The Roundhay Garden Scene

SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the possibly uncontained nature of SCP-XXXX, the general public is kept unaware of SCP-XXXX's true nature. Currently, all known copies of SCP-XXXX in common circulation have been "sterilized," meaning all anomalous effects have been removed. If any civilians show signs that they have viewed an anomalous copy, Foundation personnel are to be dispatched in order to administer amnestics and ensure no other civilians have become aware of SCP-XXXX. For testing purposes, One anomalous copy of SCP-XXXX on 60 millimeter film is kept in Item Warehouse 4 at Site-54. No Kinetoscope or Kinetograph cameras are allowed near SCP-XXXX's containment location, in order to prevent accidental removal of anomalous effects.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the short-film "Roundhay Garden Scene," recorded by French inventor Louis Le Prince in October 1888. The short film consists of 54 frames, running at 12 frames/second, and lasting 1.6 seconds. In all anomalous copies, frame 34 of the film (hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) is replaced with what appears to be a primitive form of a memetic image agent, with the phrase "learn of my story, let it be known" written in French. Most copies of SCP-XXXX in standard circulation do not show SCP-XXXX-1, due to the fact that the earliest salvaged recording of SCP-XXXX was taken with a Kinetograph.

Any subject that views the entire film with the SCP-XXXX-1 frame, will instantly learn the events surrounding Louis Le Prince's dissapearance on September 16th, 1890. (See Incident Log XXXX-18-9) MRI scans have shown that the brain will show increased activity in the hippocampus, neo-cortex, and amygdala regions of the brain during this. These areas are registered to creating memories, meaning SCP-XXXX seems to create memories that don't differ from standard memory creation. SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects can be removed, via the use of either a Kinetograph or Kinetoscope. If a copy of SCP-XXXX containing SCP-XXXX-1 is recorded with a Kinetograph or Kinetoscope, it will be replaced with a standard, non-anomalous frame. This effect is studied on every copy tested, including remasters in High Definition or artistic depictions of the film.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered after an online conspiracy group known as the "Film Fact Seekers" was reported to have been posting sensitive Foundation information surrounding Louis Le Prince's dissapearance. After investigation revealed that a copy of SCP-XXXX containing the SCP-XXXX-1 frame was found on the group's website homepage, proper amnestic usage and containment was created for SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1.
