SCP-XXXX Nyarlathotep

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:SCP-XXXX is to be placed a 5m x 5m bare concrete cell with minimal amenities. It is to under remote video and audio surveillance and is to be monitored constantly. Containment is to be guarded by an on site security officer at all times. Security is to report and retrieve any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 found in the cell of SCP-XXXX to Dr Alexander Milz for analysis and testing. SCP-XXXX Does not require any food, water or sustenance of any kind.
Updated Special Containment Procedures: Following Containment breach the following updates to containment have been made(see Incident Log 1.0) Two on site security officers must be present at all times. Any Security staff assigned to SCP-XXXX must first meet with it, any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 received are to be confiscated, and the staff receiving the instance is to be transferred immediately. These officers must not interact with SCP-XXXX under any circumstance under threat of severe penalties. On site personnel must corroborate the current status of SCP-XXXX and its containment every 24 hours with remote surveillance team to ensure that equipment is still fully functional.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a humanoid entity, 6.4 meters in height, with the appearance of a human male of vaguely mediterranean descent. In spite of its appearance, SCP-XXXX does not display human physiology. X-ray imaging shows that its organs are distinct from any known species, with secondary X-ray imaging indicating that said organs are not static and, in fact, are perpetually changing and reshaping. This process does not appear to negatively affect SCP-XXXX in any way. SCP-XXXX does not require rest or sustenance of any form and, furthermore, it either cannot sleep or eat, or simply does not wish to do so. In containment SCP-XXXX will display a number of behaviours that indicate it is waiting for a new subject to provide an SCP-XXXX-1 instance with. It has been observed tapping on its flank with it hands, pacing and sitting motionless for extended periods of time.

SCP-XXXX has shown to be fluent in a number of languages including; English, Arabic, Greek, Russian, French, Italian, and a number of African languages. Interesting to note, it also can speak a number of dead languages including ancient Greek, Egyptian, Sumerian, Norse and Latin. SCP responds to questioning, and appears eager to do so. SCP-XXXX displays this eagerness with individuals it does not intend to give an SCP-XXXX-1 to, however it is far more talkative with those who it does. SCP-XXXX displays many of the characteristics of antisocial personality disorder such as a complete lack of remorse, manipulative behaviour and glib affect.

SCP-XXXX was detained in [REDACTED] Egypt, on [REDACTED] after imbedded Foundation agents were tipped off to reports of an individual providing local populations with instances of SCP-XXXX-1. Upon investigation agents found that residents of [REDACTED] towns in the area had been visited by SCP-XXXX, who they referred to as “a merchant” or “the messenger”. SCP-XXXX would provide an SCP-XXXX-1 to between 3 and 10 people in a particular village during a demonstration of other instances. It would be gone by the morning, appearing in another town a few days to a month later, in another town within 30 km. Distance between appearances and time between appearances do not seem to be correlated.

An instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is an object presumed to be created by SCP-XXXX. Each instance looks and behaves differently, with most performing some anomalous function, which the recipient usually considers to be beneficial or miraculous. In all observed and recorded cases this function ultimately causes the recipient a considerable amount of mental stress, which often results in the subject injuring, or fatally wounding, themselves, or others. In some cases the item disappears after use. A list of confirmed SCP-XXXX-1 instances can be found in Addendum:1. All items, still in existence and retrieved by the Foundation, are currently under analysis and pending their own SCP classification.

Experimentation suggests that SCP-XXXX selects subjects who; are particularly susceptible suggestion, have some form of mental illness, are prone to violence or suicidal ideation, and have weak memetic resistance. Researchers believe this means that SCP-XXXX actively chooses subjects who will be adversely affected by the anomalous properties of the SCP-XXXX-1 they recieve.

SCP-XXXX produces an item, seemingly out of nothing, when handing it to a subject. live recording of this event shows the SCP-XXXX-1 instance appear when SPC-XXXX raises its hand to give it to a subject. However subsequent viewing of this recording shows SCP-XXXX with the SCP-XXXX-1 instance in its possession for some time beforehand, with a point at which the it appears being indiscernible.

Incident report:1 On [REDACTED], approximately 35 hours after initial containment. SCP-XXXX Breached containment and has not been sighted since.
At 2145 hours SCP-XXXX was seen by the door of its cell. Interrogation of Security officer Nicholas De Souza found that at this time SCP-XXXX was speaking to De Souza through the cell door and offered him an instance SCP-XXXX-1. According to De Souza, he was promised an item that would solve a relational issue pertinent to officer De Souza. SCP-XXXX did not disclose to Officer De Souza what the item was. Footage shows De Souza open the cell door and receive an SCP-XXXX-1 instance from SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX moves out of the cell and out of view of surveillance equipment, and does not appear again on any facility security footage.

De Souza was located outside SCP-XXXX’s containment trying to open a small security box, his fingers were bloodied and he had torn off two nails in his attempts to pry the box open. De Souza aggressively resisted efforts by staff to retrieve the box from his possession and was sedated.

Addendum:1 A List of suspected instances of SCP-XXXX-1 provided by SCP-XXXX:
SCP-XXXX-1a: A piece of clear ceramic material, recipient claims that it displayed text in a fashion similar to current holographic screen technology, however with no apparent projector. The text presented was allegedly the thoughts of people in the vicinity. Recipient was arrested after the murder of [REDACTED] civilians in [REDACTED], Tunisia, alleging that the civilians “thought he was crazy”. SCP-XXXX-1a shattered in the attack and shows no sign of anomalous properties.
SCP-XXXX-1b: A small disc shaped device with hundreds of intricate pieces in a similar fashion to a watch. Item was mentioned in the suicide note of one Sefa Onut who died in [REDACTED], Istanbul. The note mentions a traveling merchant, who matches the description of SCP-XXXX, who gave him the item a day prior. The item allegedly provided insight into the outcome of specific events, prioritising those with negative outcomes. The item was not found at the scene, however photographic evidence of SCP-XXXX-1b was found, as well, family of the deceased corroborated the account and had seen it function. Amnestics were administered and an appropriate cover story fabricated.
SCP-XXXX-1e:An envelope containing a piece of parchment with an impossibly accurate representation of an N-Dimensional hypercube, believed to have 13 dimensions of space accurately represented. This envelope was given by SCP-XXXX to interviewer, Dr Mason Blume, who opened it upon returning to his office. Dr Blume became wholly transfixed on the image on the parchment to such a capacity that he refused to eat, drink or sleep. Dr Blume expired after 7 days of malnutrition and exhaustion having barricaded himself in his room with all available furniture. The envelope and parchment was recovered 2 days later when equipment for breaching the adjacent wall arrived on site.
Researchers are currently debating whether or not SCP-XXXX-1b and the image have any anomalous properties, or if a similarly seemingly impossible image can be constructed through mundane means.
SCP-XXXX-1h: A small black piece of metal in the shape of a security box measuring 10 cm by 6cm. No discernable abnormality. An Obsessive compulsion led a Foundation security officer to self mutilate in an attempt to pry it open, in spite of this being impossible.
SCP-XXXX-1i: A gun that is both invisible, and intangible to all people excluding Detective Alex Gabris. SCP-XXXX-1i given to Mr. Gabris SCP-XXXX under the pretense that it was the “smoking gun” in a homicide investigation. It’s nature was discovered when the item was presented as evidence. Numerous attempts to have SCP-XXXX-1i submitted as evidence and an altercation with superiors led to the dismissal of Mr. Gabris, who then killed 3 and wounded 5 using SCP-XXXX-1i. Mr. Gabris and SCP-XXXX-1i were apprehended in Athens, Greece and taken into Foundation custody and .
[REDACTED] other items retrieved, whole or damaged, have been directly linked to SCP-XXXX. Estimates suggest half of these have been collected by the Global Occult Coalition, however sources have determined they have not suspected a common origin.

Addendum:2 It was initially hypothesised by Dr Milz that SCP-XXXX-1 instances were cognitohazardous, due to the consistent and intense mental reactions when the recipient is exposed to the item. However continued analysis of SCP-XXXX-1’s and their recipients suggests that, instead, SCP-XXXX-1 instances are tailored to trigger specific mental and emotional weaknesses in the recipient which in turn causes these faculties to break down. How SCP-XXXX knows that an item will trigger this response is still under investigation.

Addendum:3 Evidence compiled by embedded personnel in LEVEL 3 CLEARANCE indicates the presence of SCP-XXXX in the vicinity. Mobile Task Force Gamma-13 (“Asimov’s Lawbringers”) Have been Dispatched to locate and contain SCP-XXXX, and any SCP-XXXX-1 instances it has created after breaching containment.
