SCP-XXXX
Containment Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: The underground complex SCP-XXXX occupies has been repurposed and designated Provisional Site-405. MTF unit Iota-27 (“Art Connoisseurs”) has been created to explore the different SCP-XXXX-1s generated by SCP-XXXX. Site-405 is to be staffed by no less than 1 security personnel, and 2 research personnel at all times. Testing of SCP-XXXX is suspended until further notice by the O5 Council.

Description: SCP-XXXX is located in █████, United States. SCP-XXXX is a modified Dell Dimension 4500 that has 2 extra oddly shaped ports at the back. These ports appear similar to the standard DMX, but with 7 prongs in a regular heptagonal shape around the center of the port.

The first of these ports is connected by wire to the base of an ordinary mahogany door frame, although no door is present within the frame. The second is connected to a large scanner that is 2ft x 2ft. Swapping the order the ports are plugged into makes the computer program output an error.

When powered on, SCP-XXXX will display an interface if a monitor is connected. The interface includes variables, parameters, and measurements, as well as a button labeled as “Start” and a faded button labeled as “Stop”. When a painting is inserted into the scanner and “Start” is pressed, the doorframe will create a portal into a computer generated replica of the painting present within the scanner, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. The method in which SCP-XXXX does this is unknown.

When entered, the subject will be placed in front of the focal point of the painting, and an identical mahogany door will appear behind them. The space appears 3D, and subjects can walk into the foreground and background, as well as behind objects or off the side of what is present in the painting. There appears to be no limit to how expansive SCP-XXXX-1 is.

If humans or other creatures are on the painting, they appear in SCP-XXXX-1 and are capable of self locomotion. Humans are capable of speaking and conscious thought. These creatures will be doing the task that they appear to be doing in the painting when the subject enters SCP-XXXX-1, but this can change if enough time is spent within SCP-XXXX-1.

Task: Reach the edge of SCP-XXXX-1

Foreword: Communication with individuals within SCP-XXXX-1 has proven impossible. The following was locally stored on the person of 3-1.

(3-1, 3-3, and 3-4 are audibly laughing. 3-2 is not amused.)

3-2: Sorry to interrupt, but something stands out about that cabin over there. It looks different than all of the other buildings we have seen before.

(While being colored like the others, the indicated structure seems to be built with actual geometry.)

3-1: Well then, let’s go take a look.

(The group moves closer to the structure. Upon closer inspection, it is clear it is built differently than the others.)

3-1: 3-4, can you go knock on the door?**

3-4: Yes Lieutenant.

(3-4 walks up and knocks on the front door.)

Unknown: Hello?

(A human male opens the front door. The physical appearance of the individual does not appear to have been painted.)

Unknown: Who are you? It’s not often that I get visitors.**

3-4: How did you get in this place?

Unknown: What do you mean?

3-4: Are there any others like you?

Unknown: You sure are asking a lot of questions. Do you want to come inside?

3-4: Why not?

(3-4 enters the structure. Inside is a sitting area.)

Unknown: Coffee?

3-4: No thanks.

Unknown: Shame. I make it myself. Alright. Now that I’m comfortable, I get it you have some questions for me?

3-4: That is correct.

Unknown: Spit it out then.

3-4: Are there other people here?

Unknown: You would be the first in a few years. But yes, there are other people in this ‘realm’.

3-4. And how did you get here?**

Unknown: I don’t know.

3-4: Do you have a name?

Unknown: Jack. What is your name?

3-4: My name is Miller. So, Jack, where were you before you got here?

Unknown: Chicago.

3-4: Do you know where the other people here came from?

Unknown: I never asked them, that seemed a bit personal.

3-4: Do you know where they are now?

Unknown: Most likely this realm, I don’t know where they are exactly though.

(3-4 continues to question the subject for approximately 23 more minutes.)

SCP-XXXX-1: Waterfall by M. C. Escher
Task: Discover any deviations from baseline reality.

<Begin Log>

(2-1, 2-2, 2-3, and 2-4 enter SCP-XXXX-1 on the pathway at the bottom center of the painting. 2-3 attempts to step to the left, but instead walks backwards. A 90 degree turn changes the direction of movement the equivalent of 180 degrees.)

2-3: What the [Data Explunged]

2-1: Let’s orient ourselves before we begin the investigation.

(The team moves around until they begin to comprehend how to love within SCP-XXXX-1.)

2-1: Ok. I think that’s enough. 2-2, why don’t you look for a way up there.

(2-1 points to the balcony above the archway to the left of where they are standing. 2-2 walks into the archway to the left of where they stand.)

2-1: 2-3 and 2-4, why don’t you go down those stairs to our right. Report back in 10 minutes.

(Both privates walk away towards the staircase. As they do, 2-2 exits the archway under the aquaduct.)

2-2: Sir, there seems to be no way up from within the tunnel. I’ll have to look elsewhere.

(2-2 looks over the railing along the staircase. The bottom is not visible.)

2-1: Understood, thank you, Sarge.

(2-1 enters the overgrown area at the bottom left of the painting. Nothing seems out of the ordinary except the size of the plants. 5 minutes later, 2-3 and 2-4 was back up the staircase.)

2-3: The staircase is a deadend, sir. It ends at a sheer cliff off the side of the building.

2-1: Thank you, Private.

(2-2 appears on the balcony above the archway.)

2-2: Letting down the rope, sir.

(2-2 ties off a rope and lowers it off the balcony. The rest of the squad scales the wall using the rope. The aqueduct appears to zig-zag, but each corner is directly above another. It appears to be using the principle that turning 90 degrees moves it backwards, although the way it rises is unknown.)

2-1: Alright, let’s take the measurements and get out of here.

(The team gets to work doing preassigned expirements with the aqueduct.)

Foreword: Due to a malfunction in the recording equipment, audio was not properly stored, and could not be recovered.

<Begin Log>

0:00: 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, and 2-4 exit the door in front of the middle pillar in the painting. The man sitting on the sidewalk playing the bagpipes looks questioningly at them, but continues playing.

0:01: The group moves into the foreground of the painting, which appears to be a city square. No abnormalities other than what is present in the original painting are immediately noticeable.

0:08: 2-1 instructs 2-2 and 2-3 to investigate the street layout. When the group splits, 2-1 and 2-4 begin attempting to question the locals. However, everyone they attempt to speak to glances around and then briskly walks away.

0:19: 2-2 takes his 9th right turn, and has yet to cross back across his path. 2-3, however, took 8 left turns and, without crossing his own path, saw 2-2 down the same street.

0:22: 2-2 and 2-3 meet up and begin heading back.

0:25: 2-4 has found a resident that appears to be willing to speak, although lip reading software is unable to determine what it is saying.

0:37: The group meets up again and heads back into the door, ending the exploration.

SCP-XXXX-2 appears to be a human male of European descent. It is estimated to be 5’ 7” tall, and weigh between 200-250 pounds. It is located within Starry Night every tested SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX is unable to leave SCP-XXXX-1.

  2-1: 2-3, you're with me. Us two will take this side, you two take that side. Check back here every 10 minutes.

  (2-1 and 2-3 begin clearing rooms on the right side. 2-2 and 2-4 take the left side rooms.)

  2-1: Alright, let’s go see if 2-2 has found anything.

  (2-1 and 2-3 go back to the starting point. 2-2 is nowhere to be found.)

  (2-1 and 2-3 are standing outside of one of the rooms. Inside voices can be heard, but no words can be made out. 2-1 kicks open the door and inside 2-2 and 2-4 are tied to wooden chairs. 5 armed men bearing no insignias are present. 2-1 and 2-3 are able to fire 7 shots before ducking back behind the wall. 2 men get injured and one is killed.)

  Unknown: You, go find the captain. Tell him we are under attack.

  (2-1 looks back through the door and kills another combatant before being shot in the abdomen.)

  1-2: He was a good man. 1-8 and 1-9, bring 2-1 back to reality.

  (1-8 and 1-9 start moving towards 2-1.)

  1-1: Everyone else, I will be taking 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, and 1-5 to follow the blood trail from that door to where 2-1 is. 1-6 and 1-7, stay here and wait for 1-8 and 1-9 to come back. Then follow us. Understood?

  1-3 - 1-7: Sir, yes Sir!

  1-1: Great! Let’s move.

  (1-1 - 1-7 follow the blood trail to a door under the overhang on the left side of the painting.)

  1-1: Everyone in formation.

  (1-1 and 1-3 line up on the wall to the left of the door. 1-2 and 1-4 line up on the right. 1-3 and 1-4 puts one hand the the man in front of them. 1-1 tries to open the door but it is barricaded on the inside. 1-5 plants a breach charge on the door and joins the line on the left side. When the charge goes off, the squad enters the room to find it completely empty except for a single wooden chair that was under the doorknob. There are two doors on the opposite wall, but the blood trail leads to the right one.)

  1-2: Clear.

  1-1: Clear.

  (1-3 places a door jammer on the left door.)

  1-3: Barricade up.

  1-1: 1-5, guard this door. Make sure nobody enters except for the rest of the squad. If hostiles show up, yell. Understood?

  1-5: Sir, yes Sir.

  1-1: Everyone else, check for anything. Hidden doors, trapdoors, seams where they aren’t supposed to be.

  (1-1 - 1-4 check the room for any hidden exits or entrances. 58 seconds later, 1-6 - 1-9 return.)

  1-2: Alright everyone, form up. 1-8 and 1-9, stand watch at the entrance to make sure nobody enters behind us.

  (1-1, 1-3, and 1-4 line up on the right side of the door. 1-2, 1-5, and 1-6 line up on the left. 1-1 tries the door and finds it unlocked. 1-7 joins the line on the right, and 1-1 gives the signal to enter the room. Inside is an empty hallway with 3 closed doors on each side. The blood trail leads into the middle door on the left.)

  1-1: Small room, right side.

  (The room appears to be a bedroom. Inside is a single bed in the far left corner. The rest of the room is empty.

  1-2: Small room, left side.

  (This room is a mirrored version of the previous one.

  1-3: Small room, right side.

  (Inside the room is a chair made from an unknown metal. Nothing else is present.)

  1-5: Large room, left side.

  (Inside this room are 2 chairs. Cut up rope is on the ground beneath one of them. In the other is the corpse of 2-2 tied to the chair.)

  (The room is a duplicate of the first.)

  (Inside, 2-3 and 2-4 are unconscious on the floor. A bed is in the far right corner.)

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is believed to be an asteroid by civilian space agencies, and nobody has suspected anything to the contrary. In the event somebody discovers SCP-XXXX's true nature, they are to be tracked down and given amnestics, and their work disproven by undercover foundation scientists if it is necessary to do so.

Description: SCP-XXXX is indistinguishable from asteroids by conventional means. By every definition of the word, SCP-XXXX is considered a living organism. It is 216 meters in diameter, with no craters, and has an outer shell of metamorphic rock. It has a slightly elliptical orbit around the sun, with a periapsis of 175 million kilometers and an apoapsis of lust over 190 million kilometers.

SCP-XXXX has been shown to have a liquid interior with a substance thought to be a type of blood. Metamorphic rock is arranged within as a skeletal structure, and at the center there is a beating heart. The heart measures over 20 meters across, and pumps every 1.73 hours. Despite this, X-ray photographs of SCP-XXXX do not deviate from what would be expected from a regular asteroid. It is believed to be able to cloak itself using its unusual 'blood'. Further research is required to determine if it can be utilized.

Discovery: On 4/23/1996, the Foundation's Aether Offshore Telescope, a converted drilling rig purchased from ██████████████ in ██/██/1988, was augmented with a lens infused with ███████████████, an experimental new alloy composed of █████████ and quartz-glass. The theory was that it would allow them to pierce certain types of cloaking mechanisms. 6 days later, on 4/29/1996, it showed the surface of SCP-XXXX to be leaking an unusual liquid substance. Once this was confirmed, it was classified as SCP-XXXX.

Insert Valid ASRDD/3 Credentials

Back in 1998, the Anomalous Spacecraft Research and Development Department (ASRDD) was asked by the Manufacturing Department to begin designing, constructing, and launching a spacecraft capable of obtaining samples from the surface of SCP-XXXX. The thought that it would allow them to create a more efficient cloaking device, as the ones at the time were considered subpar. The ASRDD of the time failed spectacularly, and Operation Shooting for the Stars, also referred to as Operation Shooting Stars, was archived to give an example for future generations of engineers of what NOT to do. -Assistant Director Hassings

Earlier today Dr. Wagner finally left his computer. I don't know how he could function for that long without sleep, but somehow he managed to design the entire spacecraft in just over three weeks! I'm going behind his back to have some of the engineers check his work, but so far they haven't caught anything amiss. He has changed though, and I'm scared for him.
