SCP Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
Classification: Safe

Containment procedures:
SCP is currently housed in Site Head ██████’s office following an approved request to the O5 council
Following Incident 8 Beta, all shards were extracted from office block 8, wrapped up in black cloth and stored in a box in item locker 307 at Site 12. Item locker 307 is not to be opened by human staff unless clearance is given by clearance level 4 personnel. 3 shards of SCP are kept in item locker 308 for testing purposes.

Description:
SCP is an ornate 50 x 80 cm2 mirror with an intricately designed golden frame reminiscent of Elizabethan Era frames. When visual contact is made with their reflection in SCP , a subject’s appearance is modified to become more aesthetically pleasing. Observed effects have included: Beard and moustache hair retracting resulting in a shaved look, adjustment of hair length and shape to create varying haircuts, the disappearance of moles, visible pores and wrinkles, slight adjustments in facial structure and a reduction in skin oiliness. SCP has been shown to have a ‘taste’ in haircut and trims, suggesting sapience.

SCP was discovered by foundation personnel on ██-██-1976 during the auction of Duchess ███████’s estate and belongings when multiple attending buyers realised that many of their facial imperfections had disappeared. Class B amnestics were administered and a cover story of a beauty product trial was released.
Following Incident 8 Beta, it was found that looking at multiple shards simultaneously results in permanent disfigurement and in prolonged exposure death. Due to the high number of shards simultaneously trying to neaten the subject, each possibly with different ideas of neatening causes facial structure to lose integrity as parts are subjected to growth and degeneration simultaneously.

Let this Incident serve as a reminder for why we should always properly contain SCP objects, especially those of safe classification. Sometimes we don’t understand the object fully or unexpected events trigger catastrophes.
