Special containment procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in an isolated room with dimmable lights and no see-through parts as looking at SCP-XXXX for too long with the naked eye is strictly prohibited and could lead to mental dysfunction or death. surveillance must be done by viewing the object through camera surveillance. The effects of SCP-XXXX will not occur through camera feed.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a large rectangular mirror of approximately 6.5 by 2.5 feet. it has a brown frame with flowers engraved in it and a line pattern on the edges. there is also a little flower ornament on top of the frame. the mirroring part of SCP-XXXX reflects just like any other mirror.

SCP-XXXX behaves like a normal mirror until all lights around it are dimmed. while dimmed, staff must be isolated from SCP-XXXX at all times. subjects that look at SCP-XXXX while the lights around the mirror are dimmed show signs of anxiety and trauma overtime. the causes of those effects are still unknown. update 25/03/2020: Using [REDACTED] we have been able to capture a figure that shows up in the mirror over time. we refer to this figure as SCP-XXXX-(1). SCP-XXXX-(1) is most likely the cause of the effects that occur on multiple subjects. the effects of SCP-XXXX-(1) are highly hazardous and should be kept away from staff at all times. the figure is identical to the subject that is currently looking at SCP-XXXX.

*another few minutes pass, D-2543 begins to look worried and anxious.*

Dr. Stevens: You look worried, what's going on?

D-2543: I don't know, i just have this feeling…

Dr. Stevens: Please elaborate.

D-2543: I feel anxious, it's getting harder to breathe. i feel like i want to get out of here. Away from the site.

Dr. Stevens: Do you see anything in the mirror?

D-2543: No… *pauses* Hold on, I…

*D-2543 immediately stops talking and stares into the mirror even more concentrated then before*

Dr. Stevens: Do you see anything, what's going on?

*D-2543 doen't respond and has a really scared and anxious look on his face*

Dr. Stevens: D-2543, please answer my questions.

*D-2543 still does not respond*

Dr.stevens: D-2543, if you do not respond now we will have to forfeit the experiment.

*D-2543 doesn't respond*

Dr. Stevens: Alright then, forfeit experiment!.

*as the lights brighten, D-2543 seems to snap out of something. the scared look rapidly fades to a face of disbelief. he sits there for a moment and after a few seconds he starts to scream and cry. he was then escorted back to his cell.

D-2543 was mentally unstable for roughly 2 and a half weeks. after that he didn't remember anything about the experiment. doctors could locate some decreased brain mass after the experiment happened. this caused memory loss, reduced responsiveness and physical complaints.

Discovery log: the mirror was found on ██/██/████, Africa, in ██████, a small village near the ████████. it was found by rescue soldiers from the ████ and immediately captured by the SCP foundation.

Special containment procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a reinforced room with 19.5 inch thick walls, an airlock with double 5 inch thick blast doors and level 4 security clearance and 3 inch thick double plated bullet proof glass to prevent SCP-XXXX from causing a total breach in the facility. No mirrors apart from the one in the containment chamber can be within a radius of 200 meters from SCP-XXXX. both of the blast doors must be closed at all times and can only be opened for testing procedures. when a staff member needs to access the chamber, at least one door must be closed at all times. when both the doors are opened at the same time, sector 7 must go in lockdown and the staff in the control room of the containment chamber must be arrested or terminated. SCP-XXXX must then be lured back to the original containment chamber.

Description: SCP-XXXX consist of two anomalies reffered to as SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-(1)

SCP-XXXX is an anomaly that occurs to mirrors of any kind. the anomaly does not have an embodiment, therefore the true face of SCP-XXXX is unknown. when this anomaly occurs, the normal reflection in the targeted mirro is replaced with a completely different dimension. the dimension is referred to as SCP-XXXX-(1). SCP-XXXX can move to any mirror at any place at any time, as long as the route to the mirror is not blocked off. SCP-XXXX is not able to possess a mirror that is not in a closed space. if the route to another mirror is blocked off, SCP-XXXX will stay in it's current mirror at all times. if the route to another mirror is blocked while SCP-XXXX is travelling to the targeted mirror, it will return to the previous mirror. if the routes to both mirrors are blocked, SCP-XXXX will stay still until one of the mirrors in available again. if 2 or more mirrors are available, SCP-XXXX will stay in one mirror for approximately 20-30 minutes before it moves to another.

SCP-XXXX-(1) is an alternate dimension that copies the point of view seen from the mirror, but replaces everything else with it's own dimension. you can access this dimension by walking through the mirror while SCP-XXXX has possessed it. the dimension mostly exists of approximately 74.000 square miles of grass plain. on the edges of this plain, there is an infinitely deep gap that reaches about a mile before the land continues. there are multiple concrete bridges drawn across the gap. the physics in SCP-XXXX-(1) seem to differ from ours, since the bridges are not supported by anything and are floating in midair. over the mile long gap, a forest type scene begins. this forest-like scene has not been explored by the foundation yet. in total, the forest area reaches 31000 square miles. after the forest area ends, the 'zone' begins. the zone is directly attached to the forest area. it is covered by what looks like a forcefield, but it doesn't stop or compensate any force. being in the zone is sure to cause memory loss, hallucinations (both visually and auditory), loss in taste, tinnitus, and in some rare cases tumors.

D-████ was sent in the dimension to investigate. He did not return after 48 hours of being in SCP-XXXX-(1), no information about SCP-XXXX-(1) was retrieved.

Addendum XXXX-02:

D-████ was sent in SCP-XXXX-(1) to investigate, but to differ from the previous test, carrying a communication system. D-████ described the dimension as 'just grass plain, that's it' after she roamed around in the dimension for 2 hours, she was commanded to come back to the facility, but she refused for an unknown reason. when the staff said she was allowed to come back, she replied with: "no, it's perfect here." update 25/04/2016: Considering journey Log 1, D-████ is assuming to be a victim of the 'Zone'.

Addendum XXXX-03:
After the first two incidents, MTF Gamma-5 ("Red herrings") was sent in the dimension to search for D-████, D-████ and further information about SCP-XXXX-(1). Agent ███████ wrote a log.

The first time entering was a bit overwhelming. we entered the mirror and ended up in a room that looked like a perfectly mirrored version of the exact containment chamber we were just in. but when we went outside to investigate the facility wasn't there anymore. it was replaced by an endless plain of grass and tiny daisies.

things are going well. we've found nothing but endless fields of grass, flowers and sometimes a tree. the sky is clear blue, and i don't think that's ever going to change. none of us have died yet, which is great. we're hoping to at least find one of the D-class and something else than just grass.

We've found D-████! unfortunately, he died of dehydration a long time ago so we're not gonna get any information out of him. we also still haven't found anything but grass and a dead D-class, so i hope that's gonna change soon.

We've found a huge ravine at the edge of the grass plain. we can't see the bottom, but we can see across. it's a long way, approximately a mile, but we can still see a dense forest in the distance. there is also a bridge in the distance, that goes all the way across the ravine. what a sight to see. we're heading to the bridge next.

We're at the bridge now. our plan is to go across and explore the forest that starts across the ravine. hopefully we'll find something interesting.

We've been searching for quite some time now only to result in nothing. i don't expect much out of this mission, but we're gonna keep going until we are forced to go back due to water and food shortage.

We found the edge of the forest. The next area is covered by some kind of forcefield, but you can pass right through. I'm happy that we've finally seemed to have found something interesting.

I don't know what's happening anymore. I'm in my hometown, which is located about 1250 miles away from the facility. There is no way i have walked 1250 miles in whatever time i have spent in this horrible dimension. There is nobody home, so no one can help me out. I also lost my squad and my supplies. I'm going to base early.

Addendum XXXX-03.1:
Only Agent ███████, the writer of the log and Agent ████ came back from the expedition. Agent ███████ was interrogated later that day. She did not talk much or give any useful answers. She claimed She lost track of what was real after she went trough the forcefield.

To continue further research, the foundation came to the conclusion that a separate crude facility within SCP-XXXX-(1) was required. A large mirror of 32 by 32 feet was constructed to transport materials and vehicles to SCP-XXXX-(1). The facility was finished at the date of 11/02/2017. This facility is referred to as Facility-01.

Addendum XXXX-05:

D-████ was commanded to parachute down the mile long gap while carrying a communication radio. 1 hour after the D-class jumped down, he claimed the air was getting denser and it was getting hard to breathe. he also said a sort of gas was filling the air. what type of gas this was is unknown. after 2 hours of gliding down, D-████ died of suffocation by the gas.

On 15/03/2017 a spacecraft was built in SCP-XXXX-(1). The foundation attempted to get a clear sight of SCP-XXXX-(1) by viewing it drom the top while drawing a crude map that was later digitally refined. the spacecraft was launched on 26/04/2017. the crude map was retrieved and refined. Since the refined map carried sensitive information, it has been digitally terminated.

Another facility has been built in the forest area 2500 miles from the original facility. the facility was designed to test the effects of the zone and if there is a way to contain it. This facility is referred to as Facility-02.

SCP-XXXX escaped his containment chamber after a security staff member was sent through the portal and both of the blast doors were opened by accident. Additional control room staff were arrested and SCP-XXXX was returned to it's chamber after 2 hours of containment breach. Update 25/07/2017: See Incident log-02.

After incident-02 occurred and the portal was reopened, Facility-01 and 02 have disappeared. The cause of the disappearance of Facility-01 and 02 are still to be found. This forces us to build a new facility near the new portal, referred to as Facility-03. There was still staff in Facility-01 and 02 when SCP-XXXX breached it's containment cell. of course, the staff disappeared with the two facilities, including rank-4 personnel. Another spacecraft will be built to observe the area once more.
