Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently held at Bio-site 66 within Flora Containment Cell 2-B and is to be fed 3 times a day on a daily basis. SCP-XXXX must be trimmed once a fortnight and should have a constant measurement of 7000 Lumens emitted on itself via floodlight at all times.
Any behavioural and/or growth pattern changes to SCP-XXXX must be immediately recorded and in this event it must be constantly monitored over a 48-hour period, in the event that SCP-XXXX is aggravated or distressed in any way the overhead water sprinklers must be activated for a 10-minute period. Diet should consist of a carcass of any mammal (typically pigs/cows are preferred), weighing around 60kg for its first meal of the day (from 7 AM-10 AM), 100kg at noon, and around 140kg at night.
Entering the containment cell of SCP-XXXX is strictly forbidden unless delivering supplies/performing maintenance on containment systems or trimming its branches, only authorized to Level 3+ Personnel who are required to wear a lightweight hazard suit and be accompanied by 2 armed security personnel at all times. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are to be terminated immediately. Flora inside the cell is to not be touched in any way under any circumstances.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears as a regular Quercus Robur tree, it seems to be fully grown and shows no further signs of ageing, it doesn't appear to match the typical life cycle of a Q. Robur tree and, in fact, has proven to be somewhat sentient. The tree was securely transferred to Bio-site 66 via MTF Theta-4 "Gardeners", where it has remained since.
Occasionally, SCP-XXXX releases the carcasses of any animal it had consumed prior, now reanimated through currently unknown processes, their bodies take on a grey-ish color, and appear to have lost most brain functions. These are designated at SCP-XXXX-1 and must be terminated at the current time until a separate containment cell can be built for in-depth research on SCP-XXXX-1. Current autopsies on the bodies of the terminated SCP-XXXX-1 instances have revealed that they seem to have a circulatory system consisting of tree sap for blood, and do not appear to have any form of digestive system, making it plausible that SCP-XXXX-1 hunts for SCP-XXXX and not for itself.
SCP-XXXX requires food to survive, a downside to this is that the more it eats, the more of SCP-XXXX-1 it can produce, and the less it eats, the more agitated it grows, leading it to act more hostile, making containment more difficult, Signs of SCP-XXXX aggravation may include small tremors in the ground, branches stiffening up and increased leaf/branch growth rate. When SCP-XXXX is provided what it needs, it is otherwise quite dormant and even tends to have sleeping periods, these are not long however, lasting only 3 and a half hours each. This time is usually taken to an advantage when SCP-XXXX needs to be trimmed.
SCP-XXXX requires trimming as overgrowth also causes it to grow uncomfortable, it tends to grow at a super-fast rate compared to other trees and grows back its branches once cut, similar to human hair. SCP-XXXX "eats" by dragging any organism on its territory down into the ground via currently unknown means, it most likely alters the organism that it captures slowly and painfully if it is alive, presumably inserting chemicals into the body to paralyse it as the body is withdrawn of its essential minerals and nutrients for SCP-XXXX itself while it uses the energy it has gained from the body for SCP-XXXX-1 to be created. During this process, flora around the area will grow, this can range from sunflowers and poppies to roses and even clovers, it appears that SCP-XXXX uses these florae to sense for prey, and must not be touched under any circumstance.
