Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard storage area large enough to occupy both the object and give enough space for researchers to stand outside the anomalous zone. Currently, it is stored within a 15 m × 10 m × 5 m repurposed storage unit within the left-wing of Area 456-b.

Anyone who has no prior war or combat experience, such as researchers or trainee security guards, must not enter within two meters of SCP-XXXX at any time as to not fall under the anomalous effects of the object. If a subject does fall under these effects outside of testing, they are to be transported immediately to a safe area, such as a padded cell, to prevent harm to themselves and others until the effects are worn off. They are then to be administered Class-B amnestics in an attempt to have them forget the experience associated with SCP-XXXX and reassigned to another location under constant supervision. If amnesticization fails, the affected subject will be terminated from all Foundation positions and given therapy and be under supervision for as long as needed.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a WWII-era LCVP1 or Higgins boat that served in Operation Overlord, the amphibious assault on German-occupied France during the latter stages of the war by Allied forces along the beaches of Normandy. It is mostly constructed of plywood with a steel ramp at the front that can lowered. On both sides, the designation number PA-1754 is written in white paint.

The object is somewhat heavier than expected as if it were fully loaded despite it being empty.

SCP-XXXX in particular was responsible for transporting American troops to the beach of Omaha. Though sources' figures vary dramatically, an estimated two-thousand American casualties were reported to have taken place in the eighteen hours that it took for Allied forces to secure the landing zone, making it one of the bloodiest battles during the war involving American troops.

This, in turn, has hypothetically led to anomalous effects SCP-XXXX displays among subjects.

Whenever a subject who meets the requirements2 enters within two meters or so of the craft, they will begin to experience a hallucination or vision that can last hours and renders them immobile. This hallucination, as described by survivors, is a simulation of the Omaha beach landing as seen through the eyes of an American soldier. This simulation will force the subject to scale the beach while under constant gunfire and can only conclude if the subject survives until the beachhead is secured or is killed in the process. While all survivors described that the process took around eighteen hours, researchers have observed that the subject will only be in the catatonic state for around two hours at the very least while some have remained in it indefinitely. The conditions that lead to such a large variance in time are still being researched.

If a subject sustains an injury from gunfire, shrapnel, etc., this wound will manifest itself on the subject's real body which could be fatal. Any attempt to treat these wounds outside the hallucination has been proven ineffective, with blood seeming to pass through bandages and other means with little difficulty. Only when medical attention from entities present within the hallucination can attend to these wounds though their methods are rarely as effective.

Survivors in around 95% of cases will develop some form of PTSD as a result of SCP-XXXX. Around 10% of those cases have even expressed suicidal ideation, leading to extensive follow-up programs by the Foundation.

Overall, out of all subjects used in experimentation, around 90% did not survive testing, leading to the termination of human testing indefinitely as ordered by Head Area 456 Researcher Dr. █████.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was found in the storage area of a French museum where it was undergoing restoration when restoration personnel fell under the anomalous effects of the object. The Foundation almost immediately was informed of this and were sent in to secure it.

The initial attempts were unsuccessful due to the recovery team falling under the effects. After trial and error in trying to secure the object, the conditions of said effects were discovered a week later and the rest of containment went without further issue.
