SCP-XXXX upon recovery

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to kept in a 0.5 meter by 0.5 meter container filled with mineral wool and fiberglass insulation. The inside of SCP-XXXX is to be filled with high density polyurethane antimicrobial foam and the pendulum is to be wrapped in compressed polyester. The pendulum of SCP-XXXX is to be kept hooked at all times outside of testing.

If SCP-XXXX is to be removed from this container for any reason it must be done by certified deaf D-Class personnel. Any observers will only be allowed to watch from a separate room that does not share a wall with the room that SCP-XXXX is in. In the event that is must be transported it must be done while SCP-XXXX in the container and with white noise louder than 150 decibels playing over the intercoms wherever it is and will be.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 20 centimeter by 10 centimeter pendulum wall clock. There are no brand markings on SCP-XXXX as well as no cords, batteries, or seemingly any other forms of energy production suggesting that SCP-XXXX may be powered by perpetual motion. There is no way to access the inside of SCP-XXXX as there are no panels or holes. In the cavity where the pendulum is, there is a hook that when attached to the pendulum stops it from swinging, as well as stopping the hands on the clock face and the ticking sound which further proves that SCP-XXXX is powered by the perpetual motion of the swinging pendulum. The number "1856" is carved into the back of SCP-XXXX. Carbon dating of the wood that SCP-XXXX is made out of shows that that is approximately the year it was made.

When any sapient and conscious individual hears the ticking sounds produced by SCP-XXXX their perception of time will be sped up as well as their need for food, water, and all other bodily processes. They will process time as if one minute was approximately one hour. After around 96 to 120 minutes the subject will most likely die of dehydration or starvation. Any being who has become affected by SCP-XXXX will be designated SCP-XXXX-ϴ (Theta).

Attempts to take care of the needs of SCP-XXXX-ϴ have been marginally successful but it is considered not worth it to The Facility to accommodate SCP-XXXX-ϴ due to the large amount of resources required. Testing had shown that attempts to drown out the ticking produced by SCP-XXXX using white noise of a higher decibel than the ticking produced by SCP-XXXX does work. It is currently unknown what gives SCP-XXXX its anomalous properties.

SCP-XXXX was discovered in room 427 of The Living Heights apartment complex at ██ ████ ██████ Columbus Ohio. Calls to poison control were made by residents after an after the deaths of 13 residents, seven members of the staff, three dogs, and one bird died from the effects of SCP-XXXX. All were found to have died from dehydration or starvation. The five Containment Specialists assigned to retrieve SCP-XXXX and the four scientists that were assigned to design the special containment procedures later died due to the affects of SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX was owned by Richard Williams, the resident of room 427, who is deaf. Records show that SCP-XXXX was sold through 18 estate sales after the previous owners had died due to the affect of SCP-XXXX. There are no records of owners of SCP-XXXX before the estate sale of Martin Tannin in 1934.
