Item #:** SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to contained in a about half a football field sized containment chamber with a 100 meter ceiling, resembling the environment of a north american temperate rain forest, with 6 guards patrolling around the perimeter. The guards are to be armed with disposable gas canisters, and tranquilizer darts, along with lethal weaponry up to assault rifles. Guards are to wear insulating gear made of Kevlar combined with rubber. No tasers or other electronic items are to kept within 25 meters of the perimeter of the chamber. No electric wires from the main faculty are allowed to be routed within 50 meters of the chamber. The chamber's electronic systems are to be powered with a series of private gas motor, with all wires insulated. A charge of 4000 volts are to run through a wire in the roof for an hour every week, at 12:15 am.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an osprey of enormous (about 5X) size. SCP-XXXX, exhibits plumage of golden yellow, along with bright blue stripes.
SCP-XXXX acts as a normal osprey would, however, it can also appear to absorb electricity , and appears to feed on electrical energy as opposed to predation. SCP-XXXX has what appears to be 2 muscular organs on the side of it's body, similar to that of an electric eel. It can also discharge the electricity it previously absorbed, up to 8000 volts in an spherical 45 meter by 45 meter by 45 meter area, which will instantly kill it's prey. It's ability also seems to get stronger in thunderstorms. It doesn't appear to eat it's prey however, seemingly getting all it's energy through thunderbolts and static electricity during thunderstorms, which it will intentionally fly into. It's feathers and scales seems to be insulated against electricity, however, electrons will still cling to the feather like that of a normal feather.
It is very aggressive, attacking any thing that comes within 200 meters of it's nest. It's doesn't form a traditional birds nest, but instead carve a totem shaped of a tree and rest on top of it. This totem often resembles that of native american design.
**Addendum: SCP-XXXX was first discovered by agent(REDACTED) in the forests west of (redacted) , British Columbia. The creature had at the time made contact with a group of first nations people on a reserve, where the inhabitants believed it to be the legendary creature in native american legend known as a thunderbird. They would leave offerings to the creatures once a month, which was strangely accepted, although the SCP-XXXX had no need for food, but did seemingly was interested by the incenses and totems. The SCP-XXXX was also believed to be responsible for the periodic power outages in (REDACTED), nearby. The creature was then slowly tracked down over the next month both by nine tail fox, and an amateur cryptozoologist, who had somehow learned of it's existence from the native americans. After some time and effort, both the cryptozoologist, and the creature were tracked down and tranquilized. The cryptozoologist and the native americans on the reserve were given class 3 amnesiacs, and the creature flown back to the main facility for study.
SCP-XXXX is highly dangerous, attempting to use it's ability to shutdown it's original containment chamber and escape on 2 separate accounts, unintentionally almost shutting down the entire facilities electrical grid. The first attempt was only prevented by the intervention of Dr.(REDACTED) who bravely attempted to travel out of the safe shelter and rebooted the electrical grid with a second generator in the basement of the facility, unfortunately she was taken down and killed by a SCP-4XXX which had escaped in the chaos on her way back up. The second attempt had been foiled by the efforts of the newly created emergency response and special missions team, (REDACTED).
