Special containment procedures: SCP-5753 is to be kept inside of an air-tight greenhouse room with access to ample sunlight. It is to be placed in loam soil with a pH level of 9. Ratoon-18; The anomaly is to be watered every week, fertilized every month by any personnel, and is to be placed inside of a new pot at least once a year. After extensive testing SCP-5753 can be contained with other anomalies without issue.
Description: SCP-5753 appears to be a member of the Nelumbo nucifera, an aquatic flower. However, it prefers to grow on solid loam soil rather than on the water. Rather than normal Nelumbo nucifera, also known more commonly as the sacred lotus, a large-flowered lotus that typically grows 8-15cm tall in shallow water and spreads by thickened rhizomes rooted in mud. The item has thick, translucent petals that emit a purple, bio-luminescent light.
SCP-5753 was obtained by SCP personnel after it was obtained from locals in the United States in Elkhart, Indiana. Locals had reported foul smells emanating from an abandoned structure. HAZMAT was called in to investigate the source. An embedded foundation agent notified the foundation when SCP-5753 was discovered. A deceased male had been found near the item, covered in what had appeared to be small, brown, plastic plants. The HAZMAT team was pulled out under the impression of radioactive material in the area.
When SCP-5753 is maintained according to Ratoon-18's standard botany procedures it will give off the aroma that is the person's favorite smell. If placed in outside air SCP-5753 will emit its aroma for 25 meters. However, if SCP-5753 is not taken care of in accordance with Ratoon-18, it will have an adverse effect. Emitting a stench that the person finds the most repulsive and will continue to emit in a 50-meter radius and will continue to grow in size by half a meter every half hour until the anomaly gets its proper requirements. Once its requirement is fulfilled then this effect will reset. When the anomaly perceives an entity with the intent to harm SCP-5753 it will unleash a mist of spores that will land and immediately begin to sprout an instance on whatever the instance lands on, including human tissues. If the instance is unable to find suitable soil and nutrients then it will expire within an hour of landing, however, the original instance of SCP-5753 will not expire like the separate instances.
