Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is by it's nature uncontainable, and manifestations of SCP-XXXX are at this time unpredictable despite the successful neutralization of object O-XXXX-Mankana by MTF Epsilon-6. In response to this, MTF Gamma-5 has been employed to monitor social media sites and paranormal forums to search for, debunk, and if necessary, remove any sightings confirmed to be that of SCP-XXXX. Any supposed sightings of SCP-XXXX are to be investigated and assessed to whether they fit the Kronecker criteria and thus are legitimate sightings of SCP-XXXX.
In the event of a confirmed in-person sighting of SCP-XXXX, the individual is to be administered Class-B or Class-C amnestics depending on the time elapsed since the sighting. Any recording devices that individual may possess, such as a camera or smartphone, are to be temporarily confiscated and contents searched for recordings of SCP-XXXX which, if found, are to be retrieved and deleted from the device.
Due to the close proximity of O-XXXX-Mankana to the town of Tracuateua, Pará, Brazil, the Foundation is to maintain a constant security presence (designated Site-141-T) in and around the nearby quarry in which O-XXXX-Mankana is located. Foundation presence is to be operated under the guise of the Brazilian Department of Mines and Energy, with the purpose of investigating potential oil well drilling sites.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is the designation of any entity which fits the Kronecker criteria, which is given as follows:
- Is a ghost-like apparition taking on the form of a recently deceased individual local to the area.
- Manifests in or around burial sites where the individual was buried.
- Area of manifestation lies close to the lines given by 1° 4'3.48"S, 46°55'42.32"W bearing 305 and bearing 035 (see Figure 1).
Manifestations of SCP-XXXX usually take place between dusk and dawn, with the mean time of appearance being 2:43 AM and last for 15 minutes on average. Currently, there have been no reported hostile interactions between any individual or SCP-XXXX. However witnessing an instance of SCP-XXXX can induce feelings of panic, fright and disbelief for a short period of time. Furthermore, once materialised, SCP-XXXX seems ambivalent of it's surroundings and will drift through the air as if carried by a small breeze regardless of the current wind conditions. Instances do not stray far from their initial point of materialisation, with the approximate average net distance travelled being just 10 metres.
Discovery:
The Foundation was alerted to the presence of SCP-XXXX after a post on 4chan's 'Paranormal' board linked to a video depicting high-quality security camera footage of SCP-XXXX. The high quality of this obtained footage prompted The Foundation to investigate, and using metadata stored on the video file discovered the video was recorded in the town of Raymondville, TX. After insertion of MTF Epsilon-6, no trace of SCP-XXXX was found. The individual who had uploaded the video was found and interviewed by MTF Epsilon-6, he identified himself as ██████████, a US Navy veteran. He told Foundation personnel that the footage was obtained from his CCTV camera which overlooked the cemetery across the road where the ghost-like figure appeared.
Following this, the footage was confiscated and the individual amnesticized per Foundation protocol. Following further analysis of the footage by Dr Kronecker, he recommended the Foundation adopt a 'wait and see' approach in an effort to determine if any more instances of SCP-XXXX (then designated NAO-200829A) could materialise. Over the course of 142 days, there were a total of 41 sightings deduced to be that of SCP-XXXX. Plotting the location of these sightings on a global map showed that the sightings correlated along two orthogonal lines which, if extrapolated, intersected in the Northern Region of Brazil.
Using these sightings, a consistent profile of SCP-XXXX was built, resulting in the Kronecker criteria.
Addendum:
Upon the establishment of the Kronecker criteria, SCP-LEOSAT-4151 reconnaissance satellite was utilized to image a 1,100 km² region of Northern Brazil where the two orthogonal lines roughly intersect. Using 56 images taken over a 4 week period, a POI was identified in a supposed abandoned quarry located approx. 3km. North-West of the town of Tracuateua, Palá, Brazil. Multiple HGVs had been sighted moving in and out of the quarry, with the vehicles moving between the quarry and the city of Bragança.
Following this discovery, the Foundation authorised a joint task force to insert and investigate the area. The JTF composed of MTF Epsilon-6 and MTF Zeta-9. The report of the JTF can be found below.
