Object Class : Keter Euclid
Special Containment Procedures : In the case of a 5077 event, MTF Lambda-5 “White Rabbits” must be deployed on site and perform the "Catalog Procedure". A coverup story about a horror play taking place inside the library that hosted the event must be spread in any news media in, at least, 10 minutes.
SCP 5077-1 must be held in a 5m x 5m humanoid containment chamber. The chamber must have at least six well maintained SRAs and Hume levels must be kept under ██. All copies of SCP 5077-2 must be locked in a special containment locker in site-19. Handling and reading SCP 5077-2 must be performed only by 4/5077 clearence personel.
Incursions and exploration inside SCP 5077-A are prohibted, the only exception being the "Catalog Procedure", where entering SCP 5077-A is obligatory.
Description: SCP 5077 is the designation for an anomalous event that happens in libraries around the world when two items, designated SCP 5077-1 and SCP 5077-2, interact with each other.
SCP 5077-1 is a caucasian european male, 1.85 meters tall, redhead, dark colored skin and, in the present moment, goes by the name of Dr. Langton Linderbrock. He wears a beige robe that covers all of his body (Carbon 14 tests indicates that the robe fabric dates back 4000 years ago). SCP 5077-1 is a level II Type Green reality bender, capable of materializing ink and paper from a pocket dimension designated 5077-1-A.
The ink and paper (95% of the cases papyrus), if used individually by any human being other than SCP 5077-1, won't manifest its anomalous properties. If given enough time, SCP 5077-1 will start to write, and, if not interrupted during the writing process, will produce a SCP 5077-2 instance.
Trying to interrupt the writing process caused distinct results, as can be seen in the chart below:
| OUTCOME | RECURRENCE (%) |
|---|---|
| SCP 5077-1 stopped writing and initiated conversation with researcher | 70 |
| SCP 5077-1 became shrouded in a thick blackened fog for 10 minutes and then restarted writing | 15 |
| Room where SCP 5077-1 is held became inaccessible and impossible to be observed for a period of 2 days | 10 |
| SCP 5077-1 tried to breach containment by [REDACTED] | 4 |
| A 5077 event was triggered in ██ libraries | 1 |
Outside containment, SCP 5077-1 can shape and mold any kind of matter at will and can, if given enough time, create a spatial void (maximum range observed of 1km radius) that leads to SCP 5077-A.
SCP 5077-2 is the collective of books produced by SCP 5077-1. All instances of SCP 5077-2 features a hard cover with the title “Misanthrope”1 inscribed in it. Pages of the book are made with the same kind of paper that SCP 5077-1 uses when writing said instance and has no exact number of pages (thought it has been observed that all instances features at least 2020 pages).
When SCP 5077-1 finishes a SCP 5077-2 instance and opens it, a 5077 event is triggered.
Discovery: SCP 5077 was discovered in 1971 when several distress calls coming from the Library of Congress, Washington DC, caught Foundation’s attention.
Police reported that people in the library’s vicinity listened to constant screaming, loud bell sounds and incomprehensible vocalizations (similar to gregorian chants) coming from within the library.
After 10 minutes of various attempts by the police to retrieve the missing civilians, a black thick fog surrounded the library, causing mass panic. MTF Lambda-5 (“White Rabbits”) was deployed on site and entered the area within SCP 5077. After 10 minutes all anomalous activity ceased3 and MTF Gamma-5 (“Red Herring”) performed protocol “See no Evil”, preventing a possible Broken Masquerade scenario.
After the incident, Foundation operatives kept watch in all libraries in the U.S. as well as in most of libraries in [REDACTED] countries, leading to discovery of SCP 5077-1.
SCP 5018-1 was found inside the Egyptian Public Library in Dokky as the sole survivor of a 5077 event aside from the Foundation agents. Dr. Langton Linderbrock, a professor of [REDACTED] was considered missing by state police of [REDACTED] after the University stated that he hasn't returned from his expedition to Egypt.
Langton disappearance , however, caught Foundation’s attention when no prior records of Dr Langton were found by state police, such as birth certificate and relatives, and skech given by the University corresponded as the surviving man in the event’s location.
Dr Linderbrock was distressed and seemingly anxious, but did not resisted to the Foudation Agents, and suggested his own containment, acting like he wanted to be captured. Langton gave details for his anomalous properties and how to supress them, leading to what is called the "Catalog Procedure", a method for containment of 5077 events.
Although SCP 5077-1 seems to be cooperative with all Foudation staff, every 6 days he begins the process of writing a SCP 5077-2 instance, and if not interrupted, he will open said instance, generating a 5077 event4
