Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is currently contained on Larose Drive in ██. ██████, ███████. An electric fence should encircle the Drive at all times, and should always be active. Any and all personnel entering SCP-XXXX’s containment area must be accompanied by no less than (2) armed guards.

Flood lights mounted on top of the fence at regular 10 metre intervals should be turned on and facing the interior of SCP-XXXX from the hours of 18:00 to 6:00, and should be turned off during the hours of 7:00 to 17:00.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is a city block currently containing (68) houses and (2) schools. SCP-XXXX is constantly changing structure and building positions. It was discovered in 19██ by Agent ████ ███████. It’s anomalous properties became evident when two-thirds of the structures located inside of SCP-XXXX had disappeared, and the remaining buildings had moved drastically.

In 19██, Senior Researcher Eddie ███ discovered sentient entities residing in the structures that lay on SCP-XXXX. They are henceforth known as SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 appear to be humanoid and are each approx. 1.5 metres tall, but have no mass. Instead, they are presented in the form of shadows and are capable of moving on their own accord. SCP-XXXX-1 have been observed to act like normal humans, but will mirror the exact movements of a random human at all times until that human dies, in which case the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will select another human and resume mimicking it.

Observations of SCP-XXXX-1 instances have shown a desire to escape captivity, but are unable to do so during daylight hours, due to it being easily seen. Instances make regular attempts to breach containment from the hours of 18:00 to 6:00, and for that reason all on-site personnel are required to carry 200-watt flashlights at all times.

SCP-XXXX-1 instances have also shown an extreme sensitivity towards light. Tests show that if any bright light source is held on any SCP-XXXX-1 instance, it will ‘die’ from exposure. Personnel are recommended to not harm SCP-XXXX-1 instances, as it seems to increase their hostility levels. This is what is thought to have instilled the desire to escape in the beginning.

Testing on instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have revealed that they do not know any human language, instead making clicking and gurgling noises to each other when their human interacts with another’s human. It is as of yet undetermined what these sounds mean.

Caution is advised when working in close quarters with SCP-XXXX-1 instances.
