City known now as Halifax following SCP-XXXX-1

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5045 is to be monitored carefully by at least 5 personnel at all times located at the office in the top floor of the Halifax HSBC Building. Any increase in electromagnetic activity or Hume levels should be immediately reported to Site Command at Site-██. Should a magnetic event take place, MTF Beta-7 will be deployed to help re contain SCP-5045. Tabs are to be kept on any drilling company showing interest in the Halifax Harbor. Agents embedded in CFB Halifax are to ensure that no submarine submerges within the harbor, and that no echo location equipment is to be used extensively within the bay.

Description:
SCP-5045 is a large creature located in the Halifax Harbor, roughly 2 Kilometers Long and 500 meters Wide. Topographical analysis has revealed that SCP-5045 is infact the bay itself, only covered in 5 meters of soil, gravel, sand, and various rocks. it is unknown what is below SCP-5045, as all attempts to map the ground below it have failed due to inability to penetrate the creature physically and electromagnetically.

SCP-5045 has an apparent 'face' located just below the surface in the Bedford Bay, and extensive radar mapping has shown it to resemble an elderly male with seaweed for what appears to be a 'beard'. analysis has shown that the face is the only detailed part of the organism, with the rest of its body flattened and recognizably deflated, providing evidence to the theory that it used to be inflated.

The surface of the anomaly appears flaccid and malleable, but is infact impossible to penetrate with conventional equipment, although it's believed that explosives could damage or possibly puncture the surface; see Addendum 01 for more details on explosives used to penetrate the skin of the anomaly.

It is believed that before the events detailed in SCP-5045-1, SCP-5045 was Halifax. The most popular theory is that SCP-5045 inflated parts of its body to resemble streets, buildings, and people. On the case of why this was never discovered before 1917, recorded hume levels suggest a possible mental deterrent that drove away any attempt for human contact above sea level.

Addendum 01: Captain Hans-Erwin Reith.
Captain Hans-Erwin Reith of U-190 was captured by Canadian Armed Forces in Bay Bulls Newfoundland, 1945, and was transferred to the Foundation following the inspection of his interrogation files in July 1945. The following two Addendum's describe his initial interrogation, and his third Foundation Interrogation, which to the containment of SCP-5045.

Following is the third interview by Foundation Agents following his transfer.

Addendum 02 - SCP-5045-1
SCP-XXXX-1 is known more commonly as the Halifax Explosion of 1917. After intensive interrogation and research, this is the best theory pertaining to the series of events.

Addendum 03 - Investigation
Following the interrogation of SL Reith, and short recording and mapping sessions within the harbor, an investigation was launched into the cover-up of SCP-5045-1. Analysis of human remains revealed that some people in Halifax had been dead for almost 300 years, and this suggested a theory that prior to SCP-5045-1, SCP-5045 gained sustenance by allowing small groups of humans and animals to enter its exclusion zone, providing them with the illusion of Halifax before killing them. Mental Evaluation of Survivors suggested a memory wipe at the apex of the explosion attributed to SCP-5045-1, caused most likely by a large release of hume radiation. The only people alive who could recall SCP-5045 before the incident, were the Mi'Kmaq Peoples who lived across the bay. Below is a transcript of an interview with the current chief at the time.
