Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: - - Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
Due to its dangerous nature only D-class personnel are to be used when interacting with SCP-XXXX. For the safe containment of SCP XXXX, hereby referred to as The Gutvatahk, (goot-vuh-talk) there are rules that all personnel must follow.
1. Never let The Gutvatahk see its reflection in a silver backed mirror as this will allow further entry into our reality.
2. Never wear or bring any reflective surface into The Gutentahk's cell. Doing so risks personnel's reflection to be seen, which will trigger a violent frenzy in The Gutvatahk.
3. While in the presence of The Gutvatahk personnel must follow the Myers Rule, which is to not speak more than 3 sentences.
Failure to adhere to rule 3 will cause The Gutvatahk to attack and devour the offender
note 1: The Gutvatahk is passive unless something has broken the Myers rule or is reflected in a surface
Containment Procedure
Once every 24 hours, a team of 4 D-class personnel are to deliver a crate containing 2 chickens and a goat to The Gutvatahk.
Once the crate is inside the room and all personnel have retreated, a remote button is pressed. This opens the top of the crate and turns on the lights inside. The animals' reflections will appear in the metal lined interior, enticing The Gutvatahk to attack. Personnel are expected to observe and record through the entire duration.
When feeding has finished the button is pressed again and the crate can then be safely retrieved.
Note 2: if the crate malfunctions then a team of at least 8 D-class personnel must enter to retrieve it, and the survival rate is expected at 50%.
Termination Protocol:
There have been 156 D-class deaths attributed to The Gutvatahk since its capture in 1994, causing a termination protocol to be sought by The Foundation. As of now all attempts to neutralize The Gutvatahk have failed. No known substance can pierce its skin and extreme temperatures all proved ineffective.
Note 3: A proposal, SCP-XXXX-3, is pending that would place SCP-682 in The Gutvatahk's cell with a reflective collar on.
Description:
Once an urban legend, and now thought amongst many at The Foundation to be the root of the ancient superstition that mirrors steal souls, The Gutvatahk used to be summoned by the loved ones of those it had consumed.
The Gutvatahk's exposed torso is 4 meters in length, while the rest of it remains trapped inside a large wheeled mirror in a containment effort known as SCP XXXX-1, leaving the true size of The Gutvatahk still unknown. Its hands and extremities are elongated and massive in scale, twisting and popping in unnatural movements. A long blue tongue hangs limp from a permanently dislocated jaw, with serrated teeth resting close together. Two sunken, hollow, eyes still somehow survey the room; and it secretes a foul scent, similar to sulfur.
When The Gutvatahk devours its prey their reflection, or soul, is transferred into a mirror dimension within The Gutvatahk itself, trapping them forever and gaining this SCP the Keeter classification.
Note 4: All the exposed mirror around The Gutvatahk was boarded up during a second interaction known as SCP XXXX-2.
note 5: A curious behavior has been exhibited by The Gutvatahk; It will often pull itself around it's warehouse sized cell sniffing at the ground as if patrolling for reflections.
Addendum:
Information on Dr. Nathan Myers:
Dr. Nathan Myers was a researcher at The Foundation from 1970 to 1994. He is the one who brought The Gutvatahk to Foundation attention. The transcript from a Foundation ordered therapy session listed below sufficiently summarizes the events leading to incident SCP XXXX-1.
Therapy Transcript: Dr. Nathan Myers:
Therapist: Today's the big day isn't it Nathan?
Nathan: Yeah, after I finish here I'm heading.
down to the hanger.
Therapist: And how does that feel? Going to.
the hanger? I would imagine it would pull up a lot.
of emotions.
Nathan: Honestly Doc? … I don't know. I.
never. do until I get right up on it, ya know?
Therapist: You want to elaborate on that?
Nathan: Some days… Just the thought of.
The. Gutvatahk sends me in to a panic. I spend.
all of those days avoiding anything reflective.
Therapist: Yes, your supervisor had reported.
that.
Nathan: Exactly! But other days… Other days.
I'm filled with hope. If this ritual works I'm going.
to see my little Abigail again!
Therapist: it's been 4 years since she went.
missing-
Nathan: She isn't missing she's dead!
Therapist: …
Nathan: She ran into that house of mirrors.
such a happy little 9 year old… Innocent.
Therapist: I meant no offense, you have.
indeed suffered a tragic loss.
Nathan: Thank you… It's been so hard… I.
see. blood on every mirror and barely sleep.
Therapist: For the last 4 years you've been.
researching anything to do with mirrors,
how'd. you stumble upon this ritual again?
Nathan: I found a story in a Germanic.
Monnestary that told of a monster called The.
Gutvatahk. This entity exists in a pocket.
dimension that he can exit, given two silver.
backed mirrors reflect each other.
Therapist: And that's what got Abigail?
Nathan: Yes… But any one got by The.
Gutvatahk can be contacted with the ritual I.
found.
Therapist: And when this ritual works you'll.
be able to see her in the mirror right? Have you.
planned out your sentences? I believe you told.
me you're allowed 3.
Nathan: Yes I do, I've spent years thinking of.
what I'd say if I could see her again and now I.
have to condense it down to 3 sentences…
How does one do that doc?
Therapist: Just speak from your heart Nathan
and I'm sure you'll find the words.
Nathan: Thanks Doc.
Therapist: Of course Nathan, I think they're ready for you to head down… Remember, you and I have a follow up tomorrow.
Nathan: Alright, see ya Doc.

SCP XXXX-1:
Dr. Nathan Myers accompanied by 7 D-Class personnel entered the hanger cell.
Dr. Myers stood between two 5 meter mirrors, both on wheels.
He then recited the following chant in German:
in keeping with Foundation guidelines on accuracy both the German and English translations are listed below.
Gutvatahk seele dieb
Gutvatahk seele Esser
Gutvatahk Geh schlafen
Flustern Abigail flustern
Les Gutvatahk huren.
(Gutvatahk soul stealer
Gutvatahk soul eater
Gutvatahk go to sleep
Whisper Abigail whisper
Les Gutvatahk hear.)
As Dr Myers finished the lights in the hanger flickered and the D-class personnel began to look worried
A visage of Abigail appeared in the mirror before Dr. Myers, confirming the existence of The Gutvatahk.
Dr. Myers, overcome with emotion went against plan and leapt into a long monologue.
D-class had began shouting at him to stop talking but it was too late.
The visage of Abigail screamed before splitting in half.
Long fingers reached out of the glass itself towards Dr. Myers, followed by a hand, larger than a human skull.
D-class open fired on the emerging Gutvatahk but it was ineffective and two were killed by the thrashing limb.
The Gutvatahk, now with head and shoulders out, grabbed Dr. Myers and violently bashed him against the wall before consuming him.
Four more D-class personnel died before they managed to get the second mirror out of the room
This prevented The Gutvatahk from progressing through the mirror in either direction.
A total of 6 D-Class personnel were lost and the sole survivor of the incident has since taken his own life after developing an agressive phobia of mirrors.
End SCP-XXXX-1
SCP-XXXX-2
Two teams of D-Class personnel entered The Gutvatahk's cell with different orders.
Team 1 was given reflective coats and told to run to the right corner
Team 2 was given a tarp, nails, wood, and black painted hammers. They were told to follow behind The Gutvatahk as it attacks Team 1.
When the plan commenced Team 1 ran to the corner drawing The Gutvatahk near.
Team 2 ran behind The Gutvatahk's mirror, covering the exposed glass with the tarp before nailing the boards in place to secure it.
Incident SCP-XXXX-2 ended with Team 1, consisting of 4 D-Class personnel, being eaten but Team 2 managed to pacify The Gutvatahk.
End SCP-XXXX-2
SCP-XXXX-3
As per termination request one researcher has suggested placing SCP-682 into The Gutvatahk's cell, while wearing a reflective collar.
NOTE: SCP-XXXX-3 has been suspended until the results of SCP-XXXX-4 can be verified.
SCP-XXXX-4
A D-Class janitor named Devan Johnson usually assigned to clean up after The Gutvatahk's feeding time has suggested that information into the mirror world contained inside The Gutvatahk can be gained through further experimentation.
Devan claims that The Gutvatahk has a mirror in the back of its throat, that he saw a man in a Foundation lab coat waving in.
The proposed incident hinges on the assumption that the ritual chant is not counted as violating the Myers Rule.
The proposal is that D-Class janitor Devan, will recite the ritual in German to The Gutvatahk with Dr. Nathan Myers name, in hopes of making contact.
SCP-XXXX-4 is set to be carried out Jan 29th 2021.
