Ghosts in Withering Shells

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-A is contained within standard Incorporeal Entity Vacuum Chamber (IEVC). This chamber is to be fitted with EMF readers, thermometers, motion sensors and video surveillance. The room itself has specialised paranormal readers (SPR) in and outside the chamber. Personal that are required to enter the chamber must bring a UV Flashlight and a Paranormal Communication Device (PCD), also known as the “Spirt Box”. SCP-XXXX-A may be allowed to request certain items for entertainment, depending on her behaviour.

The chamber must have these following conditions at all times:
• EMF must be at a level 3 or higher.
• Temperature must be below 10c
If the EMF is a level 1 or 2 and temperature is now room temperature, then SCP-XXXX-A has escaped containment.

In case of SCP-XXXX-A has breached containment, all personal must have portable EMF readers, UV Flashlights, thermometers and Spirt boxes in an attempt to find SCP-XXXX-A. Due to its nature, SCP-XXXX-A cannot be physically constrained and must be convinced to follow the personal back to its containment. If difficulties with the entity is called, then Dr L █████ M█████ must be called to further convince the entity to return back to containment.

Description: SCP-XXXX refers to a potential group of humanoid entities that are paranormal in nature. These indices are told to be varies in their abilities, personality and motives by SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX also take 2 forms, described as a Physical Form and Spirt/Ghost Form. Spirt/Ghost forms are the preferred state that SCP-XXXX take. In this form, the entities are invisible to the human eye, but several traces are still present. High levels of EMF, low temperatures, fingerprints when shone with a UV light, a rise in the SPR, motion detection on motion sensors as well as interacting with the environment; this could range to simply throwing an object to flickering all lights and violently shake all items in the room. However, there are more traces according to SCP-XXXX-A.

Physical forms are often used for hunting humans. In this form the entities can touch and harm subjects although subjects are unable to touch the entities. This form is visible to all subjects and shows that the entities are often covered in scars, wounds or exposed flesh. According to SCP-XXXX-A, some entities are altered, causing them to have several mutations such as additional limbs, multiple heads, wings, horns, fangs and glowing eyes. When a manifestation occurs, the EMF is at a level 5, temperature is now below 0c, flashing lights from the entity’s presence and the SPR is at a 10. Oddly, these entities don’t seem to stay in this form for long and return back to the Spirt/Ghost form.

There is only one of these indices that is in containment at Site 24.

SCP-XXXX-A appears as a young adult female around in her early 20s. The entity is called “Marie” and was supposedly murdered ██ years ago. The entity has long blonde hair, appearing as messy, and a single milky eye; however, the features such as the iris and pupil are still visible. The entity has pale skin with several wounds and open gashes in her body, including several indices of decay; most present on the entity’s lower legs, wrists, hands and a portion of the entity’s face that now left exposure to the entity’s left eye socket; though, there is a faint white wispy orb of light that appears to function as her left eye. More strangely is the addition of the entity’s two extra limbs located on the shoulder blades; these limbs appear to be elongated arms expect from the lack of hands, in their place are human spines. They appear to function as weapons for SCP-XXXX-A to lacerate her subjects, although she has not used them to harm any personal so far. The entity appears to be wearing blue denim jeans and a white and blue torn t-shirt, these clothing have numerous stains of blood. The entity does not know how she is alive or how she became an anomalous entity.

The entity also appears to have the ability to phase through walls via gateways in walls she calls “spectral doors” that are invisible to the human eye; she claims that it’s an outline of a door in made from a slow blue flame. This “blue flame” is called “spectral essence”, as SCP-XXXX-A defines it; this essence is what SCP-XXXX entities are composed of while in Spirt Form. Another unusual trait of the entity is its ability to manifest electromagnetic pulses (EMP) when entering its Physical Form. This ability is strengthened if the entity is enraged or in distress.

The entity does not appear to have any malicious or murderous intent. It is seen to be docile, confused, depressed and higher forms of anxiety, however due to Dr L █████ M█████’s visits/experiments, she appears to become less depressed and even mischievous/playful. It’s possible that the entity has bonded with Dr M█████. The entity has remarked that she has distain for her new body and wishes to feel normal again. It is unknown if SCP-XXXX-A can be transformed back into a human again, but trails are pending. Strangely, she can use the spirt box to talk with her own voice directly.

After spending ██ months in containment, SCP-XXXX-A has escaped its containment █ times. This is often caused by the entity not having any personal visit her, and the escape would grab personal’s attention; however there are indices where SCP-XXXX-A has escaped to explore the site itself, appearing in the Cafeteria, Surveillance Room, Dr M█████’s quarters and even seen interacting with Foundation computers. The entity seems enjoys reading other SCP documents and even added her own addendum. Although she is reminded several times to not to escape containment, it’s impossible to properly restrict her to her chamber due to her nature.

SCP-XXXX-A was discovered by several reports of ghost sightings and even lacerations. SCP-XXXX-A was in an abandoned factory in ██████████, Nevada. A retrieval team was sent to the factory, led by Dr M█████ for the possible indices of a possible SCP entity. The team used the same equipment as the ghost sighting reports entails, including UV flashlights and spirt boxes. The team came in contact with the entity through the spirt box and several footprints and handprints shown by UV light. The team persuaded the entity to come with them into the containment transport. The motion senor in the Temporary cell in the transport was triggered and the entity was captured.

Addendum XXXX-A.1: Initial interview
Date: January 5th, 20██
Interviewer: Dr L █████ M█████
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-A

Note: The interview is taking place 2 days after SCP-XXXX-A’s retrieval, all conditions indicate that she has not breeched containment instantly or manifested into her Physical form. The interview is meant to create some sort of relationship with the entity, due to her abilities so far, its best not to aggravate her; the whole site could be in danger if the worst should happen.

[BEGIN LOG]
Dr M█████: Good morning, SCP-XXXX-A, and welcome to the F-
Dr M█████ is abruptly cut off by SCP-XXXX-A’s cries through the spirt box
SCP-XXXX-A: Where… Where… am I? What is this place?
Dr M█████: Well, this is the SCP Foundation and you are in your containment chamber, XXXX-A. I apologies if this is scary for you but this is for both the Foundation’s and for your benefit.
SCP-XXXX-A: Wha- Why do you call me by a number? Am… Am I some caged monster you are going to experiment on? Who even are you!?
SCP-XXXX-A cries harder and the SPR reaches 8. The containment lights start to flicker.
Dr M█████: Please calm down. My name is Dr L █████ M█████. We are not going to experiment on you, but you must realise that you are no longer a normal person anymore. XXXX-A is the designated name we have given to you, I am sorry if this name appears inhuman, but we are trying to help y-
SPR reaches 10 and SCP-XXXX-A enters her Physical form.
SCP-XXXX-A: LEAVE ME ALONE!!!
The containment lights suddenly explode and Dr M█████ is forced to end the interview early and escape the containment chamber.
[END LOG]

Notes: SCP-XXXX-A had created a large electrical disturbance that effected the east wing of the site, although this didn’t result in a full containment breech of several SCPs, the danger that SCP-XXXX-A cannot underestimated. The interviews are still one of the only options that can make SCP-XXXX-A more cooperable. The entity’s mental health appears to be declining since her retrieval, it is advised that we try to keep the entity from getting emotionally distressed.

Addendum XXXX-A.2: Follow-up interview
Date: January 7th, 20██
Interviewer: Dr L █████ M█████
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-A

[BEGIN LOG]
Dr M█████: Good Evening, XXXX-A, how are you feeling?
SCP-XXXX-A: Why? Why won’t you leave me alone?
Dr M█████: I, well we, want to help you and the only way we can do that is if you talk to me.
SCP-XXXX-A: Help me? You can’t help me. I’m already dead! Can’t you see that!
SPR reaches 7
Dr M█████: I can see that your… condition… is unnatural, but we can help to change that. The foundation has many people that have strange abilities, and some are also dead, and yet still alive, like you. We managed to help most of them, and we can help you too, XXXX-A.
SCP-XXXX-A sighs sadly. SPR reaches 8.
SCP-XXXX-A: I… don’t know if you can. I haven’t seen someone like me turn back to normal.
Dr M█████: We can always try.
Dr M█████ looks over to the SPR monitor
Dr M█████: I might cut this interview short, I don’t want to agitate you, I apologies if I had. Is there anything you need at the moment XXXX-A?
SPR reaches 10 and SCP-XXXX-A enters her Physical form. The containment lights start flickering. Startling Dr M█████.
SCP-XXXX-A: Please, stop calling me that.
Dr M█████: I- I’m sorry… What… What is your name?
SCP-XXXX-A appears to be confused by this question.
SCP-XXXX-A: My… Name?
SCP-XXXX-A pauses
SCP-XXXX-A: I’m Marie
Dr M█████: Its… nice to meet you, Marie.
SCP-XXXX-A appears to be stunned by this response and returns to her Spirt form. SPR lowers to 6
[END LOG]

Note: SCP-XXXX-A’s electrical disturbance was greatly reduced, only effecting her containment. Its best now referring SCP-XXXX-A as “Marie” when talking to her; it is unknown if this is her real name before she became SCP-XXXX-A or a new name she had called herself after the transformation into the entity. Anyways, it seems that SCP-XXXX-A seems to be less in distress after the first interaction. In addition, her comment on not seeing anyone one like her turn back to normal may imply that there could be more SCP-XXXX entities as predicted.

Addendum XXXX-A.3: Incident (1/10/██)
On 1/10/██, SCP-XXXX-A escaped her containment. She had managed to escape while the EMF reader and SPF devices were being checked for maintenance after both devices suddenly became offline, its suspected that SCP-XXXX-A must have tampered with them to cause a diversion. Surveillance shows that SCP-XXXX-A was traveling through several hallways and headed towards Cafeteria, shown by the hallway lights flickering above her as she passed by. She appeared in her Physical form several times however this was only for split seconds. When she was in the Cafeteria, the personal noticed the lights flickering as well as a chilling cold and by this time it was discovered that SCP-XXXX-A had escaped her chamber.
Due to her behaviour, an MTF was not used for her retrieval, instead Dr M█████ and several personal used EMF readers and spirt boxes to find SCP-XXXX-A. The entity was found when a floating sandwich was being eaten despite of no one there. Dr M█████ persuaded her to follow him back into containment.

Addendum XXXX-A.4: Interview Incident (2/10/██)
Date: January 12th, 20██
Interviewer: Dr L █████ M█████
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-A

[BEGIN LOG]
Dr M█████: I’m guessing you know why I am here.
SCP-XXXX-A: Because I left my room?
Dr M█████: Yeah. Can you tell me why you left the containment?
SCP-XXXX-A: Well… Uh… You see, I don’t really get much to do here and I have to wait days to talk to you, or to anyone.
Dr M█████: So, it was to get mine or someone else’s attention?
SCP-XXXX-A pauses
SCP-XXXX-A: I guess you can say that… Plus I’d like to see what else is in this place.
Dr M█████: This site is a very dangerous place that holds several extremely deadly entities and wondering around the site on your own could be very dangerous to you and everyone.
SPR reaches 8.
SCP-XXXX-A: S-Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare anyone.
Dr M█████ sighs
Dr M█████: Its fine… Just try not to do that, if you do… try to stay away any rooms that has SCP and a number above the door, Ok?
SCP-XXXX-A: Yes, Doc.
Dr M█████: By the way, how did you escape your chamber? The monitoring equipment didn’t detect you leaving.
SCP-XXXX-A: Oh! I used the many spectral doors that you have in this place.
Dr M█████: Spectral doors? Are they like a… portal to another room or to the other side of a wall?
SCP-XXXX-A: Something like that.
Dr M█████: So… in despite of all of the measurements we took to contain you to this room, you could just walk out of it through a magical door?
Dr M█████ and SCP-XXXX-A remain silent
SCP-XXXX-A: S-Sorry… I’ll try not to wander too far from my room if it makes it any better.
Dr M█████: Yeah… it’s probably for the best, Marie.
[END LOG]

Note: Its apparent that SCP-XXXX-A has a way to phase through walls, which now makes containing her impossible, however this would make SCP-XXXX-A an Apollyon Classed entity. Due to the relationship between the Foundation and the entity it can be quite possible to simply tell her stay in her chamber, despite of “spectral doors” being present in the room. For this reason, she will remain a Keter Classed Entity. Also, we don’t know why she was eating food, since she can’t process food at all.; perhaps she eats it for the taste.

Addendum XXXX-A.5: Experiment #1 / 2# / 3#
On January 29th and 31st, 20██, SCP-XXXX-A was given several tests to see how her abilities operate and how far they could be stretched. Three experiments were held to test the entity’s phasing abilities, electronic disturbance abilities and how effective her additional limbs function. These tests were controlled by Dr M█████.

Experiment #1: Phasing Ability Test
Task: SCP-XXXX-A is told to phase through several walls made from various materials, thickness and height.
Description: SCP-XXXX-A was able to phase through most of the walls, both in Physical and Spirt forms, she sometimes wasn’t able to pass through some walls. When asked why she claims that there isn’t a spectral door present, she did however say that she can create one, but it will take a while. This process takes from less than 30 seconds up to over 5 minutes, the characteristics of the wall doesn’t seem to alter this process, but it is in fact altered on how fast the entity can create the “door”.

Experiment #2: Additional Limbs Test
Task: SCP-XXXX-A is told to use her additional limbs to lacerate several realistic human dummies and to lacerate a D-class subject until it expires within the entity’s containment chamber.
Description: Task 1: SCP-XXXX-A was confused by this task but proceeded to lacerate the unarmoured dummy and sliced it in half within 4.6 seconds. She proceeded to do the same task while in Physical form also making the same result.
Task 2: SCP-XXXX-A was told to do the same task but to a dummy wearing standard MTF armour, outfit and equipment. Once again SCP-XXXX-A lacerated the dummy and within 5.2 seconds the dummy’s right arm, left leg and head were torn from its body. The same task was done again in Physical form, causing all the dummy’s limbs to be completely removed violently. It seems that the forms that SCP-XXXX-A doesn’t interfere with the execution of the prey. It’s safe to say that the entity knows that these are just testing dummies.
Task 3: D-9350, a 42-year-old male, was placed within the chamber and SCP-XXXX-A was told to lacerate D-9350. The spirt box was not present in the room, therefore D-9350 cannot hear the entity. The spirt box was outside of the chamber with Dr M█████. SCP-XXXX-A was incredibly distressed by this request and refused. The entity was told to do the task again and she refused again and asked what he do wrong. Dr M█████ informed the entity that D-9350 is a convicted murder. Within seconds D-9350 was lacerated although not enough to slice through the whole of the subject’s body and limbs, it seemed that the entity was punishing the subject instead of immediately killing the subject. The subject was banging on the doors, begging to let him out and the entity suddenly let out an “electronic ghostly scream”, the first indices that a sound was made by the entity while in her Spirt Form. The subject was then thrown towards the celling of the chamber and landed in the centre of the room. He then started choking, presumed being strangled by SCP-XXXX-A. Strangely the entity entered Physical Form she dismembers subjects’ limbs from his body and flung them against the walls of the chamber. SCP-XXXX-A then made the final blow and slammed her additional limb’s spine into D-9350’s left eye, expiring the subject. The entity was then appeared to be weeping while sat in the centre of the room with her hands covering her face. The second D-class were about to start however Dr M█████ was against continuing the test after the results of the first test and the current distress shown by the subject, but the tests still continued. When the second D-class was entered the chamber, the D-class’ head was instantly obliterated in a single swing of her spine tipped limb and was immediately killed. Dr M█████ ordered personal to stop the tests and entered the chamber to comfort SCP-XXXX-A for the rest of the day.

Experiment #1: Electronic Disturbance Test
Task: SCP-XXXX-A is told to create the biggest electromagnetic pulse that she can possibly create. Several electronics are placed 50m apart.
Description: The entity was transported to ██████████ Testing site, Nevada Desert. The entity appeared to be uncomfortable by this task but proceeded to do so. The entity appeared to disrupt nearby electronics however the strength of the electronic disturbance grew stronger as if the entity was charging its ability and suddenly the entity let out a EMP blast that spanned across ██m, disabling all electronics and transport at the whole site. The initial blast threw personal back from the shockwave. Due to all transport in the area being disabled all personal waited 16 hours until a Retrieval Team was sent to the area for the possible risk of SCP-XXXX-A escaping. All personal and SCP-XXXX-A was retrieved.

Addendum XXXX-A.ERR: TWFyaWUncyBFbnRyeQ

Looked like you missed a few details. So, I filled some of them in! :)
Also, you guys have got a lot of strange things and people in this place. Almost scary looking. I didn’t do to them! I promise!
This place really needs some colour too.
-Marie :)

Addendum XXXX-A.6: Interview Incident (2/11/██)
Note: SCP-XXXX-A managed to access a terminal where see was able to change her own SCP File and saw ██ other SCP Files. While she has escaped containment █ times now, this is the biggest threat the entity has done to Site ██. This has caused several personal to suggest restricting her from leaving the chamber, while this is probably the best and only solution, SCP-XXXX-A has shown several times that she can escape at any time, even shut down the whole site! While it is best to keep SCP-XXXX-A in a good mood to prevent any possible incidents from occurring, the best that the Foundation can do to give the entity restrictions is to lessen the amount of visits by Dr M█████.

Interviewer: Dr L █████ M█████
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-A

[BEGIN LOG]

Dr M█████ sighs while placing a hand on his forehead
SCP-XXXX-A: Umm… What’s wrong L█████?
Dr M█████: You messed with your SCP File when you escaped, didn’t you?
SCP-XXXX-A: Well… I thought… you needed to know some other things.
Dr M█████: You also seen several SCP files that belong to other entities as well.
SCP-XXXX-A: Because they looked fun to read! They are like scary stories you tell around a campfire.
Dr M█████: Maire, they are real things that exist, and they are dangerous; maybe not to you, but to everyone else they are.
SCP-XXXX-A: I didn’t mean to cause a giant problem.
Dr M█████ sighs
Dr M█████: Lets… Let’s just go over what you put into the file. The others that are like you don’t all have the two extra spine tipped limbs. You typed that some of them have multiple heads, wings, horns, fangs and glowing eyes.
SCP-XXXX-A: Yeah, some of the ghosts that I saw passing that damned factory had those. Guess I’m lucky that I didn’t return to this world with three heads.
Dr M█████: Do these effect the ghost’s abilities? Do they have more or less abilities than you?
SCP-XXXX-A: I don’t know, it varies. Two ghosts with the same… deformations, have different abilities and if they have the same ability, it often is either stronger or weaker than the other ghost. Some I think could have been vampire ghosts!
Dr M█████: I see… Anyways, what about the new addendum you added to your file? We would of know that you would have changed something without having to write an addendum.
SCP-XXXX-A: Well… I didn’t know that.
SCP-XXXX-A chuckles
Dr M█████: The SCP Foundation doesn’t have a sense of humour, unfortunately.
SCP-XXXX-A: But you do.
