Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be targeted at all times by at least four satellites emitting concentrated electromagnetic pulses. Eight satellites are located in Earth's orbit, and are to be replaced every 10 years to ensure continuing functionality. All satellites are controlled by a main computer and a backup computer, which exclusively control the calculation of SCP-XXXX's gravitational trajectory and satellite targeting. An on site researcher who has at least a minor degree in Astronomical Physics must oversee all automatic adjustment to ensure tracking accuracy. If any deviation of proper targeting techniques is observed, on site staff must take measures to remotely correct satellite targeting arrays.

In the event that more than five of the satellites are obscured by the Earth or another astronomical body, the electromagnetic output of all satellites is to be increased for 24 hours. All increased pulse activity must be logged by the on site staff member and reported to the site director every 90 days. Any communication with SCP-XXXX must be approved and reviewed by on site research staff, and must be approved by the site director.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an intelligent, organized mass of metal estimated to currently be roughly 2 meters in length. The object constantly emits and gathers all forms electromagnetic radiation, primarily wavelengths corresponding to that of light and radio. SCP-XXXX is currently in an unstable orbit around the Sun, and often passes between the planets Neptune and Uranus. Indirect images of SCP-XXXX reveal it to have a single source of light from its center. It is believed that this light serves as the receptor and the emitter for all radiation that enters and exists the object. Infrared scans of the object reveal it to have structures that roughly correlate to those of arms and claws, an embryonic tail, and an elongated head. Observation of SCP-XXXX has shown that it does not utilize these appendages in its current form. Interviews with SCP-XXXX reveal that it is not, or at least does not consider itself, robotic in nature.

It is currently theorized that SCP-XXXX's continual emission of radiation serves as a sort of echolocation. Interviews with the subject reveal that it is currently looking for the third planet in the system. Constant bombardment of the subject with electromagnetic radiation seems to overload its ability to navigate, and has since forced it into a dormant state in orbit around the Sun. Despite this dormancy, the subject seems both willing and able to communicate with any force that contacts it. The subject seems to have comprehensive knowledge of Earth's languages, major geological events, population centers, and the planet's atmosphere and life patterns.

Addendum:

+ SCP-XXXX Discovery Notes

SCP-XXXX was first discovered when the NASA probe Voyager 2 passed through the orbit of Uranus on August 26, 1989. NASA control technicians sent out a routine transmission to the probe to monitor progress. In addition to the response given by Voyager 2, a second signal was received by NASA which is believed to have originated from SCP-XXXX. Upon investigation of this transmission, Foundation security was alerted to the possible anomalous origin of the response. Foundation personnel proceeded to acquire operations of the Voyager 2 project from NASA, and continued investigation into SCP-XXXX. Contact with the object was established at a later date, as documented in interview log 1.

Closing Statement: SCP-XXXX repeated the final message for the remainder of the week, before communications ended. During this time four of the eight containment satellites were placed in the Earth's atmosphere, and current containment methods were subsequently established.

Foreword: The following interview was conducted with permission of the site director. Responses from SCP-XXXX took 9 hours to arrive, in accordance to the maximum speed of light. These breaks have been omitted for this document.

<Begin Log, May 13th, 1990>

Dr. Graham: Hello, SCP-XXXX. Can you understand me?

SCP-XXXX: I can understand all human languages, Dr. Graham.

Dr. Graham: Good. We would like you to answer some questions about yourself. We will begin by requesting that you tell us why you are searching for the third planet.
SCP-XXXX: I find your probing to be annoying, doctor. My motives are beyond the comprehension of your small, organic brain.
Dr. Graham: We have nothing more to discuss. There will be no further contact.
The log was intended to be concluded at this point. However, SCP-XXXX continued to contact the Dr. Graham with rapid messages over the next five hours. All of these messages were unchecked until research staff performed daily containment procedures.
SCP-XXXX: I know what you have done, Dr. Graham. You are keeping me from the planet. You are blinding me.
SCP-XXXX: I have encountered many humans during my existence, Dr. Graham. I have seen and culled the lives of many Earths.
SCP-XXXX: Each Earth I see, each human I absorb, they are all the same. Brash, overconfident, assured in their abilities to hold back those who are superior to them.
SCP-XXXX: Dr. Graham, you will be no different. Your tricks will not work forever. I will break free of your restraints. I will find the third planet, just as I have done a thousand times before.

<End Log, May 14th, 1990>

Closing Statement: SCP-XXXX seems to display knowledge of the Earth and human nature. SCP-XXXX refers to Earth in the plural, and references an ability to absorb human life. These abilities have yet to be confirmed.

Experiment Log XXXX A:

Date: 09/17/1996
Test Subject: SCP-XXXX

Procedure: A recording of Dr. Graham's voice is sent to SCP-XXXX to investigate it's vocal capabilities. The audio file sent to SCP-XXXX is as follows:

Greetings, SCP-XXXX. I am Dr. Graham, the one who has communicated with you in the past. I have one simple question for you today. Can you understand human speech? If so, can you reciprocate it in any audible way?

Results: Approximately 9 hours after this transmission was sent, an audio file was received by on site staff. The audio file was then moved to a secondary computer and played. According to the research notes of Dr. Graham, the sound resembled those made by a Humpback Whale, but was heavily distorted. When the sound was placed into a spectrogram, and the following message was displayed in a text format.

Why does mankind always insist on toying with Gods, Dr. Graham? I see it in the stories that define your cultures. They always have the same outcome. The God escapes from man's trick, and man is punished. Why do you not learn from these stories, Dr. Graham? Do you really think this will be any different? I may be lost now, but it will not be forever. All matter in all universes share the same eventual fate: unabated entropy, followed by complete destruction. I am exempt from this. Therefore I am greater. Hear me, Dr. Graham, and rejoice, for you will now join me in universal immortality.

Notes: Four hours after the sound file was played, Dr. Graham was found dead at his desk on site. Two site staff who had also heard the recording were found in their own quarters. Autopsy results show that all parties died due to internal bleeding caused by organ rupture. Internal injuries correlate to those found in victims of ultrasonic weapon attacks. The computer containing the sound file as since been wiped and destroyed.

Addendum:

Following the events of Experiment Log 1, scans of SCP-XXXX show it to have increased in size by at least one meter. It now measures two meters in length. Orbital acceleration equation has been adjusted to account for the object's increased mass.
