Subject: Analysis and exploitation of the parafictional and/or metafictional reality construct which contains the SCP Foundation as well as the superseding reality in which that construct exists.

Abstract: It has been determined that there is a 99.9999973% probability that the SCP Foundation, all anomalies it is aware of, and the baseline reality in which they are contained, is a work of collaborative fiction created in a superseding reality construct one level above what we perceive as our multiversal reality. The nature of our own reality, the nature of the body of fictional work it is contained in, and the nature of the superseding reality in which that fictional construct exists, can be exploited to further the Foundation’s goals in a way that significantly reduces the impact of any K class scenarios that occur in pursuit of those objectives.

Project Goals:

• To build a working model of the nature of the fictional construct that contains our reality.
• To determine our own ability to directly or indirectly influence that construct from within it.
• To improve containment and threat mitigation procedures based on that determination.
• To determine what information can be gleaned about the superseding reality based on our own records and the information available to us.
• To determine to what extent the Internet interacts with both realities and what information can be transmitted and received between them.

Project Limitations:

• Given the findings of Project Kronos, irreconcilable discrepancies between aspects of our existence and the documentation surrounding it are to be accepted at face value or attributed to total information suppression operations previously undertaken by the Foundation. Falsification of any documentation for these operations requires approval from an L5/PSTF supervisor as well as a PSTF certified RAISA liaison, and must not attempt a logical resolution of any apparent paradoxes.
• Attempts at retrocausal alteration of Foundation actions by modifying documentation are expressly forbidden without unanimous approval from the O5 council.
• Attempts to restore documentation that seems to have been fully erased from Foundation systems via anomalous methods (that cannot be attributed to the effects of anomalies documented before the initiation of Project Stranger Than Fiction) are expressly forbidden without unanimous approval of the O5 council.

Conclusions (ongoing): will be rewritten as a single "document" rather than a bulleted list

• Meta analysis of the timestamp data for all entries in the database indicate that a rough timeline (within the parameters established as safe by Project Kronos) based on when objects were entered into the database provides much a much more accurate baseline for analysis than any information pertaining to the actual time of discovery or containment. For example an anomaly contained in 1903 that was entered into the database on 1/1/2020 is to be considered “newer” than one contained in 2103 that was entered into the database on 1/1/2010.
• The trend in contained anomalies based on this analysis indicates that as the number of anomalies known to the Foundation increases, the average nature of these anomalies becomes significantly more “meta” and/or esoteric.
• The genre we occupy is (unsurprisingly) horror/science fiction, though divergence from these genres is not uncommon with the most frequent deviations being the fantasy genre and the magical realism genre.
• Our reality is fundamentally similar to the superseding reality in most mundane ways.
• There is no (nonfictional) analogue to the SCP Foundation in the superseding reality.
• Of all known anomalous GoIs the only groups verified to have analogues are the UIU and GRU-P. A greater than 50% chance exists that a version of ORIA and GAW exist, but with vastly different purviews and capabilities.
• The anomalies these groups deal with, as well as any unknown/uncontained anomalies, are significantly different than ours and the vast majority, if not all, would be considered Explained or at most Safe Class in our reality, though some would still fall under the veil protocol. This is currently inferred to mean that what qualifies as “barely anomalous” in our reality would be considered “extremely anomalous” in the superseding reality.
• The SCP Foundation database has a psychological effect on some individuals in the superseding reality who read and/or write significant amounts of information contained therein. These effects would be described as “non-anomalous cognitohazards” in our reality if such a designation existed.
• Due to the metafictional nature of the SCP Foundation Database in the superseding reality, alongside the collaborative nature of its authorship, aspects of the SCP Foundation are functionally "real" in the superseding reality due to their fixed position in that reality construct's zeitgeist. Furthermore, there does not appear to be an unredacted (or less redacted) copy of the expenditures report that details how this funding was allocated.  Experiment Log - Indirect Transfictional Neutralization of SCP-████

Goal: To neutralize SCP-████ by making it “boring” to those with access to the Database in the superseding reality.

Attempt 1: Redaction of all information not directly essential to containment.
Result: Database entry for SCP- ████ anomalously reverted within 72 hours. SCP object entered a partially inert state during this time, but anomalous effects that required no conscious action to maintain remained active.

Attempt 2: Deletion of recovery logs.
Result: Logs reappeared in the database after 24 hours via anomalous means. Possible mild lethargy noted in anomaly during this time.

Conclusion: Some transfictional effects noted, experiment failed to meet stated goals.

 Experiment Log - Indirect Transfictional Neutralization of AO-███████

Goal: To neutralize an anomalous object by making it sufficiently “boring” to those with access to the Database in the superseding reality as to cause the AO not to merit classification.

Attempt 1: Vague language relating to the object’s provenance is used and descriptions of its anomalous properties are written in extremely dry scientific terms.
Result: Additional, conflicting, information appears as appendices to the initial report. Additional information is verified as accurate by the object’s recovery team. Suggested Containment Class upgraded to Euclid based on additional information.

Attempt 2: Nature of death redacted for all casualties related to appended incident reports.
Result: Redactions remain, however additional information implying the nature of the redacted material is anomalously added, these additions are judged to increase the “mystery” and “psychological horror” aspects of the anomaly. Suggested Threat Class upgraded to Dangerous based on additional information.

Conclusion: The collaborative nature of the fictional construct allows for an anomaly with significant enough narrative potential to be “rewritten” or “co-edited” in a manner that undoes our changes and alters the anomaly itself. Valuable insight gained and potential hazards of this line of experimentation established.

 Experiment Log - Indirect Transfictional Neutralization of AO-███████ and AO-███████

Goal: To attempt neutralization of an uncategorized anomalous object by significantly exaggerating its potential threat level and describing that threat using the most overt possible terms.

Attempt 1: Object is described as being so powerful that only containment in a 1KM X 1KM X 1KM steel block is sufficient to fully contain it. This is technically true based on a .000001 Hume fluctuation detection at a distance of 0.98KM during testing, but so small a detection would not normally be considered in a standard analysis of an AO or containment recommendation.
Result: Photographs of AO are redacted. Attempts to commit report to the database are rejected by previously unknown AIC (subsequently found to have full documentation). Object remains in preliminary containment but is being reevaluated to determine if it can be classified as neutralized.

Attempt 2: Object is described as having the full potential capabilities that it verbally asserted during intake. Documentation is written in such a manor as to imply that the Foundation does not believe it can contain the anomaly and that the anomaly may need to be granted O5 status to prevent it from seeking to destroy the Foundation.
Result: Object disappears from containment 96 hours after report is committed. No records outside Project Stranger Than Fiction documentation remain extant in any Foundation systems. No members of recovery team or experimentation team (with the exception of PSTF L5 researcher Janet Dohe) have any memory of the anomaly. Surveillance footage and secure logs do not show any record of the anomaly being brought into preliminary containment.

Conclusions: Experiment was a success and represents tangible results of PSTF positively altering the containment paradigm of anomalies contained within our reality. Further testing approved.

 Experiment Log - Indirect Transfictional Neutralization of SCP-0██

Goal: To attempt neutralization of an extant SCP object in long-term containment by significantly exaggerating its potential threat level and describing that threat using the most overt possible terms.

Attempt: Repeat previous experiment on SCP-0██.
Result: Changes anomalously reverted within 24 hours. No changes noted in SCP object during this time.

Conclusion: Sufficiently established SCP Objects that have been in the Foundation Database for a significant period of time are likely immune to this effect. Further testing approved.

 Experiment Log - Indirect Transfictional Neutralization of SCP-6███

Goal: To attempt neutralization of a newly categorized extant SCP object by significantly exaggerating its potential threat level and describing that threat using the most overt possible terms.

Attempt: Repeat previous experiment on SCP-6███, which was categorized extremely recently.
Result: After 24 hours, object began to emit high levels of gamma radiation. After 48 hours, object projected macabre imagery into the dreams of all staff at site ██. After 72 hours, object attempted to kill SCP-682 unsuccessfully. After 96 hours, object disappeared from containment and all records and memories of the object outside those with PSTF clearance were erased.

Conclusion: Success. Similar implications as previous experiment.

Note: SCP-682 was not scheduled to be on site during this test. No explanation for why it had been relocated or transport documentation was found in any Foundation system and no personnel had any memory of having been involved in its transfer. Security footage was anomalously distorted so as to make identification of individuals who delivered the object impossible.

 Experiment Log - Indirect Transfictional Creation of SCP-6███

Goal: To create a Thaumiel class object capable of mitigating the effects of certain Apollyon class objects by applying documentation principles established by PSTF thus far.

Attempt: Create a Thaumiel class object capable of downgrading SCP-████ from Apollyon to Keter
Result: A hypothetical Thaumiel class SCP Object capable of slowing the rate of [REDACTED] caused by SCP-████ was documented as extant and, along with associated recovery and testing logs, was entered into the Database as SCP-6███. After 24 hours, anomalous modifications were made to testing logs limiting the success of the artifact. After an additional 48 hours, the artifact manifested in containment site ██. After an additional 24 hours, the artifact’s Database entry was modified to indicate that it successfully neutralized SCP-████; this was verified as accurate by L4/████ personnel. After an additional 24 hours, the Database entry for SCP-6███ was anomalously deleted and SCP-████ reverted to its state prior to this experiment. The object itself remanifested in preliminary containment but was fully inert, including non-anomalous [REDACTED]. No personnel outside PSTF have any recollection of SCP-6███ having existed or any changes in the behavior of SCP-████ during this time.

Conclusion: This method may have potential if we are able to conceptualize a Thaumiel artifact that is more “interesting” than an established Apollyon class artifact. Given the nature of Apollyon artifacts, this is likely to either be impractical or lead to a Thaumiel class artifact that ultimately becomes an equal, if not greater, threat than that posed by the initial Apollyon class artifact. Further testing along this line is approved but all proposals will require a unanimous vote of the O5 Council to proceed.

Note: No unredacted copy of any documentation related to the SCP designation of the transfictional Thaumiel Class object created and neutralized during this experiment can be located, including within Project Stranger Than Fiction files, though individuals with PSTF clearance can remember the designation when directly asked.

 Experiment Log - Direct Transfictional Web Code Insertion/Injection

Goal: To directly cause changes in the SCP Database when viewed within the superseding reality and determine the outcome of these changes.

Attempt: Find a way to inject/insert HTML and/or Wiki Markdown code into the browser of a user in the superseding reality.
Result: Successfully inserted HTML, Wiki Markdown, and basic JavaScript into the database and verified with 99.2% confidence that it had been interacted with in the superseding reality.

Conclusion: Difficulty encountered in verification as, to a user in our reality, the code would appear to be flawed in such a way as to look like the code had been entered as non functional standard text. Creating a module wrapping technique to insert/inject the code was less difficult than finding a way to verify the outcome. Having determined how to properly infer page views from outside our reality through the use of [REDACTED], we expect future tests of similar complexity to be increasingly useful.

 Experiment Log - Direct Transfictional Neutralization of SCP Objects

Goal: To directly alter the entry for several SCP Onjects within the suerseding reality so as to cause their retrocausal neutralization in our reality.

Attempt: Modify invisible “Rating” variable for SCP-███, SCP-████, SCP-████, and SCP-████ (all of which are scheduled for neutralization trials) in an attempt to remove the SCP objects from our reality.
Result: Able to modify the “Rating” variable of all tested SCP objects by exactly one total (+ or -) “vote".

Conclusion: While a very limited positive result was obtained, the likelihood of being able to successfully alter the existence status of an SCP object with a transreality manipulation of one single “vote” is extremely low. Additionally, further testing may jeopardize our edit/commit access to the SCP Foundation Database in the superseding reality and will require a unanimous vote of the Overwatch Council and the Administrator.

 Experiment Log - Experiment Log - Simultaneous Direct and Indirect Initiation of Transfictional Quantum Entanglement.

Goal: To determine if quantum interactions are able to cross between our reality and the superseding reality.

Attempt 1: Through the use of [REDACTED], SCP-████, SCP-████, and the Foundation’s (non-anomalous) expanded quantum manipulation technology, create an entangled pair of photons with one particle in our reality and the other in the superseding reality.
Result: Entanglement failed, however information was recovered indicating that our ability to determine the exact position and spin of the particle in the superseding reality interfered in the process as it would if both photons were in our reality. Implications used to modify [REDACTED] and SCP-████ output accordingly.

Attempt 2: Same as attempt one, but using relational probability matching instead of direct quantum mapping to isolate the photon in the superseding reality.
Result: Success. Photons entangled and spin data was able to be directly sent between realities.
Update +1Hr: after precisely one hour, the photon in our reality was anomalously converted to a neutron. Status of the photon on the superseding reality unclear, but preliminary data suggests it remains a photon and may be in a “mirrored” entanglement state.

Attempt 1 (Preliminary): Gather information pertaining to an individual with edit access to the SCP Foundation Database in the superseding reality in an attempt to inform future efforts at direct interaction with the user.

After analysis, a website described as the SCP Foundation Sandbox was determined to be a staging area for work-in-progress stages of SCP documentation created by users in the superseding reality. Background:
After gaining access to the account of a contributor class individual in the superseding reality, it was determined that an individual using the same handle existed in our reality and had an analogous offline identity. Given the volume of highly sensitive information about the Foundation that a contributor class individual in the superseding reality would possess, a need to ascertain the potential threat of an information breach posed by the analogue to such an individual in our reality was identified.

PoI has interacted with numerous resources associated with the GoI “Gamers Against Weed.” While no evidence exists that they are a member of this organization, they appear to have several contacts within it. It is unknown if they are aware of the anomalous nature of this group’s activities though preliminary analysis suggests they do not; instead believing them to be a non-anomalous “hacktivist” collective that makes use of paranormal themes in their operations.

PoI has directly interacted with an instance of SCP-████ via internet relay chat (irc). Extensive analysis concludes that they are unaware of the anomalous nature of the object and believe themselves to be engaged in an online roleplaying community surrounding fictional (relative to our reality) anomalies.

PoI initially demonstrated an elevated hume level of 0.0003 above normal, though this is effectively within the margin of error for our remote detection equipment and no anomalous abilities have been detected. As of the events of Experiment [REDACTED], PoI’s Hume level has fluctuated between exactly 1, exactly 0, and exactly -1 hume. No anomalous abilities or effects have manifested and PoI shows no indication that this will change in the next 44 years (estimated mortality of the individual).

Conclusion:
By simultaneously interacting with a local and superseding version of the same individual, where the core discrepancy between the two (aside from the reality in which they reside) is direct knowledge of the SCP Foundation, we have inadvertently created a scenario where the “reality state” of the individual within our reality is in an uncollapsed waveform. While the fact that the PoI is simultaneously “more real than reality” and “less real than reality” is troubling, the fact that the only reference frames which exist in our reality where that is the case are those already directly contained by PSTF, the threat of a transfictional collapse scenario is considered low. Caution is advised in any experimentation involving both “versions” of this same individual.

UPDATE: Cross-reality experimentation on contributor class or fan class individuals is indefinitely postponed after the events of experiment [REDACTED].

Experiment Log - Indirect self insertion of a contributor class individual into PSTF documentation.
Goal: To determine if “self inserting” on the part of the contributor class individual from the previous experiment will lead to direct transfictional knowledge transfer to our reality.

Attempt 1: As PoI was writing the experiment summary for this experiment, the test subject was altered to reference their fictional analogue [DATA EXPUNGED].
Result: The PoI in our reality immediately [DATA EXPUNGED]. Upon regaining consciousness, the PoI in the superseding reality believed they had written the experiment log as is, redactions included.

Conclusion: Threat of a K Class Narrative Collapse Scenario is unacceptably high, as is the potential for deletions of PSTF documentation by administrators within the superseding reality. No further experimentation along these lines is to be permitted. Continued surveillance of the PoI within our reality is to remain entirely covert. No further changes in the behavior of the PoI analogue in the superseding reality have been detected.

Operation Hawking’s Bane

 Project proposal - Input Navidson 0/FNPPTO Clearance for Access

Goal: To create a physical outpost of the SCP Foundation in the superseding reality for the purpose of comparison testing and the possible reverse-metaleptically-direct³containment or neutralization of universe scale anomalies in our reality.

Proposed Methodology: Through the use of [DATA EXPUNGED BY O5-0]^4,5 and then to create a type [REDACTED] portal to the programmed location. Thus allowing us to manifest a stable, inhabitable, Foundation monitoring outpost within the event horizon of a black hole in the superseding reality.

When operated using both knowledge of the superseding reality as well as meta-knowledge of our own reality inferred from it, these methods should allow for the creation of a physical outpost which exists within a perfectly isolated (nonfictional) reference frame in relation to the superseding reality. This is prevented from posing an XXXK class end-of-narrative scenario by three principles that are valid in both realities

First, since nothing can be transmitted from within the event horizon to the universe outside it, there is no possibility of being detected as having a nonfictional existence within the superseding reality. The [REDACTED] nature of the waveform encompassing the facility itself would additionally preclude the infinitesimal chance of its existence being inferable by measurement of Hawking Radiation. This precludes a transfictional knowledge paradox from directly occurring in the superseding reality.

Second, since none of the energy, matter, or information pertaining to or contained by this facility was ever (non-fictionally) present in the superseding reality before manifestation within the event horizon, the conservation of information within that reality is not violated by the first principle. This additionally precludes discovery of the facility even by far-future technology able to read data encoded in the event horizon itself since no part of the facility passed through the horizon at any point.

Third, since any data derived from actions taken within the facility would be applied and recorded (in accordance with PSTF infosec principles) in our reality, the information would be non-fictionally intact within our reality but would be “fictionally contained” within the superseding reality irrespective of its factuality within that reality.

Essentially the facility would be, from the perspective of anyone outside the event horizon,
nonexistent, the facility could thus effectively be considered a “Functionally Nonexistent but Physically Present Transfictional” (FNPPT) Outpost.

Site security arrives at agent’s last reported position approaching from opposite direction. They have seen no sign of agent and observe no signs of foul play, accident, or anomalous activity at the location.

+36 Minutes:
Site security completes circuit of Navidson Outpost perimeter and reports no signs of agent.

+40 Minutes:
Site command initiates sitewide search for agent Danica and begins a full-array scan of the spacetime region between the outer antitachyonic barrier of the outpost and the event horizon of the black hole (the Schrodinger zone).

+131 Minutes:
Site staff report seeing Agent Danica outside the station’s hull through viewports 9, 11, 14, 19, 22, 26, 29, and 33. They report her in various states of distress and various levels of gravimetric distortion due to the effects of the singularity the station is orbiting. Other staff observing through adjacent viewports observe nothing unusual outside the station. Scan is not complete and data is unavailable for cross check at this time.

Similar conflicting reports come in from staff throughout the station at all viewports. The only pattern discerned is that no viewport has been connected to an observation more than once and no individual staff member has seen the agent more than once.

Scan data is returned and cross checked against reports. No sightings of agent are reported after this time.

As analysis of data continues, security footage is viewed by Navidson’s Comms team at PSTF command in our reality⁷ Analysts confirm that Agent Danica appeared to flicker in and out of visible perception for 1 second, flicker between blue shifted and red shifted for 3 seconds, and then disappear completely.

Immediate post incident preliminary analysis calculates a 100% certainty that no matter, energy, or information contamination of the space outside the event horizon has occurred. However a %99.9r (infinitely close to 100%) is calculated that no such contamination occurred in the Schrodinger Zone.

Post Incident Analysis:
It has been determined that the interplay of numerous quantum systems involved in the construction and maintenance of the Navidson 0 Outpost, as well as those at play within the Scroedinger zone, are not exempt from the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. Specifically, that no “perfect system,” including the antitachyonic and causally isolated waveform barriers in use at the outpost, can exist. This was anticipated and accounted for by placing the outpost itself within an event horizon, thus “abstracting” any uncertainty based radiation (including Hawking radiation).

What was NOT, however, anticipated was the way that quantum systems within the outpost and those in the Schroedinger zone would interact with one another. In this case, the interactions between fictional and nonfictional quantum systems inside a waveform that simultaneously contained observers (i.e. the “cat’s perspective”) was not properly accounted for in these systems' design. As a result, we did not foresee the conceptual effects of this immensely complex set of systems on individuals within the outpost. Since the SCP Foundation could be considered anomalous within the superseding reality, this arguably represents a transfictional containment breach. However, since the spacetime within the Schroedinger zone is neither contained within our reality nor connected to the rest of the superseding reality, this is not currently believed to pose a threat to either.

While we have concluded that no threat to the superseding reality beyond the event horizon, or to our own reality, exists, a threat to station personnel and certain equipment has been identified. Specifically that the individuals within the outpost are singular concepts from the perspective of the universe outside the outpost and are effectively treated as particles by the quantum systems at work in the Schroedinger zone. Meaning that while this incident would be considered a macro-scale quantum event to us, it is apparently considered a standard quantum scale event to the space outside the outpost.

The following remediation procedure is suggested:
Oxygen supply will be directly pumped into the station via the gateway. Effectively this should cause each oxygen molecule within the station to be equally exposed to this phenomenon and massively reduce the likelihood of larger objects being effected. Emergency O2 backup supplies shall remain locally generated.
