Sepcial Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be housed in a 0.3m x 0.15m x 1.1m container composed of stainless steel (Type 304) with a 0.25m x 1.1m glass panel set in the outermost facing side. SCP-XXXX should be rested on two Type 304 steel mounts, spaced to hold XXXX from between the beard and lug of the axe head (1st location) and from approximately 0.05m above the swell knob (2nd location).
All personnel authorised to handle XXXX are advised to follow URC-Alpha-X-ray-Echo1 before commencing contact with XXXX. Any person disregarding this advice without explicit instruction from a superior forfeits the right to request a standard doasge of █████████ or similar sedative upon SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifesting.
(Note: Several unconfirmed reports from subjects exposed to XXXX in the past detailing visions of SCP-XXXX-1 experienced after contact with XXXX ceased have been documented and processed. "Post-partum" containment measures are under revision, and all individuals exposed to XXXX are to be kept under close observation. If visions persist, request immedient assistance and detention.)
Description: SCP-XXXX is a █████████ ████████ ███████ axe, weighing 2.2kg and aprroximately 90cm (0.9m) in length, including the handle. XXXX was recovered from the home of ████████ ████, in ████████, Canada, in ███5. Preceding the apprehension of XXXX, reports of howling, barking and missing people were submitted to the local police department, and shortly afterwards 8(eight) bodies were recovered from the [REDACTED] woodlands. MTF Uniform-1 "Sleepwalkers" embedded in the local law enforcement body became involved when the mutilated bodies of 3(three) police officers assigned to the case, and delivered amnestics to all persons involved before quarantining the woodland area under the front of the ██████ ██████████ And Sons Logging Company. Upon further examination of XXXX, Researcher ████ Nester has concluded that the item itself has no special properties when not held by a human2. SCP-XXXX can be damaged from most conventional methods, as is evident from several chips, scratches and rust pits obtained both before and after acquisition, however steps are being takes to prevent further damage as it is unknown if XXXX's anomalous properties will be retained if the wooden handle is replaced, for example.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous characteristics manifest when held for approximately 5 seconds. After this length of time has elapsed, the subject, henceforth designated S-1, will begin to experience an intense burning pain beginning at the collar and elbows, which spreads slowly across the whole torso. At this point S-1 will generally complain of an itchiness in the aforementioned area, which signals the second stage. Within 3-4 seconds of the start of the itch, the skin of S-1's chest will begin to discolour, growing redder with regular dark blotches. The texture of the skin also changes, growing looser and becoming, for want of a better term, "flannel-like".
Once this mutation is complete, a similar process occurs in S-1's legs: burning pain, itchiness, discolouration (dark blue in this case) and a loosening and toughening of the skin, reaching the approximate texture of denim. This marks the end of the transformation. It should be noted that this change is permenant. A new layer of skin is formed under the transformed skin. For all intents and purposes, the mutated skin is now chemically and physically identical to a red flannel shirt and a pair of jeans. There appears to be no permenant damage from the process, excluding psychological damage from the sensation of essentially shedding ones skin. The "shirt" and "jeans" can be freely removed, however it is unwise to do so while maintaining contact with XXXX3
Soon after the process of mutation is complete, which can range anywhere between 3(three) and 15(fifteen) minutes, S-1 will begin to hallucinate. The sensory disturbances S-1 reportedly experiences follow the same pattern - howling (reportedly from a wolf), visions of SCP-XXXX-1 and an overwhelming smell of Pseudotsuga menziesii. Soon after these visions commence, S-1 will become paranoid and grow distressed. From here, the results vary and individual tests are listed below

Subject began to exclaim loudly of four wolves circling him, and proceeded to back away from the D-class. D-███ approached the subject, without prompting from Researcher Nester, causing subject to lash out with XXXX. Swing missed D-███ by a significant distance. Subject swung again, striking D-███ just above the shoulder with little force, causing slight but not severe damage. D-███ became enraged and assaulted the subject before attempting to wrest XXXX from the subjects grip. D-███ began to experience XXXX's anomalous effects, and is terminated. Subject accidently terminated during the struggle. XXXX removed and returned to containment. |
