Seeking Greenlights: Yes

Page Type: SCP Article

Elevator Pitch: A sign reading "what happens at the cabin stays at the cabin" that causes all events in the structure it is hung in to have no physical consequences outside of the structure. Peoples memories persist but that is all. This includes minor things like overeating to major things like murder being undone upon exit from the signs area of influence. What it doesn't erase is memory, trauma, and strange effects on time. People may have phantom pains of any injuries sustained in the area of effect as well.

Central Narrative: May include interviews with a family who bought the cabin with the sign. What starts as a relatively benign influence, "we can totally stay up all night and watch horror movies without being tired tomorrow" to finding out accidents can be undone, "That cut on my finger healed so fast" to eventually worse.

Hook/Attention-Grabber: Many people have been on family vacations to a cabin or old bed and breakfast that has a similar sign. Vacations often feel like another world. Like what happened then has no bearing on the now. What if it didn't. At least directly. That sense of otherworldly dream state is what I want to grab people attention with.

Thoughts on narrative option
*Told through interview with surviving friend/the hermit and possibly scattered nearly incoherent interviews with another friend who was dead for a long time
*Friends at cabin experience strange events. Starts by partying hard with few consequences.
*That was some decades ago. (each time the friends left the cabin the physical effects of aging undid)
*One of them was severely injured/died in a drunken accident but when they remove him to take to the hospital they resurrect
*This terrifies at first yet makes some realize that leaving the cabin is not ideal.
*Person who died is terrified that leaving will have actual consequences so refuses to.
*Eventually kills the friends who try and leave "to protect them"
*Each reset people seem to go a little crazier as their perceptions and memories now demonstrably do not match with reality often in severe ways
*The foundation finds the cabin when reports of an ageless hermit surface in the area
*Taken into custody carefully without "waking" any of the dead
*possibly first "waking" one accidentally by removing them from the area.
*causes severe mental anguish at time passed and possible imperfect reconstruction of highly rotted brain matter.

Thoughts on test options
*Test on D class personnel who are told to perform certain tasks under the influence of the sign
*Recordings are difficult or impossible to make as an media seems to alter when it leaves the area of influence
*ie a video is recorded in the zone and shows a test subject completing a puzzle. When the video is viewed in the zone. When removed from the zone the video shows the subject sitting and staring at the puzzle.
*Tests on how large the area can be
*as the structure the sign is in is increased the area seems to grow to fill any space that could be considered a single habitation.
*Putting it in smaller boxes does not diminish the effect rather it still fills the space the box is in up to a single habitation.
