Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: The object designated as SCP-XXXX is currently being contained at Site-██, █████, Japan.

The only road leading into Site-██ is to be manned by two sentries at all times to prevent unauthorised access. Nobody is to enter other than authorised SCP Personnel as well as test subjects, as permitted by the site’s Senior Researcher.

SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a room with walls of a minimum thickness of two inches with a lead lining. The object chamber as well as the viewing room must be well padded at all times to prevent self-harm. All subjects as well as SCP personnel entering both the object chamber and viewing room must wear ear plugs at all times. Any sharp items, even seemingly harmless items such as pens and pencils are not permitted in the object chamber or viewing room.

All subjects entering the object chamber of Site-██ are to be searched for sharp items that may be used for self harm, briefed as well as provided with the following protective equipment: one pair of foam ear plugs.

All subjects exiting the object chamber are to be submitted to a complete mental health as well as monitored isolation for a minimum of three days.

If test subjects and/or SCP personnel begin to hear so-called "voices" they are to be detained and monitored. If these test subjects begin to show violent and aggressive behaviour, they are to be submitted to questioning before being terminated.

All SCP Personnel leaving Site-██ are to receive a full mental check-up before being cleared for exit.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 16th century Japanese Sengoku-Jidai period Samurai Kabuto (Helmet) and Mask. The object was found during construction of a new road in the city of █████, Japan. At first site, the object seems to be nothing but a bad-condition Samurai helmet and face mask. The object was at first displayed in ███████ Museum in █████, Japan before the object began showing anomalous behaviour.

Reports from the museum show people who spent prolonged amounts of time around SCP-XXXX began to complain about hearing whispering, despite there being no near-by people. In some cases, people hearing the whispering would begin to act extremely aggressively to near by people whilst shouting variations of "Please stop the whispering". In one case, a young man, Mr █████ ████ unfortunately took his own life due to the whispering

Whilst at first sight, the object seems like nothing but a bad-condition Samurai helmet and face mask, prolonged exposure to the object can lead to various anomalous events.

Studies have shown that prolonged exposure to SCP-XXXX without the correct protective equipment, around half an hour, can lead to you hearing, what is described as a "whispering" noise at all times. We are yet to find out what this whispering noise is saying, if anything at all. Around half an hour to an hour after the whispering noise begins, victims of the whispering begin to show extremely aggressive and violent behaviour, this can include vocal aggression such as shouting and screaming variations of "Stop the whispering" as well as physical violence. Roughly two to three hours after the whispering began, victims begin to self-harm, including acts such as hitting their head against the wall and attempting to stab themselves with sharp objects. Further research into the object shows that the desire to commit suicide once being exposed to the whispering may be linked to the Samurai tradition of seppuku however this is not confirmed and it is more likely that it is simply because victims want the whispering to stop.

Incident XXXX-1: Whilst carrying out a test on SCP-XXXX, a Senior SCP Researcher failed to put on the correct protective equipment, foam earplugs. Despite the thickness of the wall between the viewing room and the object room, the Senior Researcher began to hear the whispering. After an hour of exposure, he began to show extremely violent behaviour, stabbing an SCP foundation worker with a pencil before being detained. Whilst being reviewed by medical personnel, the Senior Researcher managed to reach out and grab a scalpel before swiftly stabbing himself.
