyler: Still you, of all field agents? No one really believed you at first when you took an assignment in one of the most humid places we had assignments available in, until I told them it was a dare.
Agent Lea: Yeah, I know, right? Um… so-
Senior Agent Tyler: There was even that one time I offered you an assignment in the carribean that was basically just going to be you staying in a fancy hotel and spying on a VIP! And you said it was too hot there and refused!
Agent Lea: Uh… oh, I remember that! I’ve had a change of heart, though, so if you could-
Senior Agent Tyler: So, why do you want another mission out there so soon? I thought you would be happy staying here at base for a while.
Agent Lea: Well… yeah, I guess staying here until my vacation is over would be nice. Relax and all that, right? I’ll just go now-
Senior Agent Tyler: You, in the hallway! Get in here and arrest her!
Agent Lea: Wha-
The conversation ended when security guards arrived at Senior Agent Tyler’s office. After he spotted the security, Senior Agent Tyler ordered them to detain Agent Lea. Agent Lea put up a fight, but was subdued and knocked unconscious.
Agent Lea was relocated to a medical ward and, when she regained consciousness, moved to a secure interrogation room. Her mood and personality drastically changed, becoming stubborn and uncompromising, and she refused to speak to interrogators.
Eventually, it was suggested that SCP- be used to interrogate Agent Lea. In the event that Agent Lea’s attitude was a result of brainwashing or a memetic agent, the loyalty effect caused by SCP- would likely revert Agent Lea to a prior state when she was loyal to the Foundation, making the risk of mental trauma minimal. The procedure was approved, and a sample of SCP- was provided by Dr. Brendan.
However, when Dr. Brendan entered the room with a the sample, Agent Lea reacted violently and refused to consume the fruit, despite the fact that Agent Lea had no prior exposure to SCP- while at Site-██.
Dr. Brendan theorized that it was likely that Agent Lea had been exposed to the effects of SCP- through an unknown source, and as a result recognized it. This theory was disputed, as there had been no record of the effects of SCP- lasting for longer than a day, and SCP- had only been observed to cause loyalty to the Foundation.
Dr. Brendan suggested testing his theory anyway despite opposition by feeding Agent Lea the antidote to SCP-. As no harmful effects had been noted after the use of SCP-’s antidote, the test was approved. Agent Lea continued to put up resistance, and was sedated and manually fed the antidote in order to decrease the risk of a repeat of Incident L—017.
Once the antidote was administered, Senior Agent Tyler volunteered to watch over and interrogate Agent Lea after the anesthetic wore off in order to determine if the antidote had been effective. When Agent Lea woke, Senior Agent Tyler initiated a conversation. An audio log of their exchange is included below:
Agent Lea: *Wakes, abruptly sits up*
Senior Agent Tyler: Ah, I see you’ve finally chosen to join us in the lan-
Agent Lea: Where am I?
Senior Agent Tyler: What?
Agent Lea: Where am I? What is this place? Is… is this a hospital gown!? What did you do to me!?
Senior Agent Tyler: Now, calm down. Try to sort through your memories.
Agent Lea: Oh, I remember enough! I remember that you got Thompson to knock me unconscious! And you still haven’t told me what’s happening!
Senior Agent Tyler: Calm down. Now. Do you know who I am?
Agent Lea: Yeah, the guy who-
Senior Agent Tyler: Other than that.
Agent Lea: Fine… um… you seem… familiar… oh.
Senior Agent Tyler: …Well?
Agent Lea: I, I’m sorry, I didn’t really mean that, I… but I did mean that, but before, I… did I…
Senior Agent Tyler: Slow breaths. Try to organize your thoughts. What do you remember now?
Agent Lea: I remember when I was an agent, not… I… I’m sorry, I was sloppy, they kidnapped me and… I… I’m not sure…
Senior Agent Tyler: Did they feed you anything resembling a purple fruit?
Agent Lea: Um, I… I think they did, I… did they? I… I think….
Senior Agent Tyler: Based on your recovery, they did. Can you tell us anything about your kidnappers?
Agent Lea: …I don’t want to, when I try to remember, but then… when I remember before, when I was an agent, I want to tell you… I can’t… I don’t… want…. I don’t want to tell you when I try to remember! I’m sorry!
Senior Agent Tyler: Okay, okay. We’ll work through this later. For now, try to remember your past. Before… Well, just before. Stay put. I need to get Dr. Brendan.
Agent Lea: I… I… okay. I’ll try.
Following recovery, Agent Lea was detained for 5 more days to ensure that there would be no relapse of SCP-, as Dr. Brendan suggested that SCP- had been administered in a form which caused its effects to persist over a longer period of time. Dr. Brendan was ordered to begin research on why SCP- had caused loyalty to an organization other than the Foundation.
During this time, a therapist was assigned to Agent Lea in order to ensure she would not become mentally unstable from her conflicting beliefs and memories after forced exposure to SCP-(Incident Report L—017).
Eventually, when a sample SCP- was tested by being grown in a sample of soil taken from a forest located nearby Site-██, its effects changed. Instead of causing loyalty to the Foundation, the sample of SCP- caused the D-Class who consumed it to become an advocate of environmentalism, which appears to be SCP-’s interpretation of “loyalty to nature”.
Further testing discovered that SCP- does not cause loyalty solely to the Foundation, but rather causes loyalty to whatever “organization” it considers itself as having been grown in. In light of this information, SCP- has been upgraded to Level 3 Security.
Agent Lea eventually made a full recovery, and was able to discuss her experiences when under the effect of SCP-. Further questioning determined that SCP- had been administered to Agent Lea by the Domestic Security Bureau(D.S.B.), an previously unknown intelligence agency based in ███████, a minor province of ██████.
When prompted, Agent Lea revealed that she knew an unusually large amount of information about the agency, even information that appeared to be highly classified.
When questioned why she had been able to learn the information that she provided, Agent Lea stated that the agency was not aware of any current antidote to SCP-’s effects, and believed that many of their personnel were permanently under the effects of SCP-, and would never reveal the agency’s secrets.
As a result, there had been a breakdown of internal security within the D.S.B., allowing Agent Lea to overhear and examine classified intelligence.
Using Agent Lea’s information, several safehouses and outposts manned by the D.S.B. were raided by MTF teams. No samples of SCP- were recovered until the central hub of the agency was raided, where MTF teams managed to recover multiple samples of SCP-. It was discovered that the agency had discovered a way to purify and concentrate SCP- in such a way that when injected directly into the bloodstream its effects would become near-permanent.
All enemy agents and personnel that were encountered appeared to have been exposed to SCP-, and immediately attempted to attack MTF teams or take their own lives, refusing to surrender. They were terminated upon contact. One ranking officer who was not under the effects of SCP- was captured before he could take his own life.
The ranking officer refused to give Foundation personnel any information when interrogated. However, when threatened with forced consumption of SCP-, an idea proposed by Agent Lea, the officer became willing to talk.
Upon further interrogation, the officer did not say anything of note. Instead of answering questions, he continuously insisted that the Foundation had “ruined everything” and that their agency’s intentions for SCP- were only for “the good of the people”.
After it became clear that the officer would not reveal anything of note, it was decided that SCP- would be administered in order to obtain more intelligence.
However, before SCP- could be administered, the officer managed to use the interrogation room’s table to cause himself traumatic brain injury. He died a few hours later, and the body was disposed of.

Field Observation Log I—0A-912
Log 1: 04/06/████
Shortly after the operations of the D.S.B. ceased and all known facilities were dismantled by the Foundation, the general populace of ███████ has begun to protest and riot against sanctions and laws put into effect by their leader, █████ █████████.
Log 2: 04/26/████
Increasing violence has led to nationwide anarchy, and the government is at the point of collapse. It appears that the operations of the D.S.B were critical to the stability of ███████ in some way.
Log 3: 05/12/████
███████’s government has collapsed. Its territory and populace are being quickly and silently annexed by ██████, one of its neighboring nations, with currently unsuccessful resistance from the populace of former ███████.
Log 4: 09/23/████
As of this log, there are no signs that ██████ has learned about the existence of SCP- or has any intention of attempting to recover intelligence from the D.S.B.’s old facilities. Attempts at uprising have been suppressed with force, so it is unlikely that ███████ will ever reform. Any further Foundation involvement is unnecessary.
