Photo of Metropolitan Correctional Center inmate 71638-054

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: IDK yet

Special Containment Procedures: A hard drive copy of SCP XXXX is kept in a safe in cell Y within site Z. Due to the potential political ramifications of SCP XXXX, moles within the GOC, GRU division P, Gamers Against Weed, and the FBI Unusual Incidents Unit are instructed to inform the O5 council if any of the previous GOIs obtain a copy of SCP XXXX.

Description: SCP XXXX is a set of footage feeds from two surveillance cameras inside Special Housing Unit 9 South of the New York Metropolitan Correctional Center, where inmate 71638-0541 was being held prior to his death. The footage was recorded between 1:30 AM and 5:30 AM on August 10th. The footage displays highly antimemetic properties. Individuals that attempt to watch SCP XXXX become incapable of focusing on the footage, making it virtually imperceptible. If an individual manages to focus on the footage, they will forget what they saw if they try to communicate the events in the recordings through any medium2. If the individual does not try to communicate the events recorded in SCP-XXXX, they will forget what they saw after a few minutes. These antimemetic properties appear to become significantly stronger beginning at timestamp 4:44 AM. Although the time frame of the recordings suggests that the footage depicts inmate 71638-054’s death, the highly antimemetic properties of the footage prevents researchers from determining what occurred in 9 South between 1:30 AM and 5:30 AM. An investigation to determine the contents of SCP XXXX through the use of mnestics is being carried out by senior researcher Dr. Johannes Sorts. In previous experiments, D-class personnel given W, X, and Y class mnestics were rarely able to perceive the contents of SCP XXXX, and never able to communicate what they had seen to foundation staff before forgetting. The use of class Z mnestics3 on D-class personnel is currently pending authorization from the Ethics Committee being carried out following authorization from the Ethics Committee (See Document #X-01). The results of testing with Z class mnestics are detailed in Document #X-02.

Document #XXXX-01:
The following document is a an email authorizing the use of Z class mnestics:

It is the unanimous opinion of the Ethics Committee that the potential benefits of determining the contents of SCP XXXX outweigh the ethical concerns of exposing D-class personnel to Z class mnestics. We hereby authorize the use of Z class mnestics on up to 12 D-class personnel in future experiments. At the end of testing, a complete research report is to be sent to the O5 Council.

~ The Ethics Committee

Document #XXXX-02:

Overseers,

Our team carried out identical experiments on 12 D-class personnel, although only the final subject lived long enough to yield useful information. A description of that experiment as well as a transcript is provided (see experiment #XXXX-L).
