Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held within a standard, sound-proof humanoid containment cell at Site-17.
SCP-XXXX may request additional items, all of which must be approved by a staff member with Level 3 clearance or higher. Any items that contain language of any kind (audio, video, or text) are to be thoroughly analyzed to make sure they do not contain any requests towards SCP-XXXX before approval. Communication with SCP-XXX is to be kept to a minimum, and only allowed for experimentation purposes, strictly following a script approved by a Level 3 or higher personnel.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a Caucasian male with short black hair and green eyes, approximately 30 years of age. It weighs 81 kg1 and stands 1.83 meters tall23. It communicates exclusively in English and does not show the ability to understand any other language.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifest when any humanoid entity forms a request towards it. This request can be expressed verbally, through writing, or visually (e.g. sign language, lip-reading). Immediately upon observing the request, SCP-XXXX will die. The death appears to always be related to the request, as it will often involve bodily damage to SCP-XXXX that would render it impossible to complete the request (see Experiment Log XXXX). Despite SCP-XXXX's lack of understanding of languages other than English, it's anomalous effects trigger when it observers a request in any spoken, written, or shown language. After death, SCP-XXXX will re-appear, alive, in the same room it had died. This re-appearance takes a different amount of time, believed to be directly related to how "extreme" the death was, with longer pauses for more extreme deaths, but will always be less than 24 hours. Medical testing shows that SCP-XXXX is in perfect health conditions after it's "revival". Any signs of it's death (e.g. bodily remains, blood) will vanish instantaneously upon it's re-appearance. While it retains memory of the past, including that of events directly prior to it's death, SCP-XXXX states it does not recall any deaths that have occurred to it.
SCP-XXXX's was discovered after foundation personnel were alerted to several similar police reports in the town of ████████, ████. Specifically, what all of these reports had in common is witness testimonies of seeing SCP-XXXX die, however at different times and locations. Initially reported by a number of ████████ citizens, an investigation officer by the name of S█████ ████ would later find SCP-XXXX alive and acting oblivious to anything dangerous previously happening to it. Mr. S█████ later stated seeing SCP-XXXX die in front of them. When asked, Mr. S█████ described the event as "His legs just fucking exploded dude…"4 and would not provide any additional useful information. Class - A amnestics were administered to all civilians exposed to SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX willingly allowed itself into foundation custody. It's effects were initially observed in an interview with Dr. K███████:
Interview XXXX-1:
<Begin Log, ██:██>
Dr. K███████: Hello XXXX. I am Dr. K███████. I would like to ask you a number of questions.
SCP-XXXX: Hello doctor. Yeah, go ahead.
Dr. K███████: Firstly, please state your name.
SCP-XXXX starts violently coughing and chocking for 6 seconds, before developing profuse hemoptysis. Dr. K███████ immediately requests medical staff to the interview room. In 30 seconds SCP-XXXX loses an estimated 1 Liter (34 oz) of blood, before collapsing. Upon immediate assessment, medical staff ruled SCP-XXXX to be expired, and attempts to resuscitate the subject proved unsuccessful.
<End Log, ██:██>
Note A: Postmortem analysis shows that SCP-XXXX's throat was completely shredded, the damage continuing down the trachea and all the way to the lungs. Most damage was caused to SCP-XXXX's vocal chords, second most to the lungs.
Note B: Dr. K███████ was sent for psychological evaluation and therapy following the events.
Note C: Video footage of the interview room shows SCP-XXXX re-appearing exactly 02:24:13 hours after the incident, appearing confused and calling out for Dr. K███████. Any traces of SCP-XXXX's previously dead body immediately disappear at this moment, including those under autopsy. Staff were notified, and at the directions of Dr. R█████, took SCP-XXXX into a humanoid containment cell.
Upon reviewing the footage, Dr. R█████ conducted an interview which loosely followed a script with no direct requests towards SCP-XXXX:
Interview XXXX-2:
<Begin Log>
Dr. R█████: Greetings XXXX. My name is Dr. R█████.
SCP-XXXX: Hello Doctor. Uh, what happened to the last interview? The other Doctor, uh, K███████ was it? He just suddenly disappeared from the room.
Dr. R█████: Disappeared?
SCP-XXXX: Yeah, he asked me my name and then suddenly vanished?
Dr. R█████: Is that the the only thing you remember from that interview?
SCP-XXXX: Uh… yeah, he disappeared, and I remember calling out for him cause I didn't know where he went. Then you and some other guys showed up and took me to a room.
Dr. R█████: I see. In that case, let's say we ran into some technical difficulties with interviewing you. Now, I'm afraid I won't be able to answer any more questions. I am to follow a strict script.
SCP-XXXX: Ok.
Dr. R█████: Do you have a name, XXXX?
SCP-XXXX: Yea, Michael ████ ███████. You can call me Mike if you want. Something tells me you are gonna keep calling me XXXX though.
Dr. R█████: I'm afraid so. Are you aware of your anomalous properties, XXXX?
SCP-XXXX: Anomalous properties?
Dr. R█████: Yes. Things that you are able to do that are out of the ordinary. Unnatural, even.
SCP-XXXX: Uh, I can juggle really fast but I don't think that's what you're talking about.
Dr. R█████: Quite right. Are you aware of your deaths, XXXX?
SCP-XXXX: Plural?
Dr. R█████: Yes.
SCP-XXXX: I'm aware of death. Like of my own mortality and stuff. We're all gonna die someday, you know. But I don't understand what you mean by "deaths".
SCP-XXXX: But, that cop said something similar. People reported seeing me die? I'm very much alive, though, as you can see.
SCP-XXXX gestured towards himself
SCP-XXXX: I thought you guys might know what's going on. You looked it anyway, so I came along. So uh, what is going on, doc?
Dr. R█████: I see. Well, XXXX, you die when someone makes a request towards you.
SCP-XXXX: Die? Like, die-die?
Dr. R█████: Yes. Our medical team announced you dead. Then you come back a while after with no memories of the incident.
SCP-XXXX: But other people remember?
Dr. R█████: Yes.
SCP-XXXX: Wait so the other doctor…he didn't just disappear, did he?
Dr. R█████: I'm afraid not.
SCP-XXXX: Oh god.
// 16 Second of silence.//
Dr. R█████: I think we can end the interview here.
<End Log>
Note: Well, he deserved to know, and we learned he retains no memory and sees no trace of his own death. It would be good to experiment on whether the request has to be verbal, and what even constitutes a "request". - Dr. R█████
Experiment Log XXXX-1:
Date: ██-██-██
Procedure: D-12558 handed SCP-XXXX a piece of paper with the text "Please raise your hand." in English.
Result: After reading the text, both of SCP-XXXX's arms are severed and fall down on the floor. SCP-XXXX dies due to blood loss, which the medical team reported as being unable to slow down, regardless of pressure applied through a tourniquet or other means. Autopsy revealed a clean cut on the molecural level through the gelnohumeral joint. Furthermore, throughout the entire time before SCP-XXXX's revival, it's arms were deemed impossible to lift off the ground through any means attempted, including a 135-tonne automatic mechanical jack.
Note: Well, looks like writing also affects XXXX. Does that mean it died every time it saw a stop sign? How did it even get this far in life? -Dr. R█████
Date: ██-██-██
Procedure: SCP-XXXX was asked "Comment vas-tu?" (French: How are you?) directly prior to experiment and reported to not understand. When inquired whether it speaks French, XXXX states to not know any languages other than English.
SCP-XXXX is played a video clip with no audio, consisting of a person facing the camera and saying "S'il vous plaît commettre l'acte de ne pas voler." (French: "Please commit the act of not flying.").
Result: After observing the video, SCP-XXXX violently rises 1 m5 off the ground. His arms move to face backwards and up, breaking at the shoulders in the process. They then proceed to grow feathers akin to those of the species Tachymarptis melba, fully covering both arms within 20 seconds. SCP-XXXX reported to be expired due to heart failure. Moving SCP-XXXX while in the air was possible, however, it could not be placed less than 1 m6 above any surface.
After re-appearance, SCP-XXXX states to not understand the video, and showed signs of confusion at the experiment ending. Asking it "Comprenez-vous cette phrase?" (French: Do you understand this sentence?) is answered with "I really don't get it dude, I don't speak french.".
Note: Yeah, I'd be confused too. - Dr. R█████
Date: ██-██-██
Procedure: SCP-XXXX is played a video clip consisting of a person facing the camera and saying "Please commit the act of not doing any harm to yourself what so ever."
Result: After observing the video, SCP-XXXX instantly freezes. Tests reveal some signs of life, with blood pressure measuring exactly 90; EEG-measurements detect brain activity, showing Delta waves following a repeating pattern of going directly from 1Hz to 4Hz then back to 1Hz in exactly 1 second with no fluctuation. SCP-XXXX is then cut on it's left forearm with a knife, however, no bleeding is present and blood-flow appears to ignore the cut. Following this, SCP-XXXX's right hand is completely severed at the wrist. Once again, no bleeding is present, and blood flow continues through to the severed hand as if still attached.
Note: After re-appearance, SCP-XXXX asked Dr. R█████ if it succeeded. Dr. R█████ responded with "I guess you did."
