A juvenile specimen of SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Clarence Level: 3

Special Containment Procedures: All knowledge of everything related to SCP-XXXX is to be strictly prohibited from the public and all personnel under level 3 clearance.

If information on this SCP is to reach the public protocol ███████-SCP-XXXX is to be executed with the approval of Dr. Wilke and 05-█, █, and █.

Captive instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept in a 32ft. x 28ft. x 9ft. freshwater tank with a water depth of between 4-8ft. and at least 10 square ft. of land (preferably dirt and small rocks). adequate building materials should be provided. SCP-XXXX must always be kept in groups of 20 or more individuals. the temperature of these tanks should never reach above 86f and never below 50f. for more information on SCP-XXXX tanks see Addendum SCP-XXXX-1.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a species of genetically modified (see addendum SCP-XXXX-2) most closely resembling Caridina Multidentata however growing to much larger sizes of 14"-16" and having the ability to breath on land by the secretion of a water based gel by pores in the carapace that coat the gills allowing them to breath on land. Mature individuals of SCP-XXXX bear a much higher intelligence then those of other Crustaceans and indeed all other invertebrates by displaying the traits of problem solving, self-awareness, learning, culture, logic, advanced communication, and to perceive information. all known instances of SCP-XXXX are confined to the island of SCP-XXXX-1 ([REDACTED] JA,[REDACTED] RU, [REDACTED] EN,) located in the North Pacific Ocean roughly 1,750 Kilometers (1,090 miles) east of Tokyo. As with all information associated with SCP-XXXX knowledge of SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept away from the public and personnel with lower than level 3 clearance. this island is about 1,500 km in perimeter.

Behavior: The primary trait of SCP-XXXX is their astounding intelligence, having formed into a civilization most comparable in development to the human stone age. Individuals SCP-XXXX form colonies of 1,000-30,0000 individuals composed of designated structures for various purposes mostly habitation. These structures are made of many materials including sticks, hollowed logs, hardened mud, Human created materials (plastic, clothing, electronics, etc.) and a concrete-like substance that SCP-XXXX creates using various tools.

The societal structure of SCP-XXXX varies between colonies however most follow an oligarchic or tribal system with a group or individual holding the majority of the power. In the most populous colonies (10,000 or more) the system of power may be a primitive form of Democracy. SCP-XXXX is a mostly peaceful species, displaying high levels of collaboration between individuals and colonies. several instances of warlike behavior have been observed in SCP-XXXX for unknown reasons.

Addendum SCP-XXXX-1: Water PH should be between 6.0-8.0, Water Ammonia should stay as close to 0 as possible. Anything containing copper should be kept out of the tanks as copper in all forms is highly toxic to all invertebrates. though not necessary for survival SCP-XXXX should be kept with members of the amphibious Ampullariidae family of Gastropods specifically [REDACTED] (known as SCP-XXXX-2), a species displaying gigantism also endemic to SCP-XXXX-1. (Aquatic and land mosses, grass, and leafy plants should be planted into the tank.

Addendum SCP-XXXX-2: Due to the examination of the genetic code of SCP-XXXX it is likely that this species was genetically modified roughly [DATA EXPUNGED] by as of yet unknown means. some have theorized that same entity that created SCP-XXXX may have also created Humans due to the overbearing similarities between SCP-XXXX and Humans, going as far to call SCP-XXXX a "Human prototype".
