Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained via a locked box in a level 3 containment chamber. Due to the dangers of coming into contact with the artifact, SCP-XXXX's chamber is to be guarded by no less than two MTF Indigo-6 personnel. These guards are to use non-lethal force on any unauthorized personnel attempting to gain access to the artifact.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a medium sized hard-backed book. There appears to be nothing special about this book, as it has no cover art and no title. Upon coming into contact with the artifact the subject will go into a catatonic state and their eyes will █████ ████. Subjects reported after coming into contact with the artifact, "An immense wave of dread and despair." After 3 seconds of touching the artifact, subjects reported having vivid hallucinations. The visions were different for every subject but they all had one concurring theme, the death of loved ones in various ways.
Addendum: D-class subject 108537 was recruited for experimentation with SCP-XXXX. The subject entered the artifact's chamber and retrieved SCP-XXXX, After coming into contact subject went into a catatonic state that lasted approximately 15 seconds. The subject then proceeded to open the cover of the artifact and turned to the first page. On this page, the words "Book of Thoth," were written in Egyptian hieroglyphics.
The subject returned to a catatonic state and placed SCP-XXXX back into its lockbox, walked out of the chamber and attempted to acquire Lieutenant ████████'s weapon. The guard attempted a non-lethal takedown of the subject but ultimately had to resort to breaking the subject's neck.
