Haruta's Sandbox

SCP-####-Shadow Puppets

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be held in a specialized containment cell. Level 2 clearance is required for any testing. When research is not being conducted, the cell must remain in absolute darkness and hermetically sealed. Infrared sensors will be used to monitor SCP-####.

While SCP-#### is being researched on, the cell must be shown with light covering all angles as that no shadows are able to be cast. If any of the lights malfunction during a test, personnel in the cell are to be declared Killed In Action. All testing with SCP-#### is to immediately cease, and all lights will be powered down. Onsite security will be put on standby, and D-Class personnel are to enter the cell. Via earpieces, they will be instructed to fix the malfunctioning light(s). Upon maintenance completion, the light(s) will be tested. If still malfunctioning, more D-Class personnel will be provided as needed. These personnel are only to enter the cell for maintenance after SCP-####-2 has finished disposing of the previous D-Class and the cell has once again been darkened.

SCP-#### is allowed certain privileges depending on good behavior and cooperation with Foundation personnel.

Description: SCP-#### is a human male of Caucasian descent, standing 138 centimeters tall, and weighing around 31 kilograms.

SCP-#### has the ability to create animated shadows on surfaces. It does so by using its hands, an example being using its thumb, pointer, and middle fingers to cast a dog's head. SCP-#### claims that it discovered this ability while playing in a fort made of blankets with its parents. The subject stated to Foundation personnel that its father showed it how to make shadows on a wall using his hands and a flashlight. When SCP-#### tried to do so as well, the resulting instance of SCP-####-2 animated for the first time and proceeded to move of its own accord. SCP-####-2 proceeded to "glide" along the wall and floor and proceeded to "eat" SCP-####'s parents. Based on interviews with the subject, it is currently theorized that with no further food sources nearby, SCP-####-2 then retreated back to its host.

SCP-#### began living on its own in its residence. After some time, a neighbor contacted a social welfare hotline after not seeing SCP-#### or its parents for a while. By this time, SCP-#### has become proficient in creating instances of SCP-####-2 that it would entertain itself with. The subject claims that these instances did not last long without food sources nearby. SCP-#### had tried to feed these "dogs" with food found in its residence, but the SCP-####-2 instances would not partake of any and quickly dissipated.

Police soon arrived at SCP-####'s residence. Upon knocking on the door and hearing no response, they proceeded to enter by force. Neighbors watching the scene have said that they soon heard gunshots coming from inside the house. After the firing ceased, SCP-####-2 instances were spotted moving erratically around the outside of the house. A Foundation junior researcher who happened to live nearby reported this in, and agents soon arrived to contain SCP-####. All non-Foundation witnesses were given amnestics and Junior Researcher ██████, who had reported the incident, was assigned to SCP-####.

SCP-####-2's are shadows capable of engulfing humans nearby. They can take many forms, but the most common that SCP-#### makes is the aforementioned "dog head." Current testing has shown a limited range of about 170 square meters. These shadows are created by SCP-#### and it is capable of creating these instances with even limited natural shadows, and with seemingly no effort expended. If a food source is within a SCP-####-2's range, the instance will ignore all commands from SCP-####, move along any non-biological surfaces it can reach, and proceed to "devour" the source.

As SCP-#### creates SCP-####-2 shadows depending on its mood or level of boredom, SCP-#### must remain in complete darkness, and its cell will remain hermetically sealed. Tests have shown that upon SCP-####'s cell becoming airtight, an instance of SCP-####-2 will automatically, and with no input from SCP-####, come out from its creator's mouth cavity and cover its hosts lower face. This happens regardless of the light levels in the cell, and SCP-#### remains coherent and capable of creating further shadows.

<Begin Log>

Interviewer: Hello Jimmy. Can you hear me alright?

SCP-####: Mr. ██████? Is that you? Where am I? It's dark and I'm scared.

Interviewer: It's alright Jimmy. There's nothing here to be scared about. It just has to be dark because of your unique ability.

SCP-####: You're talking about the dogs right? [Subject begins sobbing.] I swear, I didn't make them eat Daddy and Mommy! They wouldn't listen to me! I tried to stop them, but they wouldn't listen, and now Daddy and Mommy are gone, and I have to live alone, and-

Interviewer: It's okay Jimmy, I believe you. Everything will be okay. Some people just need me to ask you some things right now.

SCP-####: [Subject speaks through tears.] What people? Is it the policemen who came in my house? I don't want to go to jail!

Interviewer: No, no one like that. I'm part of a group who takes care of people with powers like yours.

SCP-####: [Subject sniffles, then smiles a little.] Like the Avengers Mr. ██████?
