Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a biological containment unit at site-██. Level 2 and 3 personnel are allowed access to the object as well as a small supply of class D's for testing. Janitorial staff are required to clean the room SCP-XXXX is kept in once a week and are to enter the containment unit using standard, full body biological hazard suits. All personnel entering then exiting the object's containment room are subject to mandatory quarantine for a total of eight (8) hours. All personnel working on site are to have been vaccinated, quarantine deemed unnecessary.

In case of containment breach all level 2 personnel and above are required to evacuate imediately. MTF Beta-7 ("Maz Hatters") are responsible for re-containment of SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a bio-hazardous ██████ brand spray paint can found in ███ ██████, Iowa on July 27, 20██. ███ deaths were reported by police due to inhalation of spray paint before foundation personnel in the area were sent to investigate. Personnel recovered the object and was brought to the nearest site for investigation.

When paint from the can, designated SCP-XXXX-1, is touched by or sprayed near an organism it will contract a virus designated as SCP-XXXX-2. If the paint is applied to any surface and allowed to dry it will become harmless in approximately fifteen (15) hours. If paint fumes are inhaled or if paint is touched before minimum drying time then subjects will become infected. If an organism comes within two (2) meters of the object unobstructed by walls or other objects it will discharge a spray of paint towards the subject and will cease spray after causing infection. Most human subjects will experience an urge to use SCP-XXXX to vandalize any surface in range with a large amount of people nearby, most likely to spread disease more efficiently. If no creature comes within unobstructed range of SCP-XXXX for up to one (1) hour then the can will leak paint from the nozzle.
Note - no lid found on scene

Symptoms

  • Multicolored rashes on point(s) of contact which later spread (contagious surface)
  • Coughing up a mix of blood and spray paint (contagious fluid)
  • Irritated throat
  • Eye whites become blue, green, or orange depending on stage of infection
  • Facial orifices leak combination of blood and spray paint (contagious fluid)

Stages of Infection (8 hours)
The first stage of the infection consists mainly of light coughing, irritated throat, and light rashes. Lasts one (1) hour. 2% chance to cease infection.

Second stage progresses to heavy coughing, irritated throat, eye whites becoming light blue, leaking facial orifices, and heavy rashes. Lasts one (1) hour. 2% chance to cease infection.

Third stage dampens all conditions while turning eye whites green, infected experiences four (4) hour of relief before possibly advancing to final stage. During this stage subject is unable to spread disease and virus is thought to be in a state of incubation. 6% chance to cease infection.

Fourth and final stage develops all symptoms to great extremes causing subject severe discomfort and maximum level of contagiousness, eye whites become orange. Lasts two (2) hours. 1% chance to cease infection.

Death caused by acetone, xylene, and toluene poisoning along with other, less prominent chemicals found in spray paint. The lungs are completely filled with spray paint not allowing subjects to breathe.
